We live in Park Slope, Brooklyn. If you don't know the area, the neighborhood is chock full of lovely Brownstones and fabulous restaurants. It's a great home base: the house is a short 20 minute subway ride from Manhattan, and a 5 minute walk to Prospect Park, Barclay's Center, the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
This private, elegant apartment has a painting on every wall, is tastefully furnished with a blend of country antique and contemporary urban decor, and as a top-floor apartment is full of sunshine. This is a lovely place from which to explore New York's best borough.
The amenities include a full kitchen, your own bathroom, a large living room, and a bedroom (full-sized mattress, sleeps 2!). It's literally steps from two major train lines, and trendy, top restaurants in every direction. We do have wireless internet, but no T.V.
As ten-year residents of the city, we're more than qualified and very eager to give all manner of restaurant and activity recommends.
One note: the apartment does have a permanent house guest, our small and very cute parrot. Don't worry about him, he needs no care, and he'll offer you the occasional friendly, "hello!".

Great Room with bath next door, Great location a few blocks from subway and near good eats (including a juicer bar and excellent indian restaurant) and Excellent hosts. Hardwood floors and comfortable bed - I slept well and allergies didn't kick in.
We, my boyfriend and I, had a really fantastic time with Claire and Russell - and their parrot Butch, of course. For 8 days we felt very familiar with them: We used the kitchen and dishes like them (I fell in love with the gas cooker), had a talk in the morning while having coffee, even about politics haha. The two are friendly and thought- and helpful all the time.
The neighbourhood is absolut nice, there are lots of shops, restaurants, supermarkets around. We went to Keyfood just 2min away from the apartment and bought for example everything we needed for breakfast. C&R gave us space in the fridge :-)
The room was perfect, zhe bed big enough and comfortable for 2! And it was absolutely great to have a bathroom on our own - no waitings for each other haha!
Use the chance to visit the Farmers Market at the Grand Army Plaza and enjoy a coffee at Gorilla Coffee just a few Blocks away. Although loving Brooklyn we took a ride nearly every day to Manhattan, its perfect because you can use a couple of trains, several metro stations 24/7!
We highly recommend this place and would be happy to meet them again!
We stayed in Claire's lovely Brooklyn apartment for 5 days mid-November. Can't recommend it enough!
Claire was away for work, but we were very well looked after by Russell, who made us feel welcome in his home & gave us lots of ideas and advice for the area & NY. We hadn't stayed in a host's house before but we loved the experience and will definitely do it again. The room is lovely - bigger than it looks in the photo with plenty of space for bags etc and a big comfy bed that we slept VERY well in! The private bathroom was a definite bonus & the rest of the house has a great feel to it. The location is also fab - a few minutes walk from several metro stations and nearby to some great restaurants and brunch spots. We loved the restaurant list that Claire had prepared - definitely try out the Mexican!!
Great location, host and apartment, it enhanced our stay in NY & was the perfect escape from the madness of Manhattan. You would be stupid not to stay here!
I reserved this room on behalf of Grazyna Plebanek, a Polish writer whose novel Illegal Liaisons I published and who was in NYC for readings. She stayed five nights in early November and reports being most satisfied with both the location--easy to get around Brooklyn and to other parts of the city, including Manhattan--and the friendly hosts! Sorry I can't offer anything more substantive, but Grazyna did want me to at least mention this.
Our stay in this wonderful location was just that, wonderful!! Claire and her husband were just gems in their accommodations, good conversationalists and sharing of their experiences in the greater NYC area. Location,, location, location is key with their place. Plenty of great places to eat and across the street access to the subway. Would definitely stay there again!!
We stayed in our first AirBnB this week and it was great. Our AirBnB hosts, Claire, Russell and Butch (the parrot), were great. The apartment was ideally located in Brooklyn within walking distance of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc. All the major subway lines are very close so access to Manhattan and other areas was easy. Claire and Russell made us feel at home, in their home and although they lead very busy lives (like work and restoring a historic limestone) they always took time to talk with us about our day's activities and answer questions we had. We will return one day to Brooklyn's Park Slope area and without a doubt would choose to stay at Claire and Russell's AirBnB. Besides I want to give Butch another chance to learn my name.
Claire and Russell are great! They are very kind,helpful,open-minded and always good-humored! I stayed with them for a month and highly recommend their place! It is located in a lovely neighborhood with good shopping facilitis and many excellent restaurants, bars and cafes. The transport connection is superb, you are within 30 minutes everywhere in Manhattan, it's great! Highly, highly recommended!!!
Claire and her husband were very friendly hosts who made us feel comfortable. The area was very nice and plenty of great spots for breakfast or dinner. Manhattan is really close in metro, which we used extensively until late evening, without any problem. We highly recommend this place.
