About This Listing
The modern two bedroom apartment is located one block from the L line subway to Manhattan and is in the heart of Bushwick, a thriving neighborhood of arts and cultures.
The modern two bedroom apartment is located in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The spacious railroad style apartment is a great place to relax after sight-seeing, or working in the city.
Bushwick is an up and coming neighborhood. It is a mescla of industry, families new and old, young artists and entrepreneurs. The recent infusion of great food, venues, and shops is due to the convenience of the L train and economy of the area.
The apartment is conveniently located only two blocks from the Jefferson station on the L train. From here it takes about 15 minutes to the East Village in Manhattan, and is only 20 minutes from Union Square. The commute is quick and simple, also easily accessible to JFK and LGA.
The kitchen, as is the entire apartment, is newly renovated with clean and modern furnishings. Plus the bedrooms both come with extremely comfortable queen sized beds. Unlike most railroad apartments the bedrooms are completely separated and there is beautiful natural light through out. Besides the comfy beds there is plenty of closet space, a couch, dinning for four, a fully equipped kitchen, books to read, and even a scrabble board! Provided for you are fresh linens, towels, coffee and a few breakfast items.
The neighborhood features a 24-hour organic food market, Hana Natural Food (24 Wyckoff). For more mundane sundries, there is also a C Town supermarket up the hill (72 Wyckoff). Also, the corner grocery is great to pick up a few items--and is also open 24 hours a day.
Pearl's Billy Club Bar is a casual, friendly bar only two blocks away (40 St. Nicholas Ave between Scott Ave & Troutman St). It features local brews and a photo booth and friendly regulars. In warm weather, the barkeeps open the front window.
For the adventurous, there is the Narrow Bar on 1037 Flushing. It has a minimal low-lit art-deco design and many inventive cocktails. It can be tricky to find, as the place does not have a sign outside.
Northeast Kingdom around the corner and down the block (18 Wyckoff) has been praised as one of the best restaurants in Brooklyn, with inspired inventive dishes featuring organic and locally-procured ingredients. Except for the cheese plates, the menu is a bit light on veggie dishes. For carnivores, we'd recommend the burger, the BLT, or the short ribs.
A bit of a further of a walk away, there is Arancini Bros. (940 Flushing) which sells only Italian Rice Balls, perfect for lunch or as a light dinner. Another appetite-building walk away is Robertas (261 Moore St), a funky place in the warehouse district selling wood-fired pizza.
The Wykoff Starr coffee shop (30 Wyckoff St) offers a fine range of coffees. And--so our neighbors have told us--the corner store sells a good cup of coffee.

Joab is an excellent host. He is very kind, considerate, and is always willing to help you with whatever you need.
The apartment is a force to be reckoned with. Its clean, comfortable, and the area is very desirable to live in (although when you are studying for exams, its a little TOO lively).
Would highly recommend Joab and his apartment for short and longer term stays.
Joab was a fantastic host, and the place was lovely! This was my first stop for my move to New York, and I couldn't have chosen a better place. Joab was very accommodating, making sure that I felt comfortable in the place and neighborhood, and would tell me about great places and things to check out in the area. The room and apartment was adorable, and was very well kept and organized. Bushwick is such an amazing, diverse, and interesting neighborhood, definitely worth checking out! I'm so happy that I chose this as my first destination, and would happily recommend it to anyone!
I stayed with Joab for almost 4 months and it was great! We are really good friends now, the apartment is perfect, kitchen is big, room has a lot of light, everything is clean. Also the neightborhood is really friendly, has a lot of restaurants, coffe shops and bars around, my favourite, The Pearls. The L train is just 2 blocks away from the apartament and gets you into Manhattan in 15 minutes. But the most important thing is that Joab is the perfect roommate and Ginger was really fast at answering every question. I miss being there.
I stayed at Gingers place for over a month and it was great. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Ginger was great at communicating and answered all my questions promptly. The apartment is very cozy and the room is a good size. The place is literally a one minute walk from the subway which was a big plus for me. Great for anyone who likes to cook since the kitchen is very well equipped with anything one might need. Sometimes it did get noisy on the street at night but only a few days out of the entire time that I was there. Water pressure in the shower was a bit low but was told that its a neighborhood issue that can't be helped. Either way the place is great and would have loved to stay longer!
The perfect place to visit New York. Ginger offers a very nice place in the heard off brooklyn. Transfer to the city is very easy and nearly right next door. You have as well plenty of food posibility.
The communication with Ginger was very easy. I haven´t meet her personally but it was a pleasure for me to stay at here place.
I really enjoyed my stay in Bushwick. The apartment was very well even if I had not realized that we would have roommates. It would have to be clearly stated on the website.
I spent a whole month at this place but I met Ginger only one time for few minutes. However, I met Joab who's very kind and accommodating.
The area is great, but sometimes noisy. But, I really liked the neighborhood where there are several markets, bars and an active artistic life.
Despite many small details, I enjoyed my experience at Brooklyn writer's nook.
Thank you Ginger and Joab!
