Room #1 sleeps two people & has a shared bathroom. Enjoy fresh coffee & conversation with other guests, or enjoy an easy walk into town.
Bikes also available.
NOTE : 12% TOT Tax and $2 /nt. TBID Tax included in nightly rate.
We have THREE rooms available for guests, listed separately but under the same heading name. This is ROOM #1 which has a shared bathroom. There is a 2 night minimum and, if you can stay longer, we'd enjoying having the opportunity to get to know you more. Besides, there's plenty to explore here so 4-5 day visits can still leave you wishing you'd had more time! (Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate families with young children.)
The 3 things that people appreciate most about us (and which we hear over and over) are
how calm & beautiful the place is
the fantastic coffee in the morning
how close we are to everything
(not to mention "the Spot" out on the deck and the very comfortable beds)
Your lovely light, airy bedroom has a queen sized bed, a couple comfy chairs & a small TV. There is a shared bathroom just a few steps down the hall. It is part of a Craftsman style home with tropical garden & outdoor sitting areas.
We are located on the upper East side of town, in a safe residential area 5 blocks from the Old Santa Barbara Mission and Rose Garden, minutes from the bus stop. A 5-15 minute walk will bring you to restaurants, markets, and the heart of Santa Barbara where there's plenty of shopping, sight-seeing, and great restaurants. Local bus service (costing .50 cents!) runs up & down State Street to the beach making it easy if you do not have a car.
****This is a beautiful town and in order to support Santa Barbara's efforts to keep it so, a 12% Occupancy Tax and $2./nt TBID Tax have been added to your room price, which we pay directly to the City. So, the price per night is actually lower than is stated because of that tax.****
While you are here, you are welcome to join us and use the kitchen for preparing simple meals or heating up water for tea or such, and there is a microwave at your disposal.
We are creative and love most all kinds of music, photography, art, and the natural world. If you're interested in the photography work I do, talk with me more about that.
Our household includes 1 little dog, Jack Rabbit. We lived in Hawaii for many years and had a great Bed & Breakfast on Maui which is still in operation but under different ownership. Obviously, we're comfortable with people and love sharing our home, stories and helping others to have a fantastic time in our town. It's a peaceful place that will refresh you at the end of your busy day and we'd be delighted to share our bit of paradise with you!
As mentioned above, guests are welcome to make their own tea or coffee, use the microwave & refrigerator etc. In consideration of everybody else, I ask that everybody cleans up after themselves.
During the winter, guests are welcome to come share time by the fire in the living room or sit in the kitchen over tea.
People love to sit on the deck in the spring and summer but please welcome other guests to join you if you've found The Spot!
Interaction with Guests
We often share conversation in the mornings over tea or coffee as we hang out in the kitchen or on the deck outside. Ideas for the what to do during the day are shared and those who haven't already headed out, get to know one another a little bit.
Our neighborhood is clean, safe, and great for walking in. There are some wonderful gardens and interesting houses you'll pass and there are plenty of beautiful public gardens within minutes of our house. The Mission Rose Gardens are spectacular when the flowers are in bloom and Alice Keck Park just a few block south always have something interesting growing and the ducks & turtles are fun to watch as they sit beside pond.
We've so many amazing cafes & restaurants a few blocks away too, as well as cinemas and theatres that offer entertainment in the evenings.
There's public bus running up and down State Street and Garden Street and a Trolley that runs up down State Street through the most well traveled areas. So if walking the few blocks to the heart of shopping, restaurants etc is not your thing, you've options to consider.

I had a wonderful stay at Welmoet's place. The house is just so beautiful, spotless clean and Welmoet was most welcoming and kind and very interesting.
Don't hesitate on picking this place!
I enjoyed my stay in this beautiful craftsman home. Excellent location, quiet street, welcoming host. Highly recommended.
A wonderful place to stay. Beautiful house, garden and neighborhood. And of course, Welmoet is a super nice and helpful host.
Welmoet was warm, welcoming and made us feel right at home in Santa Barbara. The room was lovely. The bed was comfortable, and we had all the linens and towels we needed-- plus, fuzzy robes! She made us coffee and croissants in the morning and it was wonderful to enjoy slow mornings, chatting with her. Shared bathroom was no problem at all, especially since she gave us robes to wear. We had a wonderful time and will most definitely be staying with her again, the next time we come to Santa Barbara.
Welmoet is a great host and has a large and wonderful house. When we crossed paths we had nice chats and did not feel at all like we were just guests at some hotel or intruding in her home, it was totally comfortable. Apparently there were guests in other rooms at the same time but the house is very large and we were not nearly on top of each other, in fact we never even ran into them. I wish I could start everyday with morning coffee on her deck overlooking the trees and plants in her peaceful backyard.
A lovely room, with water and fresh fruit and a comfortable bed in a beautiful home in Santa Barbara. Welmoet welcomed me and was so helpful and engaging. She had great recommendations. Easy access to restaurants, and I enjoyed the fresh tangerines from the tree in the back yard along with the yummy coffee provided. Shared bathroom, but I felt like I had it to myself. A very peaceful home, lovely host, and wonderful setting.
We had a great stay! Welmoet was very sweet and helpful. She made us feel right at home. The bed and pillows were super comfy and we slept great. And she was nice enough to offer us a bottle of wine for our anniversary! I highly recommend staying with her!

I've been living in Santa Barbara for about 15 yrs and lived here previously some 20 years before, after living in Hawaii where I ran a Bed and Breakfast for years. I love hosting travelers, the exchanges we have, and I look forward to meeting you.
