We live in beautiful rural Ireland surrounded by lush countryside, historic castles and beautiful woodlands and walks. Our home is very modern designed house that was designed for children and grown up living. We can sleep 10 very easily in our 5 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We also have a separate nanny studio in the garden that has its own kitchen and bathroom. Our kitchen is fully equipped and lots of counter space perfect for large groups or families. Our stove in our sitting room makes the evenings very cosy.
The house is located 1.5km outside the quaint village of Stradbally. Its a really lovely village with all the amenities you would need. A small supermarket, Farmers market where locally produced food is sold, nice cafes offering local fayre. There is a stunning library and Art exhibition centre, A steam train museum and a fab children's playground. Within walking distance there is a lovely equestrian center and trout lake for walks or fishing. Outside the village there is a stunning beech forest with marked trails. Behind the house there is a walk that brings you to stunning views and glimpses of wild goats. Within a ten minute drive there is a ruined caste which provides great views and hours of play. If you're into golf, like a spa or simply want to go for a nice drink or dinner, the Heritage, a 72 par Championship golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros, is near by. There is also a beautiful restored georgian mansion (Emo Court) with stunning walks, garden and cafe.
We are located approximately 80km (62 miles) from Dublin, about a 1 hour drive. The local train station is 15 minutes away and has fast links to Dublin and Cork city. We are about 40 minutes drive from the medieval city of Kilkenny. The location of the house is a great base to tour Ireland. We are at the cross-roads of Ireland half-way between Galway and Dublin, Belfast and Cork, and Donegal and Rosslare.
For nature lovers the immediate area is made up of forests, blanket bog of a type which is unique to Ireland, interspersed with hidden valleys of great character. It includes farmland bounded by hedgerows full of bird and plant life. Anyone who loves the Outdoors will enjoy a visit to the Slieve Bloom Mountains which are about 20 minutes from our home, whether on foot, bicycle, horseback or in the comfort of the family car. It is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
