About this listing

Cheery suite with private entrance, consisting of bedroom, attached private screen porch & private full bathroom. Entirely separated from rest of house. Did I mention it's very private? 1.6 mi. from downtown. Fridge, electric kettle, two bikes for guest use, all-organic breakfast (coffee, hot donuts, fruit) included. Access to walking trails along Rivanna River just a few blocks away.

The space

The feel of our house is woodsy cottage. Our house is steps away from access to the Rivanna Trail Network which encircles Charlottesville. It's also a beautiful 30 minute tree-lined walk to Downtown, or a fifteen minute bike ride. Two bicycles are available for use. The room has a queen bed. Most importantly, our family business is organic DONUTS. Complimentary hot coffee and donuts every morning. The house is on a cul-de-sac in a residential neighborhood. Ample parking. The screen porch connects with the bedroom, and has a table, games, a ceiling fan, and comfy chairs. The connected and private full bathroom has a shower but no bath. There is an electric kettle and small refrigerator in the room, ironing board/iron. Towels, sheets, and dishware/utensils provided. Sheets are 100% cotton. Maximum occupancy: 2 persons (Couple with small child is fine)

Guest access

Guests have access to private room with private entrance, bathroom, and screen porch.

Interaction with guests

Hosts will be available, but not in your space or way. Your space is all yours. We love meeting new people, and don't mind the sounds of talking and laughter in the least. No need to tiptoe around! If you need to use something not available in the guest suite (ironing board, cutting board, ouija board or any other household item), just ask -- we'll be sincerely happy to make it available. We're also happy to give recommendations on restaurants, parks, trails, etc.

Other things to note

If you have a group, and want additional accommodations in the same neighborhood, I have two neighbors whom I know well, who have LOVELY airbnb rooms right across the street. I'm happy to share their info.

We own two dogs. They do not have access to the guest quarters or private guest yard. It's possible you will hear them barking although we do our best to keep them quiet when guests are here.

We are an active family with friends coming and going so during the day you may hear us going about our life, but we are generally quiet after 9pm. We are not at all bothered by late night arrivals or talk/laughter in the guest suite.

Jen's place was great! In a lovely quiet little neighborhood. The porch was a lovely place to wind down amid the fireflies - and to start the day with wonderful donuts!

Great location (super close to downtown, but a quiet neighborhood), clean, comfortable and private. Private entrance and you have everything you could ever need in the suite. Jen is also gracious enough to provide breakfast. It really can't get any better than this!

Jen and Matt's place was exactly as advertised and even nicer than the pictures. The suite style of the place gave us a nice private getaway for the night, and the screened in porch was a lovely space to relax in at night. The warm donuts and fresh coffee in the morning were really the cherry on top and I would definitely stay in their place again if I'm in Charlottesville!

The place: This little getaway is just outside of the central line of bars, restaurants, boutiques, etc. located in the central mall. Upon arrival, Jen communicated early on about the delicious doughnuts and coffee, and made sure we were accommodated promptly. The location felt safe, homey, and private. Cleanliness and comfort were of utmost quality; the screened in patio was a nice place to retire for a summer evening. Special note: the shower head is the (URL HIDDEN) The surrounding area: When exploring, we discovered Citizens Burgers, a delicious and new-age approach to a classic meal with a gargantuan beer-tap selection; pricey, but worth it. This along with most of the notable places we found were on the main mall in town. Monticello was worth the money; make sure to see the slave tour, easily the most notable of the 3 tours included in the entrance fee. We recommend Pen Park, if looking for a trail to walk/bike; we biked the nature trail there, and encountered the Rivanna river where we took a cool and refreshing dip. Overall, nice time in Charlottesville, and would definitely return! Thanks again Jen!

We were very comfortable staying here. The bed was firm but forgiving. It was nice and private and we loved and made good use of the porch. Donuts were tasty and Jen is an excellent host. Since we ended up with a bit of a rainy day, I was delighted to find an excellent read on the nightstand called The Library At Night by Alberto Manguel. Would visit again and highly recommend.

Jen's place was so comfortable and cozy. We especially enjoyed eating donuts and coffee on the screened in porch before starting our day! This was one of my favorite stays since using Airbnb!

Place was a seperate entrance with a nice screened-in porch. Quarters are cozy but lots of room if using the porch. Dogs were a little barky. Host had wrong checkout time listed.

I'm a writer, my husband is a professional foodie - running a little organic donut business here in C-ville. We have three kids -- one every six years whether we need one or not. We have more books than shelves, more ideas than time, and more mint then garden. For the moment, we are enjoying living vicariously through other people's wild travel adventures, and look forward to hosting folks from near and far. We love talking history, politics, science, theatre, books and bratwurst; and playing pick-up games of four-square in the street.
