The Space

For a city break in Cambridge, a business trip, for parents visiting or bringing a student to the University, for convenient access to Addenbrookes Teaching Hospital, this house provides the perfect base for your stay.

The Accommodation:
We have a lovely stylish, light and very comfortable house in Trumpington, Cambridge, a short distance from the city centre. It has everything you would want for your stay - a four poster bed in the double bedroom upstairs, a spacious lounge, attractive dining area, fully fitted kitchen, upstairs bathroom and downstairs shower room. If there are more than two of you, you are also most welcome to use the extremely comfortable sofa bed in the living room. We also can provide a travel cot for a baby.

The living room has a TV, DVD and leads onto the dining area, kitchen and the downstairs shower room. It also has a beautiful Broadwood piano, which you are welcome to play! There are also board games and books for you to browse. The kitchen is semi-open-plan to the living room - it has a fridge-freezer, gas hob, electric oven and grill, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave oven, all of which you are most welcome to use. The master bedroom upstairs also has a TV and inbuilt DVD and the upstairs bathroom has a full size bath, with a shower over it.

We will not be in the property when you stay, so you will have the house to yourselves. However, we are close by and you can contact us about anything you need or would like to know. We will make sure you have plenty of tea and coffee, and fresh milk. If you happen to arrive on one of Kate's baking days, we will leave you some of her delicious bakes. But in any case, we'll make sure there is a little something to keep you going when you arrive.

There is gas fired central heating throughout the house.

We have wireless internet access.

There is ample off-street car parking space for up to three cars right outside the house.

There are frequent buses into the centre of Cambridge which you can catch close by the house, or a 10 min cycle if you are renting bikes and just a 40 min walk.

The Neighborhood

The Area:
Eating - We are lucky to be within two minutes walk of a traditional English pub and restaurant, The Green Man, and the Wok'n'Grill Chinese restaurant. If you fancy cooking for yourself, there is a Waitrose less than ten minutes walk away. But even better, go into town to the daily market and choose some fresh locally grown produce. There is a fresh fish stall selling North sea fish and Norfolk oysters caught that morning, an organic veg stall on a Sunday morning (get there early!), a bread stall and a stall selling a fantastic range of coffee beans and teas. Also try the Cambridge Cheese Shop close to St John's College for some fantastic delicacies.

Exploring - From the house, you can easily walk to the delightful village of Grantchester, relax at the Orchard Tea Rooms made famous by Rupert Brooke and Virginia Woolfe, have a drink in one of the traditional English pubs in the village (all three serve great food), then saunter through the meadows along the river Cam into the city centre.

Getting around

Frequent bus service into Cambridge city centre and Railway station.

Other Things to Note

Parking for up to 3 cars right outside the house.

  • An excellent stay in Paul's lovely house. He has covered everything a guest could want. The house was very clean, kitchen very well equipped, bed very comfortable and good quality linens too. We met Paul briefly --a very lovely man

  • We enjoyed our stay in Trumpington. The bed was especially comfortable and the house was well appointed and the ability to park right outside was good. Local places to eat out within a minute proved reasonable. A Waitrose is only 5 minutes walk. We walked in to the city and also to Granchester and along the river towards Cambridge.

  • Nice clean apartment, great location with easy access into Cambridge city center (via car rental). Supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Paul was very easy to communicate with and had a nice manual with info about the house and suggestions for what to do nearby. They even provided a cot for our daughter which was very convenient! Thanks so much for a very comfortable stay.

  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay in and around Cambridge, made all the more comfortable and enjoyable by being able to relax and unwind in Paul's lovely home in Trumpington. The living room was perfect for chilling out and we loved having a piano available to rattle off a few songs; the bed and bedroom were extremely comfortable, making it that bit harder to leave the house; and we had a sweet welcome gift waiting for us on our arrival.

Although we never met in person, Paul was throughout the whole process both welcoming and friendly as well as quick to respond to any queries.

We couldn't recommend Paul and the house highly enough. Thank you again!

  • Thanks for a lovely stay in Cambridge! The house was just right for us, and with the sunshine this weekend, it was great to have access to the garden too. Bedroom and bathrooms were lovely, living room and dining area very comfortable too, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Paul was very organised about our trip and communicated with us in a prompt and friendly manner, which we appreciated. We'd definitely recommend this place to you if you're looking for comfortable and homely base to stay in whilst visiting Cambridge. Looking forward to staying here again soon!

  • Paul's house was lovely and spacious with everything we needed. It is modern, with all of the bits and bobs you want and very nice bathrooms and bedroom. We enjoyed lounging on the huge bean bag in the sitting room.

The location is great, just the right distance from town, with a nice walk through parkland to get there and a lovely star-lit stroll home from dinner. We really enjoyed Cambridge and we'll surely be back before too long!

We work in the historic and stunningly beautiful city of Cambridge. My wife is an academic at Cambridge University, I work at a technology company near Cambridge. We have 5 children, 2 at university and 3 still living at home. We use our Cambridge house about 1/3 of the time, spending the rest of our time in Suffolk: we'd like it to get a bit more use, that's why we've put it on AirBnB.
