The Space

Welcome to Philadelphia!

Come stay in a private room located on the main floor of our beautiful home called, The Oasis!! Your room is away from all of the other bed rooms (located upstairs) and has a twin bed. The room also has a desk, a closet with plenty of space for you to store your clothing, and a nice window.

The guest room was decorated by my twin sister Taiye, who is a professional interior designer. An interesting fact about our home is as a Kaplan host we have had an array of international guest! Some of our guest have come as far as Italy, Venezuela, Columbia and Brazil!

The bathroom is suite style, so you have a door to the bathroom from your room (there is also another door leading into the bathroom from the living room). The bathroom has both a shower and a tub.

As a guest in our home you have access to the kitchen, the dining room and the living room! A light continental breakfast will be served the first week of a two week or more reservation!

The house is located within blocks of University City --just a train ride away on the market El and Center City!

If you have any more questions about staying in my home, please reach out to me in a message and I would be more than happy to answer you!

  • Wow! Wow! Wow! Words cannot express what an amazing experience I had living in this home! I had to opportunity of doing a clinical rotation for 3 months in Philadelphia and this home and family provided me with great memories I will always cherish.

From the first day I moved in, Lola and her family greeted me with true love and kindness. They provided me with information of how to navigate around the area since I had never been in the area. They also provided me with basic necessities to make my transition into the home very easy. They took me to do laundry with them, and also took me grocery shopping whenever I was in need. Lola, her twin sister Taiye, and her husband Mathias are great women and man of God I was happy to be in a home where you could feel God's love through them. They were never hesitant to provide me assist me when I needed it and would always go out of their way to make sure I was doing okay.

The neighborhood was very quiet and very accessible with both public (bus stop is right outside their back door) and personal transportation (never had a problem with parking when I had a rental care). Their home is also very close to the train station so it was great to have options just in case I missed the bus. Their home is also very close to two coffee shops that I grew to love. While my rotation was in the Rittenhouse Square area, it was great to be able to escape back to their neighborhood each day away from all the hustle and bustle of city life in Philadelphia.

If I am ever in the Philadelphia area, this would definitely be my number one place to stay!

  • I loved my 1 month stay at the Oasis! My room and bathroom were clean when I arrived. Lola had snakes and breakfast ready for me in the fridge. The house was always quiet for me to do my studies. The location was great too. 10 min away from the Megabus and Bolt bus to take you anywhere in the states. I took the Megabus for a 2hr ride back to NYC. I WALKED to the Philly zoo from the house (30 min walk, 7 min drive), That was an amazing experience! Lola and her family were great people too. They helped me find my way through the city. They suggested great places for me to eat and explore. Lola and her husband dropped me off at the bus stop to NY when my cab was late. They made me feel like part of the family and always made sure I was comfortable. They also hosted a friend of mine for 2 nights which was really nice of them. I will definitely book again here at the Oasis when I go to Philly!!!

  • I had a nice time staying with Lola and her sister. The house and the room were comfortable, and especially the private bathroom is a plus. They are really easy-going and I felt comfortable staying in their home.

The one slightly less positive aspect would be that my impression was that the general area is not that great. The house itself is in a quiet residential street, but a few blocks down are some streets that I personally felt slightly uncomfortable walking down on my own, especially at night. This was a slight issue for me because I only had a few days in Philly and wanted to be flexible and get the most out of my time there. I think that longer-staying guests who have the time (or patience!) to figure out the bus and train system and which streets to avoid should be absolutely fine. I resorted to using cabs, thought I did encounter a few grumpy drivers and dispatchers who refused to go to the address or seemed not to know it.

All in all though, great house, lovely hosts and good value for money, especially for a longer stay.

  • I had the best time at this Private Oasis! Lola was very welcoming and hospitable! I was even invited to attend events that she and her sister Taiye were putting on, and I met a great deal of wonderful people, who also came to my Performances! I was there for a one-month Opera program, and this room was the perfect escape from the stress of rehearsals and coachings. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wanted privacy as well as the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

  • I came to Philadelphia from Canada in January and I stayed the whole 3 months at Lola's house.
It was a really great experience.
The neighborhood was safe and quiet, only 5 min away from the nearest subway station and a cvs store and a supermarket. Only 15 min walking to UPenn campus, where there were lots of great shopping stores and bars and restaurants.
Lola's place was really comfortable, clean and she was a caring kind host. She helped me a lot finding addresses and places in Philly.
I was studying for an exam the whole 3 months and she was really supportive.
I had everything availble for cooking in the kitchen as well.
Highly Highly recommend it to any one coming to Philly for either short or long stay and I would definitly come back in future
