Welcome to Philadelphia!
Come stay in a private room located on the main floor of our beautiful home called, The Oasis!! Your room is away from all of the other bed rooms (located upstairs) and has a twin bed. The room also has a desk, a closet with plenty of space for you to store your clothing, and a nice window.
The guest room was decorated by my twin sister Taiye, who is a professional interior designer. An interesting fact about our home is as a Kaplan host we have had an array of international guest! Some of our guest have come as far as Italy, Venezuela, Columbia and Brazil!
The bathroom is suite style, so you have a door to the bathroom from your room (there is also another door leading into the bathroom from the living room). The bathroom has both a shower and a tub.
As a guest in our home you have access to the kitchen, the dining room and the living room! A light continental breakfast will be served the first week of a two week or more reservation!
The house is located within blocks of University City --just a train ride away on the market El and Center City!
If you have any more questions about staying in my home, please reach out to me in a message and I would be more than happy to answer you!

Interaction with Guests
Because l live in the home you will always have access to me. I like to meet my guest at whatever level they are interested in engaging me at the time. I understand that many times guest simply want to be left alone to study and other guest love being social. Which ever you are, I am a pretty flexible person so I am sure you would have a wonderful stay!
The neighborhood is diverse, with several international restaurants within walking distance. It's conventionally located accessing several of the city's main attractions such as Penn, Drexel and Center Center, via public transportation or driving. The neighborhood is being gentrified so there are some differences in presentation depending on which block you are on, but my block is beautiful to say the least! (My block recently entered the Most Beautiful Block in Philadelphia contest!) You should know that there are some blocks in and around my neighborhood that guest have commented feeling uneasy walking down, particularly at night. This is to expected in any urban community. That said, I have lived in the community for eight years and have always felt safe and my guest haven't had any problems. :)
Our home is also conveniently located to several modes of transportation. The 31 bus route which takes you into the heart of the city as well as Drexel and UPenn is located just one block from our home at 46st and Fairmont. The Sept Train Station is located at 46st and market, another two blocks from our home. We also have a house bike that guest are always welcome to at no extra charge.
Other Things to Note
I think what's most unique about my space is that it literally is an Oasis in the middle of the City! (My block) is quiet, picture perfect in the early mornings with birds filling the air with music and offers a pleasant view with trees and beautifully manicured lawns! Come and see for yourself!

I am very satisfied with my 8 week stay. Lola and her family are very welcoming. They even had me for Thanksgiving dinner. The room is very comfortable with a private bathroom. There is plenty of street parking. I was always able to park in front of their home. If I ever came back to Philadelphia, I would definitely stay at Lola's place again!
Lola and her husband are wonderful. They were by far the best part of the experience. They welcome you into their home and family with open arms and an open heart. They even lent me their bike while I was there. There home is quite lovely and is on a nice street. I was a little dissapointed with the location as it is the heart of West phili which, unbeknownst to me when I booked, is one of the rougher neighborhoods. At first I felt uncomfortable there but had no incidents during the month. As the neighborhood continues to gentrify this place will be a real gem.
Lola and her family were very attentive with me, always trying to help. Everything was just like in the advertisement. the house and neighborhood are very calm and safe, I didn't have any problem. There is a bus station and a subway station near, within a walkable distance, that you can go to everywhere in the city. And whatever you need you can ask them, they always try to help.
I had a great stay with Lola and her husband. The place was clean and they were real sweet.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Words cannot express what an amazing experience I had living in this home! I had to opportunity of doing a clinical rotation for 3 months in Philadelphia and this home and family provided me with great memories I will always cherish.
From the first day I moved in, Lola and her family greeted me with true love and kindness. They provided me with information of how to navigate around the area since I had never been in the area. They also provided me with basic necessities to make my transition into the home very easy. They took me to do laundry with them, and also took me grocery shopping whenever I was in need. Lola, her twin sister Taiye, and her husband Mathias are great women and man of God I was happy to be in a home where you could feel God's love through them. They were never hesitant to provide me assist me when I needed it and would always go out of their way to make sure I was doing okay.
The neighborhood was very quiet and very accessible with both public (bus stop is right outside their back door) and personal transportation (never had a problem with parking when I had a rental care). Their home is also very close to the train station so it was great to have options just in case I missed the bus. Their home is also very close to two coffee shops that I grew to love. While my rotation was in the Rittenhouse Square area, it was great to be able to escape back to their neighborhood each day away from all the hustle and bustle of city life in Philadelphia.
If I am ever in the Philadelphia area, this would definitely be my number one place to stay!
I loved my 1 month stay at the Oasis! My room and bathroom were clean when I arrived. Lola had snakes and breakfast ready for me in the fridge. The house was always quiet for me to do my studies. The location was great too. 10 min away from the Megabus and Bolt bus to take you anywhere in the states. I took the Megabus for a 2hr ride back to NYC. I WALKED to the Philly zoo from the house (30 min walk, 7 min drive), That was an amazing experience! Lola and her family were great people too. They helped me find my way through the city. They suggested great places for me to eat and explore. Lola and her husband dropped me off at the bus stop to NY when my cab was late. They made me feel like part of the family and always made sure I was comfortable. They also hosted a friend of mine for 2 nights which was really nice of them. I will definitely book again here at the Oasis when I go to Philly!!!
I had a nice time staying with Lola and her sister. The house and the room were comfortable, and especially the private bathroom is a plus. They are really easy-going and I felt comfortable staying in their home.
The one slightly less positive aspect would be that my impression was that the general area is not that great. The house itself is in a quiet residential street, but a few blocks down are some streets that I personally felt slightly uncomfortable walking down on my own, especially at night. This was a slight issue for me because I only had a few days in Philly and wanted to be flexible and get the most out of my time there. I think that longer-staying guests who have the time (or patience!) to figure out the bus and train system and which streets to avoid should be absolutely fine. I resorted to using cabs, thought I did encounter a few grumpy drivers and dispatchers who refused to go to the address or seemed not to know it.
All in all though, great house, lovely hosts and good value for money, especially for a longer stay.

I am a 33 year old working professional. My Philadelphia home is my primary residence, but I currently live in AZ with my husband who is a pastor and chemical engineer by trade. I travel between AZ and my Philly home seasonally. My twin sister, Taiye ( fYI, the beautiful brunette in the profile picture is not my twin! lol she is one of our favorite guest that we hosted from Brazil!) who is a teacher and interior designer lives in the home year round. She is great and we both are looking forward to hosting you!
