About this listing
Located in the popular Mississippi/Williams neighborhood. You'll have the entire top floor of the home to yourself; this private space includes a bedroom w/queen size bed and TV, a sitting room with chaise lounge and desk and your own bathroom.
Please consider our home on your Portland visit. We live in a very clean and well maintained two story home located in the heart of the Boise neighborhood. Living with us are three adorable and well behaved mutts. Williams Avenue with all it's restaurants and shops is two and a half blocks away; Mississippi Street is 5 blocks away. New Seasons grocery is a block away. Pretty much everything you need is within a 5 minute walk: shops, great food, Mississippi Studios, craft beer, live music, bike lane, mass transit and much more.
The bed has a newer good quality mattress outfitted with nice bedding and a selection of pillows.
The house has a livingroom, diningroom, kitchen and family room with cable TV and WIFI. There's a fully fenced backyard with a deck, outdoor dining table and seating.
1. We live on the #4 bus line which means you'll have easy access to mass transit but you'll also hear the bus on the street. We don't feel it's all that noticeable; nothing more than the usual sounds of a city but if you're super sensitive to sound, this is not the place for you.
2. This house doesn't have airconditioning because in this climate, we don't think it is necessary. During the summer months, when we feel it's needed, we rely on window fans which do the job quite well as Portland evening temperatures generally drop enough to cool off the house. We've had the house insulated and a fan system attached to our furnace and as a result the house doesn't heat up drastically. Having said all that, if some atypical heat wave hits Portland it may get warm. Also, if the sound of fans will keep you awake, you should consider this. We've never had any complaints but we want to give you full discloure as we want your trip to Portland to be the best it can be.
Additionally, we have two lovable mutts who are indoor dogs. Our house is very clean and we have a whole house air filter system but if indoor dogs aren't your thing you won't want to stay with at our house.
If you're good with an urban location check the place out. we really think you'll love it and you can't beat the location.
Large bedroom with queen size bed, sitting area and TV w/AppleTV.
Off street parking for one car.
Private fully fenced backyard with BBQ.
WIFI and cable with premium channels.
Well equipped kitchen.
Close to bike paths and mass transit.
Car2Go easily found nearby.
One full bathroom on upper level which you'll likely have to yourselves.
Please note this home does not have airconditioning (not usually an issue in this climate).
You will be sharing the whole house with two adults and three dogs. We work during the week and are usually busy on the weekends. Additionally, we've got a separate space in the basement we like to hang out in so, you'll have a lot of privacy as your rooms are on the top floor of the house. We're long time Portland residents and are happy to give you information and suggestions.
Our home is very clean and comfortable. Your bedroom and sitting room are on the top floor of the house along with the bathroom which you will likely have to yourself. The living room, diningroom, kitchen, and den are on the main floor. We have a large backyard deck great for enjoying some outdoor time. Our front porch is also suitable for hanging out and watching the world go by. Please note our street, while not super busy, but does have a fair amount of traffic as it's an access to the popular Mississippi Avenue. This bedroom is at the front of the house. The windows are double paned and filter out most of the noise and we've never received complaints from our guests. However, we do want to disclose this in the event you require absolute silence.
Interaction with Guests
You will be sharing the whole house with two adults and three dogs. We work during the week and are usually busy on the weekends. We are always very respectful of your space and privacy. We're happy to interact or leave you alone, as you wish.
It's very walkable and bike able and offers a great many shops, restaurants as well as a few live music venues.
The number 4, and 44 bus stop is one block away. The Overlook Max stop is about 3/4 of a mile to the west of our home and you can easily walk there. Zipcar and Car2Go are also nearby.
Other Things to Note
We do have three dogs and while you can see from our reviews, our home is very clean and the dogs are well behaved, we understand that some people aren't interested in pets and we want you to make the most informed choice for your Portland accommodation.
Check in after 2 pm and check out at noon. No house parties. No smoking. No overnight guests you haven't told us about. Please be considerate of our neighbors and watch the noise level outdoors. If using the kitchen please clean up after yourselves and replace any pantry/cupboard items you use a lot of. Recycle as much as possible. Reimburse us for any priced On Demand cable shows you watch. Please be respectful of our things and home - treat them as you would your own.
