The Space

The flat has been conceived as a place with a European feel in the heart of New Delhi.

The flat is organised aorund a patio and has a large living room; two bedrooms; toilet and separate shower room. There is a large private terrace which overlooks the garden of the building.

The flat and building have a European feel to it..

The bullding is a three storey Art Deco style building of the 1920s and entirely renovated. The building has a large enclosed garden and is in a quiet street right in the heart of Delhi.

The kitchen is not attached to the rest of the flat. and opens on the patio. One has to cross the terrace to get into the kitchen (2 meters away from the dining room)plan in tthe photo section.
Because of this particular layout ,we believe the flat is not convenient for young children
The living room opens out onto the terrace through two large French windows.

The flat is fully serviced with:
•Daily cleaning
•Provision of sheets and towels

There is a 24/7 guard service .

Our building manager, Rajni, is in her separate office in the building from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Rajni will help you out if you have any questions. We have a cleaner who is there Monday to Saturday.

For a small fee, we can help organize other services if you need, such as:
•Airport pick up and drop
•Travel arrangements
•Chauffeur driven car rental etc.

Connaught Place is the historic center of New Delhi. The area has the charm associated with this period. (early 192Os) It is close to many of the historic sights of Delhi, shopping and restaurant areas of central Delhi and of many international head quarters.

All transport means are nearby, including the metro and express metro to airport which is a few meters away.

The building was built at the same time as the renowned Imperial Hotel which is nearby. Although central, the building is in a quiet private (website hidden) is an enclave of peace and charm right in the middle of Central Delhi.
New shops open all the time, Marks and Spencer, Samsung Electonics are just across the road from us

The rates given are for short stays. We are happy to discuss proposals for periods longer than ten days on a case by case basis depending on the length of the period and number of occupants.

  • We had an excellent experience staying in the flat. It is well located, well equipped and very comfortable. The feature that makes the flat stand out is the warmth ,kindness and helpfulness of the owners and all the staff. We could not have felt more welcome and cared for. If you are someone who values having your own space and independence ,this option beats a five star hotel any day and is much less expensive.
Delhi is a big city and travelling is time consuming so being within walking distance of Connaught Place and the metro system is a real bonus. You can book with confidence.

  • We had a wonderful time at the apartment in New Delhi. It is very centrally located, and secure. The apartment is just as described, with a beautiful terrace. The hosts were very responsive and attentive to our requests.

  • My stay at Cecile's rooftop flat was quite enjoyable. It's nicely furnished, 2 bedrooms (the king size mattress is a bit hard though), a nice living / dining room and a small bathroom and toilet. The terrace is big and full of flowers and accessable from the bedroom and the living room. The kitchen is nice and functional. When I arrived there was water, coke, beer, bread, yoghurt and butter in the fridge. I liked that a lot. The neighbourhood is full of shops, restaurants and ATMs round Connaught Place. The metro station is only 5 mins from the flat. There s a small supermarket called 24/7 nearby. For Bollywood freaks you ll find a cinema with the latest movies. At night you might find it a bit creepy to walk the last bit to the flat since it s quite dark there. Last but not least, the doormen as well as the building manager are super nice. I really enjoyed it there.

The guards are very friendly and helpful.
    Couldn't be better.

  • This is a very homely, rather charming and quite unusual flat in a very central location. It's not part of a bland apartment block; instead it's the rooftop floor of a small, cute red brick house, tucked away down a back lane.
I've lived here for over a month and feel very at home here.
The sitting / dining room in particular is really nice; light and airy, with doors onto the terrace on one side and open sky and leaves on the other. So you can sit and see blue (or smoggy, depending on the weather!) sky and trees on one side and the little bushes on the terrace on the other, and enjoy a cool (or warm) through breeze. I love sitting here at the table working and looking out into the leaves of the trees outside, and enjoying the airiness of it. There's a nice patch of roof terrace to perch on too. There's aircon, but at this time of year (Nov), I much prefer the natural breeze!
It's very near Connaught Place - so really very central - much more so than many Delhi flats. Within walking distance of a metro, and you can find autos easily enough.
The nearb streets can look scruffy and a bit dirty to European eyes, but there's nothing at all intimidating. It feels very safe. There's always a friendly security guard on the gate, 24 hours, to let you in and out.
Rajni, the lady who works for the owners in a little office downstairs, is very pleasant and tries to be helpful, although you can't depend on her being around even during the week, and she's not here at all at weekends. So don't expect a concierge service; you'll have to be willing to fend for yourself. But the flat's cleaned daily and is indeed very clean. Laundry can be arranged, but be warned it's not that cheap and takes nearly a week to come back (very clean when it does!). There is a basic washing machine in the kitchen.
Downsides? This isn't a particularly swish flat and it has its little quirks. So don't come looking for hotel-type accommodation. If you're fussy, you'll find the very small, pretty basic kitchen a bit...small and basic.
Noise: this is central Delhi, and that does mean that from time to time there can be eruptions of noise: construction work near the Shivaji bus terminal beyond the trees at the back, or just random hammering or drilling from roundabout; fireworks and firecrackers, occasional loud music. I've been woken up at 5 in the morning by construction work. So don't expect complete peace and quiet. That said, much of the time it's not bad at all: just the background noise of sem-distant traffic and the odd air horn.
When I come back at the end of a long day, it feels like home. In a good way! If you want something wonderfully central and a little different, try it!
