Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Room is clean and rather spacious.
The house is made of wood, meaning the walls are very thin and it is clairaudient especially when other people are in the basement flat at the same time. However privacy is ensured as each room comes with an own key.
The shower is a sit-in shower, but okay for a couple of days.
Ella is very kind and replies quickly to requests.

  • My stay was very nice. Ella, Greg and Haven a so lovely people.
The room and the apartment was very good.
    It is highly recommended.

  • The bed was soft, the room was spacious and the location quiet and safe. This is not the place I would recommend to someone looking for a comfortable place to spend a lot of time, being a relatively dark basement. For someone wanting a reasonably priced place to stay while exploring Vancouver, it's good value for money.

  • My and my girlfriend stayed with Ella & Greg for 5 days. We really enjoyed our stay. We especially appreciated the price and the privacy in our own room. Also the kitchen was nicely equipped. Ella & Greg where pretty helpful and kind. All in all a great stay for the price!

  • Not ideal, but good in a pinch - The location a little far for walking around. The shower was not standup, but doable (coming from a guy who is 6'5"). Checkin/out was very smooth. Basically, a basic room in a basement apartment at a cheap price.

  • It was nice to stay there for 4 days. The breakfast isn't included to the total price. For people who want to see the city and get up early it's great to stay there because of the kids making noises in the morning ;) The shower is very small for tall people you might get on your knees to take a shower. The kitchen and the room were very clean and the next bus stop isn't far so we really enjoyed to stay there.

  • We had a great stay in the Green Room. Ella made us feel very welcome upon arrival, and answered all our questions we had. The location was great for travelling downtown and North Vancouver was also accessible by bus - just what we wanted. We would definitely stay again!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the Green Room for 3 days - it was our first visit to Vancouver and we had a great time. Ella and Greg are wonderful hosts and the apartment is very cozy and nicely decorated. The bikes that they rented to us were awesome and we got a chance to explore all of Vancouver on them - from downtown to Stanley Park to the beaches around UBC - barely needing public transportation. It really made our trip special and one of the best vacations I've ever had. Thank you! The sit down shower was quite comfy (but I like sitting in the tub anyway) and we even made use of the sauna twice during our stay. It was a great way to relax in the evenings after a long day of biking.

The location is great - a quiet and beautiful residential area that is close to downtown, either by bus and skytrain or by bike. If you're biking, there's an awesome Italian gelato place with 218 flavors to try on the way to downtown! The T&T Supermarket was also nice to have nearby.

  • Good basic accomodation. The hosts are friendly and nice. There are some good decorative touches. Very close to groceries and transit as noted.

A minor issue is that the ceilings are low and the common area a bit small, so beware of that if you are a bit claustrophobic. Other than that I am very happy to recommend the place.

Welcome to the Perch! We are a young(ish) family who no longer live at The Perch, just you World Travelers now! We have progressive values, diverse interests (participatory economics, cooperative living, music, meditation, travel, etc.) and we value giving people the security of a home, and are never quick to take that away. We bend over backwards to make sure whatever might happen to you, you will have a roof over your head and a safe, warm place to sleep. No matter what happens to you, whether you end up in hospital, your home country goes to civil war while you're away, you simply need a mailing address for visas, or just to extend your stay in Canada (it really all happens), we've got your back. Our family of globe trotters has seen and had it all happen to us, and so rest assured, you'll be taken care of.
