About This Listing
1 block to the Metro, 1 to the parking garage, 3 to the Train, 20 min. from Barcelona!
Enjoy a tourist-free beach community next to Barcelona with markets, shops, restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Modern flat with great sea views!
This is a fully renovated northern European style flat with custom furniture in the heart of a small town virtually connected to Barcelona by train and metro, a stone's throw away from the flat.
Only 20 minutes from the Sagrada Familia and downtown Barcelona, this is one of the tallest buildings on one of the main street in neighboring downtown Badalona and offers a beautiful view of the coast and the beach, only 4 blocks away.
Fully renovated by a northern European architect in 2010, this 50 meter (538 square foot) bright, sunny apartment flat has custom wood furniture and windows everywhere, a well equipped stainless steel kitchen/living space, a spacious bedroom for two with a classic wooden Japanese futon bed, separate shower and toilet and a small walk-in closet.
The living space has a sofa that converts to a bed for one person or two children. The best part is that the flat boasts a 54 square meter (581 square foot) terrace with a table for four and a spacious sofa that seats up to 8 with a wood and slate awning that creates the perfect chillout area. This is a homey, romantic place for a couple alone or with a child or two.
Wifi, full kitchen, rice cooker, washing machine, elevator.
This flat is dead center in Badalona, the new metro station is right at the crossroads of Av. Marti Pujol and Via Augusta, a block from the flat, where you can take the metro to Barcelona, arriving at Sagrada Familia in 20 minutes or Plaça Catalunya in 25-30 minutes. Walking towards the beach is the Badalona train station and it takes about 20 minutes to Arc de Triomf and Plaça Catalunya (both train and metro accept the same kind of tickets). Right next to the metro is a new, high security automobile parking garage. There's a taxi stand two short blocks up around the corner from the flat, in case you want to ride into Barcelona for about 20€.
But Badalona is a nice place to see as well! The best is the very long stretch of sandy beach that runs along the town and is where families and couples stroll up and down and have something to drink or eat at the many outdoor cafés and restaurants all along the area. (I can recommend a couple of good spots to eat!) Apart from the Museum with the vestiges of Roman village Betulo, there's the famous Anis del Mono (logo designed by Picasso!) factory on the beach, heralding Badalona's recent industrial past and still manufacturing the renown anisette, whose aroma gently wafts through the area near the factory. There's a huge new shopping mall about 15 minutes walking, I've only been there once or twice. Badalona is also known for being the European Basketball Capital, with the Juventud team playing regularly at the pavilion near the shopping mall. About 20 minutes northeast is an old industrial section that's packed with trendy night spots, ask if you really want to go there. There are virtually no tourists in Badalona, the town has a far-away "up the coast" feel even though it's so close to Barcelona, and Badalona is safe as milk.
(phone number hidden)
The whole flat, the terrace, the other terrace where guests hang clothes to dry (view of Barcelona!)
Interaction with Guests
I drop off the keys, talk and answer questions for about 15 minutes and the place is yours! I am available by mail, text, and telephone.
It's a real local feel, a real neighborhood, all the shops (H+M, Zara, Desigual) as well as bakeries, banks, fresh fish, vegetable markets, supermarkets and late-night convenience stores are within walking distance as well as transit, either metro, bus, train and taxi stands and of course the beach is 3 blocks away.
Metro a block away, train station 3 blocks away, bus stop in front of the flat. Paid high security parking 50 meters from the flat, free outdoor parking 4 blocks away near the beach.
Other Things to Note
The flat buzzer says "Atic 3º", when you get in the elevator, press the "A" button.
This is not some flat that I bought and threw together a few Ikea things, it's my home and everything except that every piece of furniture is hand made to order-
I expect people to be respectful of my place and courteous with the neighbors. I'd prefer if you didn't smoke in there, on the terrace is ok. My neighbors are mostly in their 70's and 80's so it'll be quiet as a mouse up there, I'd expect my guests to not make a lot of racket either. I guess common sense dictates behavior; I'd like my guests treat my home as it it were theirs, as long as they treat their home with the same love I treat mine!
