The space

Nestled deep in the shoreline of the atlantic ocean about a mile from the small fishing village of Tifnit in the south of Morocco 40KM from Agadir, 30 mins from the international airport.

My cave was orginally the home of local fishermen and has now been converted into a two-bedroom idyllic off grid retreat with its own showeroom and kitchen with indoor dining area.

The steps of the caves lead directly to miles of sandy beaches with rock outcrops allowing some spaces fo bathing. Please note that this is the atlantic ocean which means the sea can be at times rough.

The price includes breakfast, lunch and dinner excluding wine which can be arranged in advance at extra cost.

WARNING: This cave is for the adventurous if you require a phone signal, internet, restaurants or are hoping to meet lots of new people you will be very unhappy here as there is nothing and nobody for miles. Access is steep and in bad weather a plan b may be required... HOWEVER there is a house manager available at all times, living in the next cave as well as to prepare the mealsand to help you with anything you may need. We are also happy to arrange a transfer from the airport at an extra cost.

Other things to note

Children under 7: free.
Children under 12: 30% off.

If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing, unique get away, this is it! It will be just you and a handful of friendly local fishermen. The cave was very comfortable and the meals that Doudou, the house manager, prepared were delicious. This is definitely one of our most favorite vacations in Morocco.

DarMassa Fishermans cave is an absolutely beautiful place... raw beauty on the edge of the world. If you're looking for some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place for you. PS this is Morocco, so make sure you know how to speak some Arabic, or at the very least you should be able to speak French.

This really was the highlight of our trip to Morocco. Jacqueline was very responsive and helpful in helping us to find our way to the caves. We were traveling around by public bus - and this worked out fine - although does require coordination ahead of time. The cave is beautiful. The meals were excellent. And Doudou - who looks after the cave - was around for any questions and even gave us a ride into Agadir the last day. Bring a book and flip flops. We were there in March and wore jackets at night and in the morning. We spent our time walking the beach, collecting seashells, reading, and sunbathing on the lovely patio. Such a special place.

This was the perfect place to stay after a two week trip Morocco. The cave is not for everyone, but if you enjoy camping with a few modern conveniences, this is a highly recommended place to stay. You have privacy, a beautiful view of the ocean, and the beach is nearly your own. The service was wonderful and low key, and the food was delicious. Be sure to arrange a meeting spot a day before you arrive. The cave is hard to find and phones do not work well. You must be a dog lover is you stay here too. The local dogs pay a visit regularly, but they were very friend and unoffensive.

Staying at Jacqueline's home was one of those rare occurrences in which the experience surpasses all expectations! This is a truly unique and precious place--simultaneously exquistive and simple. The veranda overlooks an expanse of unspoiled Atlantic beach peopled only by local fishermen and an adorable family of friendly dogs--the beauty and power of nature--stars, ocean, sky--are unforgettable and moving. Carved out of the living rock, the cave-bedroom is beautiful and romantic: after a delicious home-cooked Moroccan dinner of garlic-baked fish, I walked into the bedroom to see that every candle had been lit--the play of candlelight over the white-washed rock walls was so lovely and surprising. These are just a few of the spectacular and intimate moments in DarMassa. Jacqueline is one of the kindest and generous people with whom I have ever had contact. She made me feel comfortable and well cared for instantly. The care-taker of her house--Doudou-- is a a kind and resourceful person who went out of his way to make my visit special and comfortable. His Moroccan home-cooking was a delight and he personally prepared and served me three wonderful meals every day. Words do not serve to express just how special this experience is--I know I will often dream about returning to DarMassa--thank you Jacqueline and Doudou!
