About This Listing
"Vico Muccio" is in a central position, a few minutes from the main cultural attractions, bars, shops and local restaurants. The house, recently restructured, is nicely located in a silent alley of the old town with plenty of light.
An incredible view on the historical center of Modica, the Baroque town in the south eastern part of Sicily declared World Heritage by Unesco for its Churches and beauties. Vico Muccio is in a central position, a few minutes from the main cultural attractions, bars, shops and local restaurants. The house is nicely located in a silent alley of the old town with plenty of light.
The house has recently been restructured with local raw materials and by maintaining the local building traditions. This has made it comfortable and practical, with a well equipped kitchen that opens up on a delightful terrace, a bedroom and a spacious and warm living room.
Modica is the ideal location to visit the history, the art and beauties of eastern Sicily, as well as to savour the traditional dishes and discover naturalistic routes. Ragusa Ibla, Scicli, Noto and Siracusa are all very close to Modica. Piazza Armerina and Agrigento are ideal locations for daily escursions.
Local cousine has its origins in the countryside peasant tradition (scacce – focaccia like, pastizzi -rolls of bread pastry stuffed with peas or cottage cheese, arancini – rice balls coated with breadcrumbs, chocolate, granite – semi-frozen dessert), and is served alongside with delicious fish based dishes.
Some of the most beautiful and wild beaches of the Mediterranean are only 20km away from Modica where you can practice sea sports. Donnafugata Golf: 20 KM.
Modica is approximately 1,5 hours from Catania airport.
Parking is available 3/5 minutes from the house.
There are not many rules, though we ask to keep the noise down so as not to bother the neighbours, and no parties!
We were met by the host's friend Enza; she helped us find the apartment and all the facilities. The stair was narrow and steep, but the apartment was very nice and well enough equipped for our stay. It is furnished with tasteful partly antique furniture appropriate to the place. There are two terraces with the most amazing views over the old town. It was in a quiet area, even though the Main Street was closeby. Modica is a lovely town, with many interesting walks in historic streets and wonderful vistas and the best food we have ever had in Italy!
We experienced a very warm welcome from a local friend of Federica's and were even treated with local sweets from Modica - delicious! The apartment is a real gem with its cosy and homely feel. The views from the terrace over the old town are just stunning. Modica was a perfect base to explore the other baroque-towns nearby. We cooked at home most evenings and felt the kitchen was very well equipped. Highly recommended!
We had the pleasure to stay at Federica's house, which is located perfectly in Modica. It is a beautiful, spacious house and well equipped with everything you could possibly need, especially for an extended stay. The views are simply amazing! At night it was magical. You could lay down in bed and see the "Castle Clock" from the window. We loved it!
Unfortunately, during our stay my husband became quite ill. Federica offered her help and advise if we were to need it. Her kindness and generosity will not be forgotten.
If you go to Modica...don't miss this place!!
We stayed in Federica's apartment for five nights. It was wonderful! The apartment itself is spacious, beautifully furnished, with loads of character. The views were stunning. It was well-stocked with coffee, sugar and water etc. The location was great, right in the heart of Modica. Cannot recommend highly enough.
We stayed 9 days in this lovely appartment. It is nicely situated in the centre of Modica and very well equipped. All the basics we needed were there - coffee, sugar, water, sufficient cutlery, washing machine, towels, etc - very convenient! We loved the beautiful views from the balconies - they are breathtaking during day and night. You need to walk some stairs to reach the appartment from the main street, but it is worth it! Although situated in the centre of Modica, with all shops, restaurants and terraces within few minutes reach, the appartment itself was very quite. Modica is a lovely little town, perfect for a weeks stay, only the traffic to get in and out town could get very busy. Beaches and nice places to visit from about 30 minutes driving distance. All together, we enjoyed our stay and would definately recommend it!
Summary in english: The apartment is comfortable and well equiped, very well situated near the Corso Umberto I. The neighborhood is calm and safe. Be careful if you have difficulties to walk / climb steps as you'll have to climb 100 steps from the main street to reach the apartment. Free park places are available at 5-10 minutes walk. Federica was a great host, very quick to answer our questions, and she gave us great advices for restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay in Modica!