Ursula & Christian
Wow! here's what my fantastic guests wrote: For a few hours we are back in everyday life: completely satisfied and happy. An important contribution towards Henri-Pierre (owner of the apartment) and Adriana (Housekeeper). Adriana has received us warmly, the apartment cleaned again after a week to a high gloss and even washed our laundry and ironed !! Henri-Pierre is a wonderful host, the welfare of its guests at heart. In advance us his poetic descriptions have charmed emailed. On the first day he visited us and welcomed with a bottle of wine. His tips are extremely valuable, for example, the reference to the Boulangerie with wonderful croissants and oven-warm bread. Henri-Pierre's apartment is not a 0815-flat, but picked furnished and decorated with witty artworks. The showpiece is of course the huge terrace with a pergola in the middle, a hammock, a large dining table, a lot of free space for morning exercises and the phenomenal views of the White City and the blue sea. We have students from more than amused, they contribute to a very special holiday feeling. The residents of the house are pleasant and friendly. The beds are (as mentioned by predecessors) really hard, but we brought thin mats and so that was not really a problem. With a big thank you to Henri-Pierre and Adriana! Ursula & Christian
Amazing apartment, great and big terrace with a very beautiful view. Henri was so kind to us when we arrived. He explained everything and also gave us many great advices where to eat, shop vegetarian food and drink cold beers in both Badalona and Barcelona. We will definitely come back very soon!
we enjoyed our time in badalona in this beautiful, centrally located flat very much. Just a few minutes walk to the beach and the train station, from where the Center of barcelona is easy and fast to reach (and in our case: the forum, where the Primavera Festival took place, was even faster to reach). everything was as described and henri was very kind and helpful from the Start to our leaving. We give extra points for the balcony and the chillout-area on it. so i can only recommend this flat and his host.
Boy, it's really great to get yet another good review- I guess if you give good service to nice people, it's pretty hard to go wrong- another delightful, hip, young couple in the Perennial Primavera Sound Pilgrimage- my place is really close to the Forum apparently so I'm glad to host music lovers!
My boyfriend and I stayed in Henri's apartment for 2 weeks in May and we loved it!
The apartment is very bright, with new and nice fornitures, modern kitchen with all the utensilis you might need, but the best part is absolutely the terrace with his incredible view.
Even on raining days (fortunately just 2) we enjoyed to stay home and whatching the landscape from the big window of the living room.
The apartment is 5 minutes walk from a very nice beach, with clean sand, blue water and kiosks to eat. There are supermarkets and all kind of shops at walking distance. Also the metro line is 5 minutes walk from the house and it takes you in the centre of Barcelona in 20-30 minutes. During week days, when metro stop at midnight, you can easily come back from the city in 40 minutes with night bus n. 6 from Catalunia square.
Henri is a nice guy and we could comunicate well for any need. Also the cleaning lady is nice and very good in her work.
For us, staying in Badalona and particulary in this apartment, was the perfect choice to combine sea life and relax , with sightseeing and nightlife in Barcelona city.
The apartment had only 2 negative aspects for us: a very hard bed, which could be fine for a couple of days but that in our case was not very comfortable for 2 weeks, and the noise from the school in front of the house (only during week days and probably untill June or when schools close, there are children playing and screeming from 10 am to 5 pm in the garden outside the school; the noise is not heard with close windows and it is not a problem for people that won't stay home a lot of time, but maybe the place is not the best if you are thinking of a relaxing time on the terrace, enjoing the sun the whole day).
Despite these two aspects, we had a wonderful stay, we hope to come back and we suggest this apartment for sure!!
Hey! What a novel! I'm going to replace the mattress with a softer one , but I'm so booked back to back until the 15th of September that I can't do that , or get fiber optic internet cabling! (By the way, you knew perfectly well that the flat is located on a main street, with convenient buses right downstairs and a 19th century school with cloister across the street, I told you so before you booked, so I'm glad I didn't ever create a false expectation.) Despite that, I'm delighted you'd like to stay again and I'd be very happy to host you, model guests. Come back soon and don't forget your dancing shoes!
We had a wonderful time in Henri's apartment. It was absolutely perfect and I can't recommend it highly enough. Henri is the perfect host and made us feel really welcome.
The apartment is lovely and certainly even better than the pictures.
We enjoyed being out of the tourist areas, but the two stations (metro and mainline) being very close by so getting into Barcelona was really easy. You are also close to the beach, and a previous reviewer is right you can see a lot more of the sea from Henri's apartment than his pictures let on.
Go - you won't regret it!
Gerne wieder!
Hey! Now that's a good review! Thanks and come back! Having guest like you is a pleasure! Here's what Sabine and Andreas wrote:
Contact with Henri- Pierre from the beginning was very welcoming and helpful . Even before departure he gave many Info's and an extensive description of way. In the field, showed us around and also offered him all sorts of questions to contact you. Really a very nice and reliable contact . Gladly again! The apartment is very nice and loving. The views magnificent. You can have breakfast with view of the sea . The only drawback was the bed which was us personally too hard. But you can dodge as needed on the sofa bed . Otherwise, we were very pleased. The beautiful beach are within walking distance . Badalona also worth to be exploring. The metro is very close , from there you can very skillfully explore the sights of Barcelona. Overall a great holiday with a nice apartment , fantastic terrace and super nice landlord . Gladly again!
