Maura was a really friendly and warm person. She made us extremely welcome. We met several members of her family and really felt at home. Everything was as described and all was very clean. She deserved her 'super host' status.
Maura and family are excellent hosts. After only two nights, we were sorry to be leaving. Breakfast was fine, the room and its en suite facilities were fine, and Maura gave good directions to taking buses. We would be happy to stay longer in future, and we recommend it.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay with Maura and Mick. The room was every bit as described, very clean, and with much appreciated 'extras' such as a fan to battle the heat of early July, or fresh water. Breakfast came with plenty of fruit, cereals, toast and jam and tea or coffee. We were made to feel very much at home and greatly enjoyed getting to know more of Maura and Mick. They had plenty of advice on what to do and see and were most helpful with getting a visitor's parking permit for us for the duration of our stay. Maura's place is within 15-20 mins walking distance to the town center, and we enjoyed every minute of that walk which takes you through some of the prettiest grounds of Oxford. Alternatively, the bus into town stops right outside Maura's house. We would most definitely stay with Maura again!
Maura and Mick were wonderful hosts. They were very welcoming and very helpful. Their house was in a central position close to the centre of town which you could walk to or catch a bus just out the front door.
I had a lovely stay with Maura and Mick while in Oxford. They are very kind and welcoming hosts (and their lovely dog too!). The room was very clean and comfortable (despite the unexpected heat) and Maura kindly left breakfast in the kitchen each morning. It's a nice walk to the centre of Oxford through the park. Definitely would recommend as a place to stay.
Maura and Mick were excellent hosts, making us feel very welcome. The room and bathroom were just as described and their house is in a lovely area, just a very nice walk into Oxford.
Maura and Mick had lots of tips for what to do in Oxford, and helped us make the most of our stay. Highly recommended.
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying with Maura and Mick, and their lovely dog Fennie. Their home is comfortable and cozy, and breakfast was very casual, just relaxed helping ourselves to fresh fruit, toast, and cereal. Loved it, and can't wait to return. If you can, get Mick to sing for you!
About the Host, Maura
I'm Maura & my husband's name is Mick. We have a daughter and two sons who have now left home, so there is now space in our home.
I'm a retired nurse and interested in art and walking especially with my dog. Mick is a retired builder and sings & plays traditional Irish music. Oxford & Irish music has been an important part of our lives.
Oxford is a place where people from all over the world meet, through university, language schools & the teaching hospital...and of course the music scene!
We have a young Collie dog that loves meeting people...she can sometimes be a little too affectionate, so has to spend time in the garden
We hope you'll find our home friendly & welcoming. Tea & a chat is optional & all sorts of sport and politics discussed- with Mick at least!
