We had a wonderful family time at the Treehouse, which Tina has made so welcoming and homely and comfortable. It felt like we were being trusted with treasure! Our 14 yo son particularly loved it. All communication was helpful, timely, warm and accurate. The house had everything you could want for a beach holiday and more, which was so handy. The compendium was so thorough and full of great ideas.
We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for the ultimate relaxing homey holiday by the beach. Port Douglas itself is of course tropical paradise And the Treehouse is an easy walk to most things.
Thank you foe a wonderful break.
We stayed at the Artists's Tree House for 8 nights and we could not have asked for a more enjoyable, relaxing experience. If you're looking for a colourful, eclectic, inspiring "home away from home" then this is definitely the place for you! We did not want for anything during our stay. The house had everything we needed. With 3 young children, we chose to eat in most nights and the fully equipped kitchen provided all we needed and more. The hosts were lovely - very friendly and helpful. As long as Tina and Matt are renting out their fabulous homes, we will be back! Loved Port Douglas. Loved the Artist's Tree House.
The first point to make is that we had a lovely stay and would chose this house or another one in the Artist's portfolio in a heart beat. However if monochrome masculine minimalism is your thing then the exuberant colourful maximalism of the Treehouse is probably not for you! We loved it as did our neighbour's at the Artist Nook. It is great fun looking at all the ways the house has been embellished. The garden is gorgeous too - with comfy hammocks under the palms. The big cain sofa on the first floor veranda was the most popular spot to relax and look into the canopy of the trees. It is without doubt a very welcoming place in an ideal location between the shopping district and the beach. But if travelling with the very young or very old a car is helpful. As we passed the smart resorts on our travels to and from the beach we did not regret our choice at all - it was so lovely to come "home" each day. The house is well equipped and there are some very handy touches like beach towels and beach chairs. We were five adults of varying ages and found it comfortable and accommodating. There was a little miscommunication over bedding needs in the initial stages, but our hosts resolved it in a trice. They were a low key presence but we knew we could call on them if we needed. Indeed they swiftly made some repairs in the garden we had not even noticed needed doing. The detailed booklet provided is very useful and offers lots of helpful local advice. We missed out on the Walker brothers tour but did lots of great things. TIna and Matt do hint in the booklet that wifi in the treehouse is not a strong point and for us this was at times a bit frustrating - so reliant have we all become on easy access. If I ever returned I would bring a portable modem as Tina suggests - in the meantime we used the While Away bookshop wifi to send important emails. A very nice place for a coffee and a few internet chores. On the plus side I read more books! There are so many wonderful things to do - we were happy with all the tours we choose - Brett's Atherton tour was great and the Daintree trip was excellent value too. We chose the great big catamaran for the reef as it suited our needs but would not do so again if we did not need to - a smaller boat would be more appealing. That said it is very well organised and we had a very good day. on our last night We had a sunset sail with Sailaway and it was just lovely the skipper was charming and the crew brilliant. The Sunday markets are super and a seafood dinner at the inlet is a must. Lots of gorgeous shops to browse through too along...
I stayed in the Artist Treehouse for 6 nights with my family and it was perfect. We arrived late in the evening so Tina met us the next morning to welcome us and to check we had everything we needed.
The treehouse was descibed accurately and is a work of art in itself. Always something to look at or read and everyday finding new nooks of the house to explore.
Treehouse was about 10 mins walk from town in a lovely area and easy to find.
Would definitely recommend the Artist Treehouse for a family stay, a small group of couples, or anyone who loves art!
Beautiful space, exactly what the dr ordered. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby but you may find as we did that the kitchen inspires you to stay in and dyi. Books, art, windows that open up to the breeze: we were genuinely sorry to leave. Will be looking for an excuse to return.
The Artists Treehouse made our Port Douglas experience a wonderful fun and relaxed family holiday. The layout and styling of the house meant that we did not want to leave and we had such fun cooking meals and having drinks at home.
We loved the kitchen/lounge/diner and balcony, it is such a great space for a group and feels really tropical as set high up in the trees.
The house was really well equipped and had everything we needed which was really useful with a family.
Tina was extremely helpful and friendly in accommodating our requests as we had 3 small children.
Thanks to Tina and our experience at the Artists Treehouse - I would highly recommend it.
