A 10 minute walk to the town center for shops & restaurants. A Craftsman Style home, it is casual & comfortable. Though private, we have neighbors that border our property. Guests best suited to our home would be small families or 2 or 3 couples looking for a very quiet small town getaway or a place to call home for a special event in the area. Please note 2 night minimum preferred. Also please understand that currently due to C-19, reservations may be declined. Thank you for understanding.

The space
During your stay you can expect to enjoy our home as described, and in warmer weather enjoy two decks, facing both south and west, spacious lawn for a game of badminton, a stone patio with a fire pit, gas BBQ grill, screen porch, outside hot tub and an outside shower. While the house does not have central air conditioning, it stays quite comfortable with the use of a large attic fan and the foliage from our many pine and maple trees shading the house. There is a garden level of the house which has its own private entrance to a studio space in the back of the house (under the deck) and in no way interferes with your occupancy of the remainder of the house. Sometimes we stay in that space when we are not able to travel due to the weather or work constraints but feel free to ask if the lower space will be occupied during your stay and we will be able to provide you with that information.

Guest access
Our guests can expect to enjoy our home, decks and gardens during their stay. All the expected amenities are included. There are 3 bedrooms: the master bedroom is air conditioned with a queen size bed and master bath with a jacuzzi tub and is on the main floor, and two bedrooms, both with queen size beds and full bath are located on the second floor. You will also find two comfortable sitting rooms, one with a wood burning stove insert and one with a gas fired stove, a screened porch, an outside hot tub, a dining room with a fireplace and a well appointed kitchen ready for cooking and a coffee pot to get you going in the morning!

Location

Litchfield, Connecticut, United States

Our neighborhood is a great walking neighborhood! The road is not very busy so it is very safe to walk, bike, jog or push a stroller on the loop through town. You will pass many different types of houses on the way into town. On West Street you will encounter wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, antique shops, clothing, gift and kitchen shops. You will also pass the historic courthouse, which is currently undergoing renovations. Making your way back along South Street, you will find the Litchfield Historical Society, post office, Tapping Reeve (the first law school), many beautiful homes built in the Colonial style influence and Oliver Wolcott Library.

We love the Northwest corner of Connecticut, especially Litchfield, for hiking, biking, gardening, relaxing and exploring local farmers markets, vineyards and restaurants.
During your stay
We will meet our guests upon their arrival if we are in town. If we are unable to be here then other arrangements will be made. Someone is always available by phone if something should arise. In the summer months we tend to travel when our house is rented but, if we are on the property, we make ourselves very scarce so our guests can enjoy their visit in privacy.
