Holiday villa rentals in Castiglion Fiorentino, just 18 kms away from Arezzo, Italy. The villa is situated in the beautiful Tuscan countryside just 18 Km from Arezzo, 15 Km from Cortona and 60 Km from Siena. A convent of the XIII century recently restored is situated in Castiglion Fiorentino, a typical tuscan village, surrounded by olive trees, cypress and fields. The villa dominates the val di Chio. This is a historic villa house as it is under the protection of Italian Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage. The apartment is 200 square metres, the antique furniture and the care of every detail creates a very charming atmosphere. There are two large bedrooms each with private bathroom and loft, with an additional single bed. There is a big kitchen and a very nice living room all furnished with antiqueties and there is also a divan bed . The villa has a beautiful and private outdoor pool that is open from 1 May to 30 September.
Very large appartment, clean, respect the description on the website. We were welcomed by the concierge, which was a very helpful lady. We had a great time in Crans.
During day time, there is a free shuttle bus stopping just next to the appartment. You are also 10 min away by walk to the first cable car for skiing.
The reservation was canceled 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
In summary: great house, rude owner.
The photos are very accurate and the house is lovely with gorgeous views of the Tuscan countryside. It was large -- perfectly comfortable for 9 of us. It was quick and easy coordinating with Darren leading up to the trip, and house manager Klaudia was equally great to deal with.
The only issues with the house were that we ran out of hot water on the first day and got locked out of the patio door. However, once we let Klaudia know about these issues they were resolved quickly, so not a problem.
However, Meagan - the owner ((website hidden))- demanded additional fees in cash after we arrived. I called Airbnb and confirmed that because this was not mentioned in the listing nor in our communications, we did not owe anything. Meagan did not like this and refused to call Airbnb, as they suggested. She instead told me she was going to report me to the authorities and to 'deal with it' before hanging up on me. She seemed to know nothing about Airbnb or its policies and had no interest in complying with them. Airbnb customer service was great and suggested we leave, which we did. Needless to say, after wasting an entire morning of our vacation trying to sort this out, the owner's unprofessional and rude attitude was not appreciated!
Overall the experience was great, but I would beware of booking a property from this owner.
Hello Noreen, It is disappointing to hear your review after we hosted you so happily and we even left a happy feedback for you. It was clearly stated in the listing that tourist tax and heat charges are extra. The Tourist tax is mandatory everywhere in Italy which needs to be paid to the local tourist office. We just collected the rent and final cleaning fee from you and not the tourist tax. Also I sent you a doc on 15th July which clearly stated about the tourist tax that needs to be paid at the villa on arrival. After all this if you still say we demanded for additional charges it is worrying us.
The apartment is good overall but we had a number of problems.
Firstly, the apartment is very nice and spacious, with very large ceilings. The location is fantastic - it's within short walking distance to everything you are likely to go and see, and is literally on the corner of the plaza that contains the church of Santa Croce.
However, there were a number of problems.
Firstly, the apartment does not have Wi-Fi. Given that internet access is listed (although it does say upon request), we assumed we wouldn't have a problem. However, Darren was not quick to reply to e-mails and although we asked for it upon checking in, we did not receive a reply until much later, meaning we did not have internet access as we were only there for 2 days. A lack of internet access is inexcusable for the amount the apartment costs, and is something Darren should look into installing asap.
Secondly, I had specifically asked Darren before we checked in if the apartment was three separate double beds, as we were three separate couples. Darren said there were. However, this was not really the case - there were two nice double beds and one old and rather uncomfortable sofa bed. Also, the living room with the sofa bed and one of the other 'bedrooms' are not seperated by a wall, which was awkward in a situation like ours with three couples. This was not all that clear from the listing.
Thirdly, the apartment was somewhat clean but not very clean - it was very dusty and one of the beds had what looked like blood stains on them when we checked in. The toilets also use a weird electric flush which doesn't work all that well and the water pressure in the bathrooms isn't fantastic.
Our check in also wasn't the easiest in the world - the apartment was 'self-check in' and we hadn't been given the exact number of the apartment by Darren prior to our arrival, so we ended up guessing which apartment on the street it was by which apartments had an electronic code to get in. Not the best way to arrive.
There is also a separate tourist tax not mentioned by Darren in the description. The apartment is also up a very large number of stairs with no lift access which wasn't a problem for us but may be for some.
We enjoyed this apartment very much. There are lots of advantages to it. The location is amazing! The apartment is about 20 steps from the plaza in front of Santa Croce and walking distance to all the Florence sites. The apartment is very large and all 14 of us were very comfortable! There are a lot of steps, so try not to forget anything in the apartment. Our check in was interesting, there was an older gentleman who met us. With the language barriers we weren't really sure if he was part of the arrangement or not. We communicated with Darren by email and never saw anyone else. We really had no problems at all and very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you!!
Staying at Darren's place was more than fine! It's well located, clean and nice. I strongly recommend the stay!
L'appartamento è veramente eccellente: pulito, spazioso e (website hidden) abbiamo soggiornato in 12 ragazzi e siamo stati veramente bene. E' al centro di Firenze ed è ottimale per una visita della città.
Lo consiglio vivamente.
In ultimo un ringraziamento per la Sig.ra Giovanna che ci ha accolti con moltissima disponibilità e gentilezza.
Grazie e a presto.
The CLIMB to the apartment was difficult. IT IS LOCATED IN A SECTION CLOSE TO ALL THE ATTRACTIONS IN Florence. When I first went in I didn't realize that the light was on a timer. ONE DAY WE GOT LOCKED IN AND COuldn,'t get out. There are several Americans around who spend the nights partying and making noise.
The inside of the apartment was fine there are two double beds and two singles. The couch pulls out but it is not useable.
