Welcome to New Orleans! The city's walkable historic core, including Faubourg Marigny, the French Quarter, Warehouse and Arts District, Magazine Street, the Garden District, Audubon Park and Zoo and St. Charles Avenue, are flourishing anew and eager to welcome visitors once again.
Whether for the jazz, the nightlife, the hopping scene, the food, the culture, or for that distinctive joie de vivre, it's all within less than a miles walk away.
The Sky Loft is located on the border of a "Tale of Two Cities" The Bywater" and "The Marigny". The Sky Loft can accommodate up to 4 guests meaning I have 1 real queen bed in the bedroom shown and a full size couch in the living room (not shown). There is a second bedroom with a queen size air mattress. (photo not shown) It also has a cozy kitchenette for your personal use! This is a entire private upstairs apartment just for you.
It is a leisurely 20 minute walk or 15 minute bike ride to Frenchman Street. As you stroll toward your destination to the French Quarters, you will pass by more than 5 watering holes as well as a Walgreens (in case you get a headache). What the heck, buy the Advils now. You're going to need them. Really. Lol.
Also McDonald's and Subway are near by as well as the neighborhood grocery store which carriers a variety of things from Po-Boys to Merlot or Jack Daniels if you please not to mention cereal and milk. Oh yes and don't forget about good music, theater and yoga classes - all within a 6 block stroll.
I think you'll enjoy just "chillin" on the the balcony with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee in the morning.
There is also public transportation ($1.25 +.25 to transfer) 1 block away that will take you ANY where in the greater metro area if you're too tired or hung-over from the night before to walk. LOL!

Ruby and the Sky Loft were fantastic! The loft itself is beautifully put together, and very comfortable. Ruby was very accommodating and available when we needed her. Would definitely stay here again!
Ruby was a perfect host! Her apartment is comfortable, spacious and clean, and the surrounding area is very cute to explore.
We had a great time @ ruby's.
She is a perfect host and her apt is really cute.
What a wonderful space Ms. Ruby has. Perfect home base for some New Orleans fun. Ruby met us as soon as the cab could get us there. She had some waters and beer chilling for us. She is such a sweet lady too. The sky loft is perfect for a couple or as in our case worked well for two couples. The main bedroom is very large and the airbed she has is very comfortable. For me the best part was the balcony. Great breeze and fun spot to people watch.
As for the location it is only a 15 minute walk to Frenchman and only a bit further for the quarter. Bus route is right next door. Cabbies have no issue finding the house either. Consider renting bikes as we do. Ruby has a very secure place to lock them up and when you are ready to go the location is perfect.
We would be happy to stay at the Sky Loft again. Ruby is wonderfully sweet and the space is clean, convenient and fun.
For us the private space with all the amenities of home sure beats hotel staying anytime. Check in and check out is easy. I will recommend Ruby's place to anyone without hesitation. WE WILL BE BACK!
Ruby was a lovely host, and the apartment was very cute and clean. There are lots of interesting bars and restaurants nearby and a coffee shop around the corner, and it was easy to walk to several different neighborhoods. This was my first trip to New Orleans, and I feel lucky to have landed in this spot where I could get around easily and see beautiful parts of the city like Bywater and Marigny that I might have otherwise missed.
I loved the details of the apartment like the fainting couch and the vanity, and Ruby was so welcoming and helpful. It was a pleasure to stay here!
Ruby was an amazing host!!! We felt right at home in the Sky Loft. Our evening visits with Ruby and the stories she shared were the highlight of the stay!
Ruby was a magnificent host. My girlfriend and I came to NOLA for Wrestlemania and was worried that we wouldn't have a place to stay. A day before we were set to fly from New York, Ms Ruby blessed us.
The apartment was/is amazing. Everything two people in love could ever need. Spacious and far enough away from downtown to feel like we were on a true vacation. The balcony area is heaven. Looking over the neighborhood and having a nice smoke made me feel kingly.
Ms ruby was very helpful and left a nice bottle of wine for us. But that jambalaya that she left on our door was amazing.
We resolved to stay with her every time we are in NOLA! Can't wait to be back. Thanks Ruby
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at the sky loft! Ruby is an awesome host!!! There was a bottle of wine waiting for us when we got there and the place was clean and in good condition. I would recommend the Sky loft to anyone that wants to get out of the French Quarter but still wants to be close to the action. The sky loft is only 15 to 20minutes walk from the French Quarter, close to Frenchman street and there is also some good and fun place to see in the Bywater-Marigny district. There is a couple of buses that can bring you everywhere and at all time of the day. If you have the chance to spend some time with Ruby she's really cool and fun to be with! By the way, if you have a Daiquiri craving while you are at The Sky Loft, there is a good selection at Gene's Daiquiri at the corner of St-Claude and Elysian Fields, half the price of what you'll get in the French Quarter! Enjoy your Stay at The Sky Loft!
Lovely apartment. Cozy and nicely decorated.
Kitchen equipped with the basics (coffee maker, fridge, microwave).
The balcony is definitely a + (we loved taking our morning coffee / evening drink).
There is a bus stop very close to the flat taking you to the center or you can always walk through Marigny (lots of bars playing good music on Frenchman street) and to the French quarter (takes about 30min).
The flat is a little on the outskirts of the center, at the very limit between the fancy south neighborhoods and... the less fancy ones...
As there are not so many grocery stores around (at least we did not find them), if you do not have a car, better do your fresh fruits/vegetables/meat/fish shopping in the center.
Unfortunately we did not have the chance to spend much time with Ruby because of our respective schedules but she was a very warm and welcoming host.
[from us to you, if you come from France, a tip on what you could bring for her : an Eiffel tower key-holder] ;-)
Ruby is delightful and accommodating; a great host. I stayed for the month of February while working remotely in the apartment. Overall, I had a very good experience with the place. The Bywater area by the river has plenty of interesting bars and cafes, as does The Marigny, and you can swing by them on your way to Frenchman or the Quarter or whatever. Frenchman is definitely within stumbling distance. In terms of neighborhoods to stay in in New Orleans, this is a much more interesting area than the west/uptown side of the Quarter. Less throngs, hotels, tourists. Plenty of hipsters and locals (and the food and music they provide).
There is plenty of space to sleep a few people, though the apartment is arranged such a way that the bathroom is only accessible through the main bedroom. There is a large driveway that can park several cars, as well as a fenced walkway that will fit a motorcycle or two. I had a car, motorcycle, and scooter parked and never had any trouble with any of them. Internet was solid. You will catch some train horns and truck noise early on some mornings (depends on the day), but for the most part, the place is quiet at night.
The neighborhood gets a bit rough a few blocks in one direction, and quieter a few blocks in the other direction. That said, we stumbled on a great Boarcoonia party on the rough side, and the crowd was as warm as any. It's an up-and-coming area, if you will. I was never hassled by anyone, but there are some characters (it's New Orleans, afterall). Most folk are quite friendly. A four-star hotel this is not, but if that's what you're looking for, I have to wonder why you're in New Orleans to begin with.
