Welcome to Atlanta’s favorite living and commercial district, Virginia-Highland. When you step out of this home you will find yourself right in the heart of this sought-after destination. Famous for its bungalows and other historic houses from the 1910s-1930s, you will be staying in one of the district’s finest example homes. Virginia-Highland is a sought-after destination for visitors to the City, but also Atlanta natives due to its eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, shops, the Summerfest festival, annual Tour of Homes and countless other social events.
In 2011 locals voted Virginia-Highland "Best Overall Neighborhood", and in June 2011, AtlantaMagazine designated Virginia Highland "favorite neighborhood overall". In 2012 local residents voted Virginia-Highland "Best Walkable Neighborhood".
Your beautiful, modern home is private, yet right in the bustling, vibrant cultural heart of Atlanta, just steps away from the City’s finest restaurants, its largest and most coveted green space, Piedmont Park (think New York’s Central Park), and everything else a world traveler wants. You just discovered Atlanta’s future, a green, walking-friendly community alive with promise. When eating in, stock up at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods just blocks away. You have a gorgeous chef’s kitchen to prepare those fabulous and memorable meals. When it’s time to eat out on the town, just steps away you will find world-class food offerings from renowned establishments such as Murphy's, Fontaine's Oyster House, La Tavola Trattoria, Noche, Two Urban Licks, just to name a few of the amazing culinary options. The Highland’s favorite coffee shop is around the corner, and a few more steps and you have well known live music venues such as Blind Willies, all manner of entertainment, outdoor concerts, shopping, festivals, the list simply does not end. When visiting Atlanta this location is simply the place to be, and you are centrally located walking distance from it all.
Your accommodation is an entire house set up on a hill under a canopy of trees. On arrival an incredible hand-forged iron gate by ironwork artist Corrina Sephora Mensoff greets you at the street. Open the Mensoff gate and an inviting bamboo path leads you up to your home.
The lower level has an open floor plan with lots of light streaming in and a spacious 20 feet high vaulted ceiling. The second level is a beautiful loft-style master suite that feels just like a treehouse.
You have a new kitchen equipped with Leitch cabinetry from Germany, Miele appliances, built-in refrigerator, commercial stainless steel vent hood, granite countertops, many built-in pantries, and a lovely breakfast bar! All the modern conveniences are present: instant hot water for teas and coffee, an extra toaster oven, coffee grinder, French press, dishwasher, electric oven and range, garbage disposal, and microwave.
A monolithic antique iron spiral staircase leads upstairs to the master bedroom/loft space, which is on-level with the property’s canopy of trees. It’s the best of both worlds; you will feel like you are in a tree house and yet sealed in a modern and comfortable home at the same time!
Four beds easily sleep 8 people, with a brand new Queen Serta iComfort Genius gel mattress equipping the master suite and other high-quality comfort mattresses throughout. Note that two of the bedrooms are in the semi-private loft. While the area is large and divided, these bedrooms do not have closing doors between them.
A lovely leather sofa and club chairs adorn the living room, while the dining area is furnished with a dining table large enough for your entire party.
From the dining area two sets of French doors lead you to a beautiful flagstone patio and arbor, perfect for outdoor dining and entertaining. From there a labyrinth of stone steps and secret paths invite you to explore the terraced back depths of the property.
You are staying in a classic and historic bungalow with all the charm of the Virginia-Highlands, yet with all the modern conveniences of life. A NEST network-controlled thermostat monitors the brand new state-of-the-art heating and cooling system to give you ultimate comfort; the centralized Lutron lighting system gives you and your guests perfectly-tuned lighting for every occasion. On the first floor a modern, full-sized front-loading clothes washer and dryer set are available for your use.

More on Virginia-Highland: The neighborhood was developed in the early 1900's and consists of seven distinct commercial "villages" alternating with short, walkable blocks of charming bungalow homes. The neighborhood's name derives from the intersection of Virginia and Highland Avenues (two blocks from this home). The area is acclaimed for its diverse and unique shopping. Trend-setting apparel, classic to kitschy antiques, folk and pop art, whimsical decorative accessories, natural linens, rare cigars, distinctive art books, gourmet kitchen wares, fine woodworking and gardening tools, unusual fresh flowers, gelatos, unique contemporary, antique or traditional furniture, do-it-yourself pottery, full-service day spas, fashionable salons – and more!
We are just about as convenient to public transportation as Atlanta gets, being about 300 feet from the 16 line, which takes you right downtown to Underground Atlanta, World of Coca Cola, City Hall, and much more: (website hidden)_StreetMap.aspx?route=16
For other trips to all point in Atlanta we are a mile from the Marta train.
Other Things to Note
- The house is not childproof due to a loft space. By booking this unit, you accept all responsibility and liability for keeping your children out of the loft space.
- There are stairs leading up to the house which creates an amazing privacy barrier, but may not be convenient for some guests.
- There is plenty of on-street parking, but no garage.
Thank you for choosing to stay with us!
- We ask that you please refrain from smoking inside the house. If you decide to smoke inside the house, please be advised that we will assess a $250 charge for smoke odor removal. Thank you for helping us keep the house a smoke-free environment.
- The house is a candle-free zone. Please refrain from lighting cancels in the house. We have provided some LED candles if you wish to use them.
- Although we personally love pets, we do not allow them in the house. This is due to the allergy issues of some of our guests.
The host was very nice and accomodating. The location is GREAT. The house is very cool and was a good gathering place for three couples on a 'family reunion.' We hope to return sometime.
After visiting the Virginia-Highland neighborhood, it is now one of my favorite city neighborhoods that I have visited. The proximity from this home to restaurants, bars and parks was fantastic.
The home itself was smaller than expected but the weather was nice and the outdoor space helped with the flow of our group. Very cute home, good details. Probably not the best house for a larger group of individuals but it would be perfect for two or three couples.
The place was nice and had a lot of amenities. The host were very nice and the key system was great. The neighborhood was nice and had some great eating locations.
We can't say enough great things about our experience in this house. The home is situated on a beautiful residential street with all of Virginia Highlands easily accessible. We used this space to host 7 team members for a work retreat, and it suited us perfectly. The home is exactly as described, and the check-in and check-out process was a breeze for us.
It is important to note that the house is situated above street level and you must climb a couple of flights of fairly steep stairs to get in...this was no problem at all for us, but something to consider for those who may have limited mobility.
Thanks so much for a great experience and for sharing your beautiful home with us!
Kim and Ellie were fantastic to work with. Great communications along the way which helps to feel comfortable. I was welcomed ahead of time, and had constant communications that welcomed me, and offered any kind of help I might need along the way. The house is located in a great area and pictures are completely accurate. One of my favorite experiences was waking up in the loft bedroom with the wonderful windows, which made me feel like I was in a high end tree house. Lovely. Kitchen is well stocked with everything one would need to cook and even host a gathering if desired. There are a TON of steps to go up (32 in all - I think) but once I got my luggage up, those steps served as great exercise. The "house book" was helpful to review as I occasionally needed to refer to it for the stove top :-). Kim and Ellie also provided a very detailed sheet of things to do and places to eat - which was also very helpful. I would love to experience this house in the warm weather. The outside patio looks like a great place to have a summer dinner party.
Amazing neighborhood, really beautiful house, comfortable beds, clean sheets and towels, shower supplies included, reliable wifi, and a friendly communicative host -- we couldn't have asked for anything more! Stay here!
