About this listing
Historic Carriage House was completely renovated so that we could live there in comfort and privacy while updating our main home. High pressure European Hans Grohe Shower is exceptional. Private deck screened by bamboo. 5 STAR Garden & Location
The upper story of our carriage house, The Springfield, is a home we created for ourselves while we renovated the main house on the property. It is sophisticated yet warm and cozy at the same time. You will enjoy your privacy inside or on the deck, and can look out at the beautiful trees which surround the property. It will be your oasis in which to relax from the outside world, yet only a 5 minute walk (on level ground) to the center of Mill Valley. If you feel more adventurous, you can explore the majestic nature of Cascade Canyon or Mt. Tam which begins just down the block.
The apartment is composed of a living room, open kitchen, bedroom, bathroom with glass-tiled European shower which is beautifully lit by a diffused glass window in the shower, and a deck off the bedroom. The bedroom has a queen size bed, feathertop mattress, and the linens are "second to none". It is outfitted with wireless internet and a modern AV system which includes digital cable, flat screen tv, and dvd/cd player. The kitchen has a gas stove and large refrigerator. Parking is always available right in front of the house.
We can direct you to local shops and restaurants in Mill Valley, Sausalito and beyond if you would like to explore. The opportunities for incredible dining experiences in the Bay Area are probably too numerous for your short stay, but you might want to explore some if you have time.
From the moment you arrive at our carriage house you will know that you've found a gem property with comfortable and tasteful furnishings, 5 star amenities, and the prime location in the heart of Mill Valley.
If you prefer a shorter stay (less than 3 night minimum), we can accommodate you with a supplemental cleaning fee.
You will enjoy unlimited access and privacy in the Carriage House and private deck. We also allow guests to use our garden outdoor tables and chairs subject to availability. It is a beautifully maintained garden.
Interaction with guests
We are generally here to assist guests with wifi, laundry or other questions and needs. We also let our guests enjoy their privacy.
Location, location, location. Our guests (see reviews) all rave about this location. Walk anywhere you need to go in town, to the market, to Equator, Peet's, the Depot, the theaters, restaurants, etc. All within 5 - 7 minutes. The award-winning Mill Valley Library is less than 1 minute away and many of our guests who are writers have spent many hours there working. Hiking and biking trails, less than 1 minute from our door. Quiet residential neighborhood with lush nature (redwoods) and sophisticated sunny garden.
Parking is right in front of our property. Public transportation is available within a 5 minute walk, with buses to San Francisco, Marin, etc.
Other things to note
While we have dog and we love all dogs, we do not allow other dogs (pets) on the property. Our yellow labrador is a great dog who is very friendly with children and people of all ages, but he is unpredictable around other dogs. I'm sorry but this rule is non-negotiable.
Our rental is furnished with the same level of quality and detail as our main home. We expect our guests to be respectful and treat it well. No smoking as other people are sensitive to smoke and the odor. No dogs or pets. If something is not working property, just tell us and we'll have it fixed.

We've lived on both coasts (NY and CA) and have been back in the San Francisco area for quite some time now. Mill Valley is a treasure but we love to travel (Europe, Asia and South America) to take in different cultures, meet people, and experience the local food, music, art, architecture and nature. This is a special location from which to explore the trails of Marin County or to drive a short distance to San Francisco, Berkeley or Napa Valley...and if you need suggestions don't hesitate to ask. We are just 100 meters from the Mill Valley Library, Old Mill Park and less than a 5 minute walk to Mill Valley Beer Works (check out the (URL HIDDEN) review), Peets, the Depot and entertainment (142 Throckmorton and The Sweetwater).
