Our location seems to be in a prime owl habitat for we often hear them hooting throughout the night and there seems to a variety of species judging from the different hoots we hear. In early spring and late autumn we sometimes spot great horned owls on their yearly migrations. Their calls are thrilling to hear. There is also a nesting pair of golden eagles that live on nearby Stone Mountain and we can often see them soaring over our meadows on thermals. It appears that they have reared at least two more eaglets that we also spotted in the summer of 2015. Bring your binoculars.
. We ask that guests leave the premises in basically the same condition that they found it. Pets are an additional $10/night/pet. Dog owners are required to pick up after their pets. No smoking indoors. The state of Maine requires we charge 9% rooms tax. The tax is not included in the Airbnb rate and will have to be collected directly from guests upon arrival or check out. We are native New Yorkers who moved to New England in the early '70's and love the tranquility and space our farm affords. We have been hosting guests for over 25 years now - first in our bed and breakfast home and then renovated a small cottage and finally built a log cabin to accommodate the larger number of guests coming to the area . We enjoy the seasonal changes and are extremely active in the outdoors -- biking, hiking, snowshoeing, canoeing. horseback riding -- so we can provide great information about those activities for our guests. Also own a sailboat on which we've sailed to the Caribbean and all along the east coast of US. Theresa is licensed massage therapist, Rieki and esoteric healing practitioner and many guests avail themselves of her skills. We love to travel and usually head to warmer climates during the winter months while others look after our property. Our destinations have included Africa, Thailand, Argentina, Peru, Chile and Venezuela and others. We enjoying relating our travel experiences to our guests and hearing about theirs -indeed we have traveled to several locations based on the recommendations of our guests.
