The space

TigmiAmaou is Morocco’s first holiday treehouse, which nestles in the gardens high up amongst the trees. Built entirely of wood, with a balcony on all sides, this charming hideaway enjoys the most magnificent views across the valley to the surrounding Atlas Mountains.

Marrakech gives a very European impression of Morocco. Head just few hours out of the city and you'll find a completely different atmosphere.

A stay here, allows guests to feel completely at one with nature, whilst relaxing in bed or on their private terrace, listening to the sound of birdsong from the surrounding trees.

Inside, the cosy bedroom has been tastefully designed combining a clean Scandinavian feel with warm Berber touches. It offers spacious and comfortable accommodation with a king-size bed (which can be separated into twin beds), a stylish mirrored glass shower cubicle and a separate wc.

For chillier winter evenings, a magnificent wood-burning stove helps makes the bedroom even cosier. Coffee and tea-making facilities, as well as a hair-dryer, are also provided.

After an adventurous trip through the High Atlas, we finally found Douar Samra, a small village above Imlil. Even at night and in the dark, they helped us with luggage and we got warm food. The tree house was pre-heated and everything was as illustrated by the pictures. Really good first impression!! The food during our 2 day stay was good and the people were friendly and helpful. They also organized a hiking trip with the best local tour guide Hassan (ask for him, it's worth it) :). Overall great experience, even if we were covered in snow for 2 days! Prepare for moody wheater in March!

This guesthouse and our stay in Imlil was the highlight of our trip. The surroundings were amazing and the staff at Douar Samra were on par. We ate wonderful traditional meals with the other guests and swapped stories. I would highly recommend a stay.

The Treehouse is just divine. The design is so warm and cozy and the views spectacular. It is truly a special place. It is hard to explain what a wonderful the treehouse is to stay because it is not just an accommodation but the full experience of the place. Meals are eaten communally with other guests in a traditional Berber salon decorated beautifully -- and at night lit only by candle and fire light -- so atmospheric. Rachida is Jacqueline's house manager and facilitates everything --with the help of Muhammad-- and cooks all the delicious meals. The food was some of the very best that we had our entire time in Morocco. There is lots to do nearby, particularly if you are interested in walking/hiking through the sublime landscape! I really cannot recommend it enough! The only downside was that the internet did not work the entire time we were there.

A perfect holiday experience. We loved the treehouse. If you like a cosy hideaway in the middle of the mountains with a true Berber atmosphere: GO! Apparently there are good opportunities for guided tours...but we prefered to stay "home" and enjoy the calm around us. Transfer was organised perfectly and the hosts are very kind (thanks Rashida, for the warm welcome). There are also lovely "litte thing" that you have to find out for yourself. Thank you so much, we will keep the place in our heard for a long time!
