The Space

This apartment is located in Pl. Vila de Madrid, the heart of the downtown of Barcelona (in the main shopping district in town, 30 meters to Las Ramblas, 100 to Pl. Catalunya, 150 to La Boqueria, 200 to the Official Cathedral), but yet the most quiet location in Old Gotico, a pedestrian square where you can wake up with the bird singing.

The apartment is perfectly furnished, with two double bedrooms (one with two single beds and the other one with a king size bed) and a living room with a sofa that converts into a double bed. You will find the best expectable comfort (fully equipped kitchen, A/C, WiFi). Truely amazing, with views to the Barcelona´s official cathedral.

From there you can perfectly organise your day, with all the city attractions at walking distance: sightseeing (during the day), shopping or going to the beach (at noon) and nightlife. You just need to get down from the apartment. Just an elevator!

  • We had a great time in this central Barcelona apartment, just off La Rambla. Spacious apartment with comfortable rooms, pretty well appointed kitchen, clean and functional bathroom, washing machine and a place to dry laundry. Perfect for a family of four. The little lift is perfectly suited to the C19th apartment building, and our youngest son enjoyed his role as 'lift doorman' very much, making sure the doors were closed after use (important for the well running of the building). Plaça Vila de Madrid is a lovely square, very quiet for somewhere so central, (email hidden) on the corner, playground for small children and a small open-air museum of roman antiquities. It has a view of the Cathedral and is within walking distance of the sea and Barceloneta (short walk down La Rambla), the Mercat de La Boqueria and incredibly close to the very good metro service at Plaça Catalunya (recommend getting T-10 ticket for ten trips).

Miki was very helpful on arrival, and left lots of information leaflets and discount booklets for us, and an umbrella (necessary as a little showery in May). We would definitely like to come back!

Thanks, I really appreciate your advice Judith, used to be a strainer for pasta, with your message I realize that is not there, so I'll replace immediately the cheese grater is something that had not occurred to me, no one asked and you're right, it's very useful in a house with family. On separate garbage I will post photos from the various recycling bins around to explain it. Thanks again for letting me see these faults, I will follow your advice and if you ever stay in my place I will make sure that nothing is missing.

  • This was really a discovery: a nice apartment in a very quiet setting, but still only 100 m away from the Ramblas and a few minutes walk to the Plaza de Catalunya with its metro and trainstation and airport bus. The view of the Cathedral was nice (you can certainly see the image on the website while relaxing on the comfortable new couch). Miki directed us on arrival to find the Placa de la Madrid, and together with Laura helped us to settle in. The elevator was very handy regarding the top floor position, and its small size did not bother our family of four. The place itself was clean, the shower was fine (need a bit patience for the hot water to arrive from the heater in the kitchen) and the kitchen was well-equipped. The only down-side was the very limited amount of glassware, cooking pans and knives/forcs/spoons, hardly sufficient for four (do people perhaps take these as a souvenir?).
We definitely recommend this oasis in the Barrio Gothic!

  • The apartment was very well located for both tourist sites, transport and nightlife. The apartment was clean and although there was an initial problem with the boiler, Miki came and sorted it out that day. He also gave us a free map and good advice about what to see and where to go whilst we were there. The single beds and the couch are a bit uncomfortable but the main bedroom is great. The 'cathedral view' is a little misleading (you have to stick your head out of the window to see it really, otherwise it's just overlooking walls) but it wasn't a huge concern for us. What was important was the location, the cleanliness and that we got a good night's sleep.

  • My parents, boyfriend, and I had a great stay at this apartment! The location was perfect. It was a two minute walk to the metro, and it was within a 30 minute walk to many of the places we wanted to see. Raymon was the person to welcome us at the apartment, and he was very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again the next time I'm in Barcelona!

I will say that the arrival process was a little confusing. I had been communicating with Escalupi via email prior to arrival, but when I arrived in Barcelona, I was told that either Miki or Raymon would be managing the property. Their contact information was sent to me, and I was responsible for getting in touch with them to find out when I could get into the apartment. I was not expecting that, nor did I know who I was supposed to hear back from. The same thing happened when I was checking out. I sent a message to Escalupi to ask about checking out after noon, and I was told to contact either Miki or Raymon… so I was never really sure who was in charge of this apartment. I was never able to get in touch with anyone, and the cleaning people showed up while we were still in the apartment. They were very friendly and did not rush us to leave the apartment, so we were able to leisurely pack up and leave after noon. However, it would have been much less confusing had it been more clear who was in charge of the check-in / check-out process. All in all, everything worked out just fine.

  • Mikki is really a nice host !
If possible, he will be very flexible for your arrival and departure times, and this is precious .
The location of the appartment is perfect . On the other hand, the single-beds are quite basic ... (the doubble-one is OK).

  • The housing appeared having honored such as in photos. After a preliminary call from the airport us quickly met on a place and gave keys. Very cozy apartment! In the most convenient place of quarter of Gotic. Rambla a stone's throw away, but thus the house in the yard and is very silent! The conditioner can work for heating. Internet good and fast.

Hi! I was born and grew up in Barcelona and, after living in several European countries for a few years, came back to this town. Maybe because I became sure it is the one that fits best for me. I hope to be able to host you and you to discover the city, at least for a few days. These apartments are in what I consider the best locations in town to provide you with the best Barcelona experience. These apartments were picked in the most quiet and peaceful downtown spots, walking distance to the main attractions and happenings in the city. Hope that if this is your choice, it will satisfy you. See you around!
