Interaction with Guests
Our family no longer lives at the Perch. It's just you diverse world travellers now. We've had over a hundred guests from every corner of the globe, and everyone of you has been interesting and considerate. The house is very quiet and private now with just the caretaker coming and going about twice a week.
The house is only 160 Meters from the main Broadway buses, about 400m to the nearest SkyTrain line, and 850m from the other SkyTrain line's station.
Have fun. Be yourself. Be aware of shared space.
There is no parking available, so we are not open to guests with vehicles.
Also, no smoking, pets or loud parties.
This was a great affordable place for my pal to stay. The shower is a little bit challenging but the place was well kept and check in and out were kept very easy.
Actually my stay at Perch was not the best I had. I booked the green room for 4 weeks but after two weeks of spiders, bugs and more, I told Ella I couldn't stay there anymore. Luckily she was understanding and really nice -she even refund the money for the two weeks which I cancelled without any problem and very quick after I told her about my situation. @Ella: Thanks a lot for handling this situation that easy!
About the house: If you’re the camping type of person and don’t mind spiders, bugs and other insects go ahead. If you mind, STOP! DON’T BOOK!
The appartment is a souterrain and dark. In the green room there's a carpet which smells bad. I suppose it's the same for the other rooms, too. I tried to cover the smell with febreeze and candles but nothing worked.
Bathroom: Old. Dirty. Uncomfartable. It’s true: you get actually used to the low ceiling and somehow you will figure out a way to squat, hold the shower head with one hand and wash yourself with the other. But that's really not the nicest way to take a shower.
The toilet has an incredible chalky deposit which is really disgusting. The sink is small but ok.
Kitchen: Again: If you don't mind about dead and alive insects and dust, the kitchen is quit nice and really well equipped.
Outside: Nice garden with a big table where you can eat or just relax.
Position: It's a quiet and pretty residential area. You need circa 25 minutes to get to downtown by bus (#9, #7, #99). If you take a taxi from the airport it's about 45 $. There is a big Asian Supermarket called T&T nearby (5-10 minutes walk) and a Seveneleven, too.
Fazit: For me it was the worst place I've ever stayed and I would definitely never book this place again. The only positive thing about this place is the host Ella. I never met her personally but her mails were always friendly, informative and I never had to wait long for her to answer.
Hyvällä sijainnilla lähellä skytrain asemaa. Hyvä vastine rahoille. Ella & Greg ystävällisiä ja avuliaita. Auttoivat asioissa mitä tarvitsin. Suosittelen..
The perch is a great place to stay while visiting Vancouver. Ella and Greg are very welcoming hosts and i would definately stay here again on my next visit!
I spent 20 really nice days at Ella and Greg's Green Room. The house is really nice and cute and decorated with care. I had everything I needed and even a washing machine on top of that, which made life here easy and comfortable. - On top, the location is very convenient and the city centre is reachable within an hour's walk.
As there are several rooms for rent, you will certainly come across the other airbnb-peers, which made the trip a lot of fun for me!
I deeply recommend moving in to the Perch!
All the best abd a big thanks to the Ella, Grey & their boyz!
Room is clean and rather spacious.
The house is made of wood, meaning the walls are very thin and it is clairaudient especially when other people are in the basement flat at the same time. However privacy is ensured as each room comes with an own key.
The shower is a sit-in shower, but okay for a couple of days.
Ella is very kind and replies quickly to requests.
My stay was very nice. Ella, Greg and Haven a so lovely people.
The room and the apartment was very good.
It is highly recommended.

About the Host, Ella, Greg & The Boyz
Welcome to the Perch! We are a young(ish) family who no longer live at The Perch, just you World Travelers now! We have progressive values, diverse interests (participatory economics, cooperative living, music, meditation, travel, etc.) and we value giving people the security of a home, and are never quick to take that away. We bend over backwards to make sure whatever might happen to you, you will have a roof over your head and a safe, warm place to sleep. No matter what happens to you, whether you end up in hospital, your home country goes to civil war while you're away, you simply need a mailing address for visas, or just to extend your stay in Canada (it really all happens), we've got your back. Our family of globe trotters has seen and had it all happen to us, and so rest assured, you'll be taken care of.
