Cathedral Views Apartment

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Plaça Vila de Madrid, Barcelona, Catalonia 08002, Spain

The Space

This apartment is located in Pl. Vila de Madrid, the heart of the downtown of Barcelona (in the main shopping district in town, 30 meters to Las Ramblas, 100 to Pl. Catalunya, 150 to La Boqueria, 200 to the Official Cathedral), but yet the most quiet location in Old Gotico, a pedestrian square where you can wake up with the bird singing.

The apartment is perfectly furnished, with two double bedrooms (one with two single beds and the other one with a king size bed) and a living room with a sofa that converts into a double bed. You will find the best expectable comfort (fully equipped kitchen, A/C, WiFi). Truely amazing, with views to the Barcelona´s official cathedral.

From there you can perfectly organise your day, with all the city attractions at walking distance: sightseeing (during the day), shopping or going to the beach (at noon) and nightlife. You just need to get down from the apartment. Just an elevator!

  • Mikki is really a nice host !
If possible, he will be very flexible for your arrival and departure times, and this is precious .
The location of the appartment is perfect . On the other hand, the single-beds are quite basic ... (the doubble-one is OK).
Et n'hésitez pas à parler Français : Mikki le maîtrise bien !

  • The housing appeared having honored such as in photos. After a preliminary call from the airport us quickly met on a place and gave keys. Very cozy apartment! In the most convenient place of quarter of Gotic. Rambla a stone's throw away, but thus the house in the yard and is very silent! The conditioner can work for heating. Internet good and fast.

  • Summary: The apartment on Plaza Villa de Madrid was adequate for our stay in Barcelona with our two young children (ages 18 months and 4 months) but if we had to do the trip again would choose a different apartment. This apartment is good for students or adults looking for a quiet, centrally located unit but not ideal for a family with very young children.

Communication was always good but when we arrived after nearly 20 hours of traveling from California we found out that all along we had been corresponding with a property manager - not Escalupi - a fact that left us feeling slightly deceived. We also did not appreciate being asked to sign a document attesting that we were provided language instruction - which we were not – which caused additional red flags to go up. The unit itself is on the 6th floor of the building with an elevator that barely fits two people to each cab (because the elevator is <1m2 inside it has two carriages, one on top of the other). With all of our luggage and the baby stroller it took two trips to get all our stuff up and down when we arrived and checked out. Overall, the unit felt dirty and heavily worn and did not feel as if it had been thoroughly cleaned recently. The bathroom and kitchen looked like they had simply been given a “once over”, the walls were full of dirt and scuffmarks, the main bedroom lighting was poor, there was significant dust buildup under the beds, and the living room couch was very uncomfortable. This is unacceptable considering that we paid a 35 Euro cleaning fee. When I first booked the apartment there was no child crib available. They ultimately provided one but admitted it was only after receiving the same request from several other prospective renters. On the positive side, the kitchen had relatively new appliances in good working order as well as a minimal set of pots, pans, dishes, cups, as well as basics like oil, salt, and even some coffee. Other positives: the apartment is centrally located near the Catalunya metro station and La Rambla, yet is quiet and has a children’s playground in the square just outside the building. After seeing how easy it is to get around Barcelona, if we did the same trip again with our children we would consider someplace more accessible, cleaner, and one which we could deal with the owner directly (as we thought we were) not a property manager.

  • Visited Barcelona for five days over Christmas with two adult sons (18 and 21) and husband. Very good booking and communication with host very accommodating even when having to alter the duration of stay last minute. Met Miki outside the apartment who greeted us and gave us all the info on apartment, and answered any questions we may of well as, was available during the whole stay..and was extremely flexible with times to check out. The apartment had just enough of everything you would need, was very comfortable for all four of us..two twin beds in one room and a double in another. The location is just the have everything at your fingertips...all sight seeing tours can be booked at Las Ramblas less than one minute away, and you have Barri Gotic right outside your door. Plenty of bakeries, grocery stores, shopping, and restaurants all around. Loved Barcelona!! We had more than enough to do and see, and loved the apartment, walked everywhere...even to get to tours. The elevator in the building is worth seeing alone!! Thank you Miki and Esculapi so much for your friendliness and hospitality. Best regards, Johanna and Family

  • We had an enjoyable stay here. The apartment has a great location, walking distance to lots of sights, restaurants and more. The apartment was functional with a few odd historic quirks. The living room couch needs to be replaced but the beds were ok. Kitchen was well equipped with basics for cooking.

Laura and her partner were helpful and responded to questions in a timely manner.

  • Laura was a fantastic host. Even before we arrived, she was very helpful in answering questions about transportation from the airport. Laura told us that she would allow us to checkin at 11 am and she was very punctual.

The building itself is a little old, but there is a small elevator that will take you up to Laura's apartment which is on the top floor. The apartment was very spacious for 4 adults. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. During the day the living room has a lot of natural light, but at night it's a little dim. It could use an extra lamp. One of the best things about the apartment is the location. You are steps away from Las Ramblas and the metro station. The Cathedral is a few minutes walking and there are restaurants everywhere.

Thanks Laura for the pleasant stay!!

Hi! I was born and grew up in Barcelona and, after living in several European countries for a few years, came back to this town. Maybe because I became sure it is the one that fits best for me. I hope to be able to host you and you to discover the city, at least for a few days. These apartments are in what I consider the best locations in town to provide you with the best Barcelona experience. These apartments were picked in the most quiet and peaceful downtown spots, walking distance to the main attractions and happenings in the city. Hope that if this is your choice, it will satisfy you. See you around!
