Enjoy all that Austin has to offer from this charming garden loft!
Situated in historic Clarksville, the space is at the same time cozy and flooded with light from 2-story windows and 3 skylights. Walk to restaurants, Book People, Whole Foods, Castle Hill Fitness, Lady Bird Lake, and all that downtown has to offer.
The apartment is a 60's 2-story loft in a 9-unit complex surrounding a lush garden. Downstairs, you'll find a cook-friendly kitchen, full-size fridge, breakfast nook for two, and a small workspace. The living room has a deep, cozy couch perfect for naps or a 3rd traveler, a 42" flat screen TV with basic cable, and a PlayStation for DVDs or to watch Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon. For music lovers (which I assume you must be if you come to Austin), you can easily connect your Ipod to the Bose speakers (downstairs) or the portable docking station (upstairs). Internet is fast, reliable, and included in your stay.
Upstairs, you'll find a queen bed with a cozy mattress, organic cotton sheets, and a lightweight down-alternative duvet. Fresh, new, fluffy towels will be provided in the light-filled bathroom.
The loft also has a charming private patio with a vertical garden of herbs, flowers, vines, and other seasonal edibles. Turn on the cafe lights and relax with a drink on the glider chairs after a long day.
Dedicated, off-street parking. one block to 5 bus lines, and a scenic walk to Zilker Park and the Lady Bird Lake hike and bike trail. You can also walk (or stumble, as the case may be) to many other attractions: there are 17 bars/clubs within 1 mile of the apartment.
About your host:
I have lived in Austin 4 years and love sharing it with others. Before living in Austin, I lived in 6 U.S. cities, Ecuador, the UK and China. As an avid traveler, I understand that some of the smallest conveniences can significantly enhance a trip, and I hope to provide you with much more than just a place to stay.

First and foremost, have fun! Please respect my home and my fantastic neighbors. Also, if you have severe cat allergies this may not be a pleasant place for you-- my cat and I will make ourselves scarce during your stay, but I can't guarantee that all traces of my furry friend will leave with us.

Kathleen's place was fantastic -- clean, bright, well-designed and convenient to everything in Austin. Great spot to stay for SXSW. Communication with Kathleen could not have been simpler. Highly recommended!
Very charming and warm place. Kathleen is a wonderfull host. She made everything possible for us to have a great stay. Thanks from Montreal!
My boyfriend and I had the most wonderful stay at Kathleen's home during ACL. Zilker Park was a pleasant 20-25 minute walk from her front door. We also went to Whole Foods HQ a few times to stock up on snacks -- literally only 2-3 blocks from her home! We felt so comfortable the whole stay (even during a massive thunderstorm -- the skylights in her loft made it quite a show!)
Kathleen was very communicative the whole way through -- giving us tons of great local advice on what to do in the area. She went out of her way to contact me during the thunderstorm to let me know I could borrow her raincoat and boots; and gave us advice for fun indoor activities since ACL had been canceled. So sweet!
We had an overall positive experience. Would definitely recommend! Thanks for everything, Kathleen :)
Kathleen's place was perfect! Smallish, but we had 3 of us stay, no problem. Such a cute apartment, with everything you could ever need and a really great (email hidden)per close to Whole Foods and cool bars and restaurants. We stayed here for SX and thought it was perfect. I was never actually able to meet Kathleen, but she set everything up for us and was very easy to get a hold of. Would most definitely stay here again. Thanks Kathleen!!
Kathleen's place was, as advertised, a wonderful retreat to escape in during SXSW. Likely a great find for any time as it's so centrally located. Gorgeous loft and very well kept. Kathleen could not have been easier to communicate with and could not have been more generous. She event let us send fedex to her office and offered plenty of great recommendations to explore in Austin. I look forward to staying there again. s
Kathleen's place is fantastic. It's perfect for 1-2 people, it's located in Clarkesville (one of my favorite neighborhoods in Austin) and I love that it's super quiet even though it's just a block off of 6th. Do yourself a favor and stay at her place next time you're in Austin.
In 2008, I came back to the US from a year in the UK and Shanghai, packed my Jetta, and drove from Lancaster County, PA to Austin, TX... and that was just the beginning of my love affair with this awesome, casual, quirky town.
I enjoy hosting friends from around the country and playing tourist with them. I also enjoy cooking and throwing parties such as tapas night, my annual Summer Solstice Party, and more casual gatherings with my book club.
I look forward to sharing my space with visitors and am happy to offer suggestions for activities and sights while you're in town.
