Rome has an immensely rich historical heritage and cosmopolitan atmosphere, making it one of Europe's and the worlds most visited famous, influential and beautiful capitals. The old part of Rome remains the city's most charming district, with lovely piazzas (squares) and streets to wander and find small cafes and restaurants.
Piazza Navona, which follows the form of the open space of the stadium. In this stunning square, the best example of the Baroque period, you can see some gorgeous masterpieces of the historical Rome sculpture, such as the Fountain of the Four Rivers (1651) by Gian Lorenzo Bernini or the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone by Francesco Borromini. Piazza Navona, like all great Italian piazzas, has been the scene of many dramatic and the Commedia dell'Arte. The square remains completely unspoilt by traffic and modern buildings.
