My 1st-floor apartment is a clean, quiet and comfortable place, it's ideal startingpoint to explore the city. It's situated just around the corner from the wonderful Vondelpark, Amsterdam's largest city park. The Leidseplein is also very near.
The living room is a sunny space with large windows and a balcony overlooking the Overtoom. There is a comfortable sofa, dining table, and digitalTV, DVDplayer, CDplayer, Ipod docking station. You have full access to wireless internet.
The kitchen is built in American Kitchen-style and fully kitted out with a microwave, oven, gas hob, toaster, Nespressomachine and a brand new dishwasher.
In the spacious Master bedroom in the back of the apartment you'll find a comfortable, soft double/king size bed (extra long), wash basin, and a small desk. The room has large windows that overlook the neighbours' pretty gardens.
The second bedroom is in the front of the house and also has a queen size bed. I have a baby cot available.
There is a modern bathroom with shower, large wash basin and toilet. The bathroom has comfortable underfloor heating. You'll find a second toilet in a separate room in the corridor. The corridor has a wardrobe where you can easily store your luggage. Bedlinen and towels will be provided. Washing machine/ iron/ ironing board/ hairdryer are all available for use.
You will be having access to your own apartment in the centre of Amsterdam, no shared bedrooms, no shared bathrooms or shared kitchen. The apartment is at the first floor.
Interaction with Guests
I'll be around the house for any questions or assistence and in the apartment you'll find a map with information on the area (things to do, things for childeren, shops, tips for nightlife, bars, restaurants, rental bikes, et cetera).
The neighbourhood Oud West is very laid back. There are heaps of nice shops and the best coffee shop in town is just around the block (Harvest and Company).
There are lots and lots of nice restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood and your host Jessie, who had a restaurant for years, will be very happy to give you advice or directions. If you prefer to stay in, the supermarket is almost next door and open till 22pm (Sundays 10am-20pm). There are several organic shops in the area, as well as designershops, a toy store, bookshops, a beertasting bar, an enormous travelbook store and a lot more that will capture your interest.
Across the street you can rent bikes, carrier bikes and scooters at Mac Bike. And very conveniently, the public transport stop is right on the doorstep of Museum Suite.
Public transport is easy in Amsterdam: there are tram stops all around you wich makes the city easy accessible. The airport is only a short train ride away.
Other Things to Note
Location: you'll find this renovated 60 m2 apartment in a typical Amsterdam building. The Museum Quarter of Amsterdam (The Van Goghmuseum, the recently re-opened Museum for Modern Art (Stedelijk Museum), and the Rijksmuseum) can be reached within 10 minutes walk.
The Leidse Square area, famous for its bars and cafes, the city theatre (Stadsschouwburg), cinemas, heaps of restaurants and nightlife is only a 5-minute stroll from the apartment. From the Leidse Square the Leidse Street takes you to all the big brand shops. The apartment is in a relaxed and quiet area, so it's a great place to escape the crowds. It's very easy to reach the apartment, and it's within walking (and cycling) distance to the heart of the city.
The Museum Suite is a non smoking apartment, although you are allowed to smoke outside on the balcony.
The apartment is not suitable for parties, no loud music and no invites without my consent. I am looking for considerate guests. Please consider the neighbours. Minimum stay of 7 nights.
The reservation was canceled 77 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This was my first experience using Airbnb, and I was a bit concerned about the whole process. The reason I chose this apartment was because of all the wonderful reviews people said about Jessie. She did not disappoint! She had fresh flowers, fruit, coffee and cookies for us upon our arrival. She is the sweetest and most kind lady I have had the pleasure of getting to know. I had so many questions for her about Amsterdam in general, and we communicated for several months prior to our arrival. Since we had never been to anywhere in Europe, I was a bit concerned about the whole process, but she was able to ease my mind about everything. She provided us with extra umbrellas, an iron, and a hair drier. The front bed was heavenly, and so comfortable. We also loved the heated bathroom floor. The apartment is only a few doors down from a grocery store with everything you would need to cook meals. There is also a Starbucks one block away if you are more partial to American coffee as we are. She had everything we needed to cook for four people for one week. The apartment is decorated (as you can see) very cheerfully. There are plenty of outlets for charging electronics, and using hair driers, etc. at the sinks. This cute and comfortable apartment is in a great location of the city. The bus (tram) stops right outside the door. Even though the street (Overtoom) is busy with lots of amenities; it is not noisy in the apartment at all. It in fact adds to the charm and character of living the lifestyle. We loved drinking our coffee in the morning and people watching. It was so fun to watch all the people on bikes racing off to work, etc. I could see myself living there, even though I am a suburban girl! We walked most of the time to various places in the city, so it is not too far. My husband is a real beer geek, and wanted to take a day trip to Belgium, but we could not fit it in our schedule. If you like good beer we got a tip of an excellent local pub called Café Gollem. It turns out it is only a couple doors down from the apartment! Too bad we didn’t find it sooner.
I can't say enough good things about Jessie and the way she is so welcoming and personable! She is such a terrific model of the warm Dutch people. If you are looking for an economical stay in Amsterdam you can not go wrong with this gem of an apartment and its owner! I plan on coming right back here! It feels like home and I miss it already!
I have a pleasant time staying on this apartment. Very nice beds, good kitchen..
Location is great(you can find everything close - market, restaurants, bike rentals, etc..).
Thank you Jess for being such a nice host. Hope to get back as soon as possible.
Exactly as described; very clean, very quiet, very near central Amsterdam. We were over here working, so it fit the bill perfectly. It sounds strange but being able to lock the apartment door (not always the case in Amsterdam) really contributed to feeling at home.
One room is massive, so if you're flipping a coin for rooms, make sure your luck's in!
We had an excellent stay in Jessie'apartment. Very conveniently located and very comfortable. Jessie was an attentive and friendly host, always kind and available. Would certainly stay again. Many thanks.
This was for my daughter and Jessie was very nice to trust that it would be a good choice for her to accept. The feedback I received is that she was very nice, the apartment was very nice, the location was good and she and her friends had a great time in Amsterdam.
I ve had a restaurant for years, and so I love food & wine and I like to cook myself. Besides food I'm crazy about film and documentaries, specially on when the subject food ;-). I simply love to go to the cinema, but I go to the theatre as well.
I've been traveling throughout Europe, (France, Spain, Italy, England, Ireland) but also South Africa, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia et cetera. My wish is to visit South America. And to explore Mongolia, seems a fascinating and pristine country to me.
I sincerely want to make your stay as pleasant as possible, so please let me know what you need. Ofcourse I also want to give you your privacy, so if you don't call me I won't be bothering you.
