Cosy and comfortable, the cottage is a surprising size once inside the front door. Near to the centre with good links by bus or DART, it is in a quieter district of the city, with bars, shops and restaurants a-plenty. It is perfect for business.

Cosy and comfortable, the cottage is a surprising size once inside the front door. Near to the centre with good links by bus or DART, it is in a quieter district of the city, with bars, shops and restaurants a-plenty. It is perfect for business.

The Space

Number Nine is also the ideal spot for your weekend getaway, or midweek city break. The cottage offers two very comfortable bedrooms with double beds and lots of storage space for your luggage to be out of the way and clothes hung up on rails.

There is a very large kitchen with everything you'd expect to find (email hidden) area, the dining area is adjacent and leads out through full length glass doors to the courtyard garden. This is the perfect place to relax after a busy day.

There is fast internet broadband over wifi - enough for video conferencing, and there is access to a small office space from the second bedroom if a desk and chair were needed. A printer and paper can be provided on request.

Take a good look at the map (tab above) to see what is on offer locally, or see https://www.airbnb.ie/rooms/69785/guidebook- you won't be disappointed

Guest Access

The cottage is not occupied by anyone but you during your stay. We have lock box located externally for access to the keys, we'll give you the code for this, either before the stay if we can't meet you, or when we do meet you.
If a door or cupboard cannot be opened easily, it is not intended that you do. This is storage space for the housekeeper. There is only one such place in the cottage, and it is doubtful you will come across it.

Interaction with Guests

We try our best to meet our guests on arrival, give them a tour of the cottage, hand them keys, and then leave them to their own devices. We are on the phone for urgent situations, and live nearby.

The Neighborhood

Ballsbridge has lots of amenitites: restaurants, bars, an ATM, a park, a river walk, the RDS for concerts, rugby union and conferences, and good transport links into the city centre. It is quieter here than just about anywhere else in the city - rest assured (pun intended).

In the heart of Dublin's Embassy Quarter, Number Nine seems a million miles from the busy city centre; and yet, it is right in it. Stephen's Green is a twenty minute stroll; you will be passing some of the finest Georgian buildings in Ireland, through the leafy streets of Ballsbridge. Herbert Park is just across the main road and is a little oasis of calm in the busy centre of Ballsbridge. There are more restaurants in this square mile than almost anywhere else in Dublin. There are Pubs and Cafés too.

Getting around

We are very well connected to Dublin's Public transport system. Bus stops for routes into town and out for further exploration are very accessible, just two minute walk form the front door; DART services are ten minutes walk on Lansdaowne Road; and taxis pass so regularly that you'd swear we had them on tap!

Other Things to Note

We can't provide parking for this property - don't bring a car if you can help it.

  • Beautiful apartment....everything was very organized and ready for us. Location was quiet but close enough to action in downtown.

  • We had a lovely time at the flat. We stayed here with our boys, ages 6 and 3. They loved playing in the back garden and at the play structure at Herbert Park, a 3 minute walk away. It is a safe, clean neighborhood. An easy bus ride or doable walk into central Dublin. We didn't meet Marie-Louise, but communication via email was prompt and clear.

  • The rooms were clean and neat, but missing small little things (e.g., there was no hand-washing soap in either the bathroom or the kitchen, the toilet paper dispenser was broken, no sponge/brush for washing dishes, etc). The location was great -- easy walking distance to St Steven's Green and Grafton Street. Marie Louise offered to have her friendly taxi cab driver pick us up from the airport and for her to meet us at the apartment when we arrived, but there was some mix up and we never met the taxi driver or Marie Louise. Fortunately, Marie Louise gave us enough details to let us get ourselves situated. Overall, I would recommend this apartment and Marie Louise as a host.

  • Beautiful cottage. Conveniently located a five minute walk from the DART (train) which brings you to the city centre in less than 10 minutes and also travels along the scenic coastline, in the opposite direction. Our hosts arranged for us to be collected from the airport by the friendly and informative taxi driver, Thomas. The area around the cottage is quiet yet just around the corner from shops, bars and restaurants. Really hope to be back again soon! Too much to fit into a weekend!

  • A lovely cottage away from touristy area, close to DART (train) that was only about 15 min. to Center City.Very convenient to take cab directly to cottage to and from airport. Marie-Louise arranged pick up and we were very grateful. Very clean and comfortable.

  • Our cottage stay was quite lovely! The cottage is well-appointed, very comfortable, and one couldn't ask for nicer neighbors! We enjoyed ending our nights and starting our mornings on the terrace, and the location is a brisk 15 minute walk to Trinity College. Highly recommend, and would definitely stay again! Many thanks to Marie-Louise and Marcus for their warm hospitality! A++

  • We did not have the chance to meet Marie Louise. However she left all the instructions and left everything prepared. It is a great neighborhood and an amazing place to stay. Highly recommended

  • Sweet apartment! Great WiFi! Very convenient location, easy to get to via AirCoach from the airport. Very secluded, while being just 30 min walk to city center. Thank you!

  • Marie-Louise’s cottage in Ballsbridge is a delightful respite from the hustle-and-bustle of downtown Dublin, yet conveniently located so that all the attractions are a short twenty-minute walk away. The house was cozy, spacious, and welcoming, everything a traveler would want on a long or short stay.
Be aware that Marie-Louise may not always be readily available, especially when she is on holiday. This became especially important when our flight was delayed and we ended up having to pay extra for a taxi she had arranged.

  • Marie-Louise's cottage (email hidden) to stay to begin our Ireland trip and explore Dublin. The beds were comfortable and the location was very quiet. We enjoyed being able to buy groceries (Centra was very nearby on Shelbourne for groceries) and take-away nearby to eat-in at the cottage. We found the cottage to be within walking distance to downtown although there is a bus stop close by too. Having Thomas and his taxi meet us at the airport was a treat after a long flight. Thank you Marie-Louise for suggesting and arranging this for us! I would highly recommend this cottage as a very comfortable place to stay in Dublin!

About
I am an artist living and working between Dublin and Italy. I make original print (if this needs explaining, visit my website, a quick search on my name will get it for you). The cottage in Ballsbridge was my studio for years; I just recently turned it back to use as a home. The Apartment in Barrow Street is a purpose built, modern design and tidy sapce in the centre of Dublin's information technology hub in a safe and friendly apartment block. The other property, in Kinsale is a fabulous Georgian period three storey townhouse that is our escape from the capital. Feel free to contact us at any time, we try very hard to respond to requests quickly. Marie-Louise Martin
