Light Tree and Yoga Nivas hosts individuals who are traveling and wish to do yoga while they are away from their usual studio.
We offer private one on one sessions, vegetable and fruit juice detox and aromatic yoga foot massage as well as energy support kriyas.
Yoga Nivas is also very close to the airport, if you have a car, just 3 miles off of Alcoa Highway (129 S.) and I 40 W/E and 275/75 towards Kentucky. And, for football season, are just 15 minutes from Neyland Stadium, for those who are considering alternative stays during the fall and winter.
I am a yoga teacher in the Kundalini Yoga and Meditation traditions. I hold the lineage of adi-shakti and the sikh way of life. I teach kriya, pranayama and hatha kundalini as well as poses.
As a yoga and meditation instructor, I offer private yoga and healing sessions, every day in our in-home studio, a sweet and cozy living room space.
Our home has a shared front room, dining and kitchen area, renovated laundry room (still under construction), shared bath and beautifully mellow front and back yard. We are a small family of one teenage son, one dog and one mom, Ajeet.
You will be staying in a simple bedroom, opposite the bathroom, with a twin bed. This bed has 2 mattresses so if you are a couple, you can easily fit two; there is an extra charge per person. The room has closet space, desk and local maps and visitor information.
~ We offer both 3-day cleanses as well as week- long stays with a special focus on detox and yoga
~ For winter season, we offer cleansing baths, and trips to Hot Springs, North Carolina to take in the waters. This trip must be paid for in advance
We are also very close to The University of Tennessee (FOOTBALL GAMES), restaurants, shopping, movies and a lively, restored downtown, with art shops, movies, music and night life.
BIKE TRAILS to Knox Area Greenways, Ijams, and the Smoky Mountains are only a half-hour to hour drive away and routes accessible from the house. We are 45 miles from Smokey Mountain National Park, 110 miles from Chattanooga/Lookout Mtn., 200 miles to Atlanta/Alpharetta, 120 miles to Abington, VA, a great family vacation spot in the south.
You will access our WIFI and get to use our bikes and have access to all the vegetables that come out of the garden in summer.
Interaction with Guests
I like to get to know all my guests personally. We love to share meals and occasionally have cook-outs!
We live in the suburbs, nice wooded lots, family feel, friendly neighbors, ice-cream truck in the summer!
We are about 4 miles to public transit and we have a bicycle for rent to go to the university and downtown. It takes about 50 minutes round trip.
We are a non-smoking and no alcohol family. We have a very friendly dog, so no pets please.
Our home is easy-going, but cleanliness is gladly encouraged! We like to go barefoot in the house, so please no shoes inside.
Ajeet is a wonderful person. her home is simple but elegant, lived -in but not unclean-it feels good! Her dog is a darling. She was great to chat with and helped my son with some yoga advice. We hope to stay with her again.
We were so happy to meet ajeet and stay in her cozy home. It was a nice change from the box hotels, and we really felt like friends visiting more than guests. Ajeet is lovely, so are her son and wonderful dog! We miss them, and would definitely recommend staying there!! :-)
I enjoyed my week's stay at this delightful little B&B, and had a great time with lots of laughter and sharing with the host, Ajeet Khalsa. I would book again (and plan to) in the future. Edw. Blomgren
All in all our stay with Ajeet was great. She is definitely a very sweet and enthusiastic host and even invited us to her friend's houseparty for the 4th of July where we had a great time.
If you are into yoga and spirituality then this is the right place for you.
You should be dog friendly to stay there.

I am the owner of Light Tree ~ Healing Home & Yoga Bnb. We host passion-driven artists, travelers, scientists, happy parents and children, who access their true essence of Self through yoga, dance, meditation and natural, sustainable living.
I am a yogi and performance artist and I enjoy traveling to communities around the world, leading workshops, sharing my work and teaching. As my 17 year old son puts it, "Ajeet helps to smooth out the rough edges of a busy day, or put a higher curve in a smooth day". I've also been told after a healing session with me, it's like where there were hills, there is only speed bumps. I like this analogy.
I teach from a somatic view--it's all in our bones~ our heart and mind, emotions and illness ~ weave their web of peacefulness or stress that holds our world in place. I'm working right now teaching my children's yoga program, Dancing Spider Yoga which helps both parents and teachers share and learn yoga, while giving them 100% of the tools they need to bring yoga into their community and family.
While you are here, I'll have clients for yoga classes, Full Moon gatherings and healing sessions. If you like, go to my website, (website hidden), and book a session for yourself. It'll take the rough edges off your travel and give you good sleep. I'm also here to share stories, good food recipes, and good simple laughter.
In the summer I teach an Acting Course through the University of Tennessee through Kids U! My program, Got Talent! is an improvisational acting and theatrical class for elementary aged children. During the year, I lead Children's Yoga Teacher Trainings, Yoga Class in Kundalini & Meditation and am part of a larger network of peace makers and social activists, artists and healers in the south east region.
I live in the suburbs, so going hiking and visiting farms is a must! I'm part of several local community organizations, and am a beloved arts-driven social activist, permaculture student and intentional community expert. In this line of work, I help women and men uncover what is holding back their passion in life, and through the lens of yoga and meditation, absolutely reduce their stress so that they can embrace all of life with grace, radiance, and deep bliss
As a yoga and performing arts-in-education specialist I have taught at Natures Way Montessori School, Knoxville County Magnet Schools, Children's Hospital, YMCA, The Glowing Body, Helen Ross Mcnabb Mental Health Center, Sisters of the Rainbow, Knoxville County Public Defenders Office, and the Public Library.
I am available for a private session as a great way to 'get grounded' once you arrive! If you would like to schedule a Relax into Radiance day during your stay at Yoga Nivas, it would include a 1 hour healing, followed by a detoxifying juice. For more information on these sessions, please visit my site, (website hidden)