We've stayed in several Airbnbs and this experience was one of the best-- very clean, private, spacious, conveniently located, and beautifully appointed. Dianne is an awesome and generous host, with great taste! Her dogs are also lovely housemates. Great value, would stay again.
Dianne's house is beautiful and perfectly situated for exploring the trendy areas of Portland. We had an amazing stay here! The entire upstairs was our private area to come and go as we pleased. The bedroom was large, had a TV with anything we wanted to watch, and the bed was really comfy! It was also great to be able to park in the driveway instead of looking for street parking. Dianne was extremely helpful and guided us towards a number of great places to eat and see live music. She even drove us to our concert on our last day! She was always available and very flexible, but never intrusive. So much to see within walking distance of this place and just a quick bus ride or drive over into downtown. This was the perfect stay in Portland! We would love to return!
Her home is warm, spotless, and filled with interesting artwork. We especially loved the dogs, they were sweet, calm, and extremely well behaved. We were at first hesitant to book a room (rather than an entire place) but we were given all the space and privacy we needed. The bedroom is spacious enough and the bed was super soft. The sitting room was a great place for us to put our luggage and get ready in the morning. Even the bathroom was always, always clean.
The location was really convenient. The 4 bus is just outside and will take you downtown in less than 20 minutes. There's also a supermarket right across the street. The house is also really easy to spot with its unique door art!
We would 100% stay here again if given the chance to visit Portland again! Dianne was incredibly accommodating and helpful.
Dianne was spectacular! This was the first time my husband and I have ever stayed in a BnB and we hope all future experiences are just as amazing. She confirmed our flight information with us to ensure that we would not have any trouble finding her home in the evening we arrived. During our stay she gave us great tips and suggestions for places to eat and how to take the bus/train in and out of the Portland area. She even suggested a neat barber shop in town that served a cold beer while you get your haircut! The area around her home was quiet and felt safe. Her home was very clean and organized which was a relief to us. Our room was quite large and it also had a closet. It was quite warm in Portland while we were there and the air-conditioner in the bedroom was very helpful. The bathroom was also very clean and I never felt like I had to share with anyone else in the house (except my husband). She provided clean towels, sheets, soap, conditioner & shampoo, and even some snacks in our room. We LOVED her three dogs too. They were very sweet, quiet, and not too demanding of attention. It made us feel like we were staying with a family member while staying with Dianne. My husband and I had such a wonderful experience. We hope to come back and stay with her in the future.
Dianne is the best host we've ever had. She welcomed us with her 3 lovely dogs and showed us her neighbors on our first day. Her house is located in between Mississippi and Williams streets which both are full of bars and cute stores. You can go either those streets by walk for 10-15minutes from her house. She gave us a lot of information of good restaurants and bars. She even gave us a ride to this awesome brunch place on our last day. I and my husband could enjoy our short Portland trip well because of her!
about her place: Clean bathroom and bedroom. It could be very private or open if you want. Dogs are super friendly but even if you are not a dog person, I think it is totally okay because they don't bother you at all if you don't feel like to hang with them.
Thank you Dianne again! We hope to see you again 3
Our stay at Dianne's place was fantastic. We were welcomed into the home as if we were family. The house is in a fun neighborhood and Dianne went above and beyond by providing us with information on the restaurants, bars and other attractions. We were only in Portland for two nights but thanks to her we got the most of our trip. Plus the dogs were all very friendly and we loved playing with them. Would definitely go back any time we are in Portland again!
Dianne and her three super sweet lovable dogs were wonderful hosts! The house is beautiful and the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The neighborhood is unique and has lots to offer, including a local garden and healthy grocery store. Dianne left us fresh fruit, chilled water, and local soap in our room when we arrived. We had a wonderful time in Portland and can't wait to go back!
About the Host, Dianne
We are the stereotypical Portland, OR couple. We're arty, sporty and crafty. We've got birds on things and make our own beer (from our own hops) and ketchup (from our own tomatoes). We've got two dogs and some old Schwinn bikes. The only thing missing is the tattoos.
