Raja is one of our 4 bedrooms, It has been decorated with cedarwood furniture inlaid with mysore ( a metal similar to silver largely used locally) and has air-condition and heating. It has a very firm and comfortable mattress,
The en suite bathroom, which is all in tadelakt ( a local wall paint which is waxed ,similar to the Venetian stucco) has a shower.
The room is spacious and airy, it has two windows and a little desk.
We stayed in Marrakech for 4 days, and our experience in the Riad was great. In fact, it is very well located in the Medina. Moreover, Jamila was very kind to us and take care of what we wanted.
The room we had was very convenient and the positive point was that the nights were quiet even if we were in the Medina.
Bref, it was a very nice stay and we recommend it !
The riad itself is an oasis of peace and quiet. We had a comfy room and the ground floor and terrace are both lovely. Jamila is the best housekeeper one could ever wish for. Kind, an amazing cook (DO order dinner one night...her cooking and presentation are fabulous), and attentive even with a bit of a language barrier.
The location, while close to the Medina, will take you through the local marketplace. It's a bit of a walk (15 minutes at least) before you get to the more "traditional" Medina. Note as well that while it's very handy to have Ahmed drive you from the airport, he did demand additional dirhams upon arrival so be ready for this.
Dear Aaron, thank you so much for your nice review. However, I would like more information about extra money you are claiming Ahmed asked. I am very disappointed as I am pretty sure this is a misunderstanding ( which I need to clarify) as Ahmed has been working for a long time with us and is one of the most honest guy in Marrakech. He should have charged 100 dirhams for the airport transfer ( 150 if more than 3 people ) how much did he ask you? Are you sure was him? As often he sends other drivers when he is busy. I would greatly appréciâte if you could let me have more detail about this issue . Many thanks and in any case my apologies for the problem you had.
Simply great! The Riad was very clean and comfortable. Top located, also good for day trips because of the central bus station next to the Riad. Even on my birthday they prepared flowers with warmhearted birthday whishes - thank you so much again. We only can recommend this Riad and we would definitely stay there again.
Looking for a last minute place to stay , this Riad was a find. Not having much time to spend in Marrakech meant little time to devote to getting lost in the medina (which I enjoy). As others have said Ory's Riad is located near a gate of the medina and once you arrive it is not difficult it come and go quickly and easily. Ory has a recommendation for a taxi driver who can pick up from the airport , train or bus station. Jamilla meets you promptly at the gate and guides you to the Riad . Again, my stay was short but seamless - everything needed was provided. The room was clean and quiet. The breakfast was generous and delicious.
Great!! We loved the place! We highly recommend this place if you want to stay in Marrakech. Ory is a great host and Jamila deserves all the praise she can get.
Breakfast was great, a good way to start the day.
Thanks Ory & Jamila!! :)
Stayed around 10 days in this lovely Riad, it's cool, light and we had it to ourselves! The interior and design was gorgeous. It is also very safe and we felt very comfortable leaving our belongings in the room with the door unlocked. Jamila was nice and we didn't feel awkward - breakfast could have been a little more varied, as we had baghrir and msemen with honey and jam every day. The location is very central (close to Jardins Majorelle, Djamaa el Fna and a supermarket) but the immediate neighbourhood is quite local i.e. market - I personally would have preferred an area that was less intrusive. After 3 days we were totally accustomed! And how can i forget the roof terrace!! simple but beautiful on a sunny morning or cooler evening:)
Thanks a lot Safia. I am glad you enjoyed staying at the riad. Jamila usually prepare Moroccan crepes and pancakes but also toasted bread with jam and marmalade ( often homemade ) and cakes . We have now introduced also eggs cooked at the guest' choice as we like to improve the service all the time and we take our guests suggestion seriously. Thanks for your review and you will always be welcome at the riad.
