~~~ AREA ~~~
The people around here are so friendly and helpful!!! It doesn't seem like the city yet it is so close to Shinjuku. You have everything you need nearby and the quaintness of all the old school mom and pop stores still survive here!! There is a supermarket a minute away and you could walk to Shinjuku in 30 minutes if you wanted to. Staying around here for a week or so is to experience living in Japan for that same amount of time. I have many friends who love living in this area!! I highly recommend it.
CHEERS AND HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON!!!
The apartment will be all yours so please take good care of it.
Please be quiet and discreet. Very important to respect your neighbors in Japan!
Please turn off the air conditioner/heater when not there.
Please take off your shoes when you enter.
NO SMOKING inside the apartment. Outside on the balcony is fine!
YOU MUST separate the trash*** #1 VITAL thing in Japanese culture!!
Trash is divided into categories and put in different bags.
Please separate your:
burnables, recyclables (cans, plastic bottles, glass), and non-burnable items.
Please put these in separate bags. Using any clear plastic bag is okay in Tokyo!!
Have fun but don't be too loud. If you need something, email or call me.
Most importantly, make yourself at home and be comfortable.
This is a great place to stay if you're after some space in Tokyo (which is rare). Its clean and comfortable. Its just 3 stops / 7 minute from Shinjuku, which is extremely convenient for eating out and exploring the city.
Definitely would recommend this!
Really nice clean place. Very spacious, especially by Tokyo standards. Easily fits 4 people. Located in a nice and quiet neighborhood, which is a nice change of pace from Tokyo's sensory overload. Supermarket is close by and so are many restaurants. Shinjuku station is a short metro ride away, from where you can get to anywhere in Tokyo. I really recommend staying here. Especially if you want to experience a different side of Tokyo.
Will's place in Nakano was a very accessible and pleasant place to stay for me and my 3 friends. It's very conveniently located to the Tokyo metro line with plenty of food options around.
The 4 beds provided were comfortable and we always enjoyed collapsing on them after a day walking through the city.
The only negatives we found was a lack of space in the bathroom to get changed, and no where for us to sit and eat without getting uncomfortably cramped. However with the limited space in Japan this was not an issue and we understood why.
Also, the directions provided were over-complicated and we had some difficulty finding the place, but it was not too hard.
In all it was a pleasant experience, would recommend for a small family or group of friends.
My host , Will S gave us bad directions because he did not make sure about the orientation of the station. Since, nakanoshimbashi station was renovated, the exit instead of facing "east" was facing "north". We were given the instruction to turn right when we exit the train station, but this just led us in the wrong direction because given the station's new orientation, we shouldn't have turned right at all. So we found an empty apartment on a second floor with no electricity and light, but it was the wrong apartment and wrong building. Luckily for us, there was nice young man who led us to the right place. In the meantime, we had to leave our 3 kids out in the cold at 7pm while we looked for the right address. It took us 2 hours out there in the cold to look for the right place. I think the reason that young man was willing to help us was because I could speak a little of the language, female, not intimidating in appearance, and I had my family of three cold children and a husband with me. If he hadn't helped us, we might not have found the apartment at all.
Edith unfortunately got lost due to her own miscues or something. I updated the directions for the new station entrance 4 months ago and I just confirmed on the map that they are spot on. You come out of Nakanoshimbashi station and you make a right, then go straight a few blocks and your there within 2 mins. As you can see in reviews below from Brian and others, my directions are perfect and detailed. It is one of things I take the most pride in. There is also pictures on this listing for you to review before you come to help you get a picture of the walk in your mind. I hate getting lost and I don't want you too. I never knew of Edith's trouble until reading this review. Had she messaged me on airbnb at that time, I would have been able to help her immediately. I am sad to hear about her troubles but not sure what more I could have done. Please know this place is indeed very easy to find. Cheers!
Thank you Will, we enjoyed our stay at your place. The apartment is very near the subway station. However, we have trouble in finding the place during the night because there is no English sign in front of the building as you told us in email and we would be appreciate if you can leave your line contact so that we can contact you via line. We can't call you by phone call cause we don't have SIM card. By the way, we had a great time in Tokyo thanks.
Good point here by Ornpimol. There are not many signs in English here. That is why I have provided you detailed walking directions to get to the apartment. A good reminder to future guests to have those printed out and on hand. They will make getting here so much easier for you after your long journey to Japan. Messaging me on the airbnb website is the best way to contact me if you need anything at all. I work nearly 24-7 :)
The apartment was accessible enough being 3 very near stops away from Shinjuku on the subway, yet Nakano Shimbashi was quiet enough that we could sleep peacefully through the night. The accompanying mobile wi-fi dongle provided by Will made all the difference. The apartment was clean and the basic amenities - such as toilet paper, soap and shampoo were provided for. The self-check-in system was brilliant for our flight came in really late, but we could still access the apartment without having to trouble anyone. Will has been an amazing, thoughtful host. His instructions are succinct and let us directly to the apartment. The host/guest file was a lovely touch as we were clueless about the rubbish separation system, but Will thoughtfully left clear directions and that helped a lot! The location itself, is surrounded by nuggets of surprise, from the tonkatsu place, the sushi bar and a ramen place all serving up stunning dishes.
The location is very convenient, only two station will arrive Shinjuku . The apartment is clean and tidy. Also, the WiFi are so helpful for us to check the train route and timetable.
Nice to meet you. My name is Will. I love hosting on airbnb and it is my life. It is tons of fun and there are new surprises every day! I have met so many interesting people as a host and I look forward to those I will meet in the future.
I am a sports fan, reader, movie goer, and I like to try new things. I play golf, basketball, and just about any sport you can think of. I love ramen, yakiniku, yakitori, and shabu shabu here in Japan. I love to try pizza all over the world when I travel.
Relationships are the most important thing for me in my personal life as well as business. I like to go out and have a good time with my friends and meet new people.
I have learned so much from my over three years as an airbnb host and I am pleased to say I have most questions answered for you before you ask them, whether it be in the description of the listing or in the detail I supply you with at confirmation. Still, I am always thinking of ways to make the guest experience more comfortable, efficient, and hassle free. This is my goal as a host. I will continue to get more places every month so I can host more travelers. I want everyone to see Tokyo at least once!
Tokyo is a great place to come and people from all over the world visit here making it a truly international city. I love Tokyo and seeing the amazing sights and people. It is a great place to explore and every day can be different. This is an awesome destination for walkers and wanders filled with friendly people, tasty restaurants, and plenty of lights. My tip is to make the initial contact with Japanese people because they are typically shy at first. They will be happy to try to practice their English with you.
Hope I can host you soon! May your trip to Tokyo be as amazing as my 7 years here has been!
