Sattva is one of your 4 bedrooms. It has en suite bathroom with shower. The room has a four poster bed and all the furniture has been handmade by local artisan. The walls are in a light coloured tadelakt which is a particular stucco traditionally used in Marrakech's riads. It has a firm and comfortable mattress,
Air-condition and heating.
Our riad is conveniently located in the area of Bab Doukkala, which is close to the modern quarters of Gueliz and Hivernage and also to the famous Jemaa el Fna square.
A lovely riad in a great part of the medina. The room was beautiful with a gorgeous en suite (though the beds were a little hard for our liking!). We were there in winter so the heating in the room was a huge plus as well as the super cosy blankets. The riad housekeeper Jamila greeted us on our arrival and made us feel very welcome as well as preparing a great breakfast in the morning. There was a slight mixup with our taxi to the airport but that was probably brought about by a bit of a language barrier and our poor french skills!
We particularly enjoyed the location - we had no problem finding the riad by ourselves but the location might be a bit tricky if its your first time in the city. We had stayed closer to the main square in Marrakech before but this brought us to a quieter and very interesting part of the city. Thank you for a lovely stay!
We had a wonderful time staying here. It's in a great location - a bustling little market street - but it's very quiet when you're inside. Our room was pretty and well ordered. The staff there made our stay very comfortable too. The whole experience was an absolute delight. I can't think of many instances when this wouldn't be a great place to stay.
At first arriving in Marrakech can be a little overwhelming, especially at night when we arrived - the hustle and bustle of the markets and mopeds speeding past.
However our host organised a taxi from the airport and we were greeted by the charming housekeeper Jamila who took our suitcases and led us down the winding streets to the riad. Both Jamila and her husband were the most accommodating of hosts and we were greeted by fresh mint tea and little Moroccan pastries. They were full of recommendations for good hamams to visit and were more than happy to make reservations over the phone for us. They also organised private taxis with Ahmed the cab driver for us if we wanted to venture to the quieter areas out of the city. Nothing was too much trouble for them - my girlfriend fell ill during the trip and Jamila brought her grapes and lemon and hot water with a fresh lemon from the terrace which made her feel infinitely better and looked after. The riad itself is beautiful and decorated in a typically stunning Moroccan style and looks just like the photos, and eating breakfast on the terrace was a quintessentially Moroccan experience - with fresh lemon cake (my favourite) and fresh pancakes or omelette made by Jamila. We had a lovely dinner at the riad which was delicious and traditional to celebrate the Eid festival with our Jamila and her husband, which was very welcoming and one of the best meals we had in Morocco. My only slight criticism is that the beds are a little hard and uncomfortable. But the rooms were immaculately clean and Jamila tidied our rooms and gave us fresh towels. Location wise it is tucked down a little quiet alley about a 10/15 minute walk away from the noise and bustle Jemaa al Fna which for us was perfect as it was pleasantly distanced from the smoke and souks.
Overall I really can't recommend this riad enough, it is definitely worth the money, and Ory has found an absolute gem in Jamila.
Dear Dom, thank you so much for taking time to write such a detailed
review. I truly appreciate your praise and take into account
As far as the bed are concerned , the mattresses are
of a very good quality and purposely on the firm side as
for most people - including myself - sleeping in a soft
bed equals to get up with a backache..... I do understand
not everybody likes firm mattresses but I have to
cater for the majority . Sorry about it. Maybe we should
diversify and offer a choice of at least a room with
a soft mattress ... I will give it a thought.
Thank you Ory, Jamila and Mohammed for such a lovely stay! We had three nights in this beautiful Riad and it was the perfect place to come back to from the craziness of Marrakech. Very peaceful, clean and with beautiful furnishings. Everybody at the Riad was so helpful, they booked taxi transfer from the airport, a private driver, let us leave luggage all day after checking out and then welcomed us with mint tea and let us shower even though we had checked out and it was 9pm! They really went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Our room was lovely and the terrace is beautiful. Thank you so much again and we will be back someday!
It was wonderful to arrive to hot mint tea and moroccan cookies served on a lovely and well appointed terrace. The room and bathroom were simple but of incredible quality and craftsmanship. We both appreciated the quality of the toiletries made available for us to use.
The location at the edge of the medina made it convenient to both the maze of the sauks and the restaurants and shopping outside.
We were able to enjoy breakfast prior to our departure.
Ory was welcoming and warm and gave great recommendations for local dinner options. I would recommend a stay with her anytime.
Dear Courtney, I appreciate your review, I am very grateful for the time you spent to let other guests know about your experience . I took great consideration of all the rest of the feedback.
I really enjoyed the short chat we had and I am happy that you will have nice memories of our riad and a good trip in Morocco .
You and your friend are very welcome back at the riad anytime.
