About This Listing
This is a private studio apartment and not just a room. It has a complete kitchen, full bath, sitting/dining area, A/C, TV, WiFi and a shared swimming pool. There is a queen size bed and we add a single bed when there is a third guest.
Our property sits on a hillside overlooking a lush green valley and the beautiful Pacific ocean below. It is very private and secure with a gated entrance and is still less than a 10 minute walk to town.
If El Rancho isn't available for your specific dates, please view our other 4 apartments that are spread out on the property. Simply click on our photograph and than look on the lower left side of the new page to see them.
This beautiful large 1 room efficiency is located over the open patio below, allowing it to catch refreshing ocean breezes and give you some of the most amazing sunsets ever!! It is very spacious and comfortable with a queen size bed, sofa, chairs and it's own bathroom and kitchenette. You also have your own private balcony, where you can relax and watch the boats move in and out of the harbor. For those rare days when the breezes and ceiling fan aren't enough just kick back and turn on the air conditioning, or go downstairs with your favorite tropical drink and cool off in our refreshing pool, or just doze off in the hammock.
When you do pull yourself away from our wonderful location, it's only a 10 minuet walk to downtown Quepos. There you will find restaurants, gift shops, clothing stores, pharmacy's, live music and more. You will also find taxi's and buses readily available. You can also visit our local farmers market on Friday and Saturday, where you can purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods and more. They set up right along the ocean's edge, only a 5 minute walk from our property .
We have many beautiful beaches in the area, including our world famous Manuel Antonio National Park. There are many other activities here such as, white water rafting, sunset cruises, surfing, horseback riding on the beach, world famous sport fishing and much more. The View was worth the drive. Marta was quick to answer emails and was by her phone to assist with finding the location. We arrived later than we expected and Marta was there to help us get settled in. Doug was a big help navigating the hills--
My daughter and I enjoyed the pool during the light evening rain. We had a good comfortable stay.
Staying at Marta and Douglas’s airbnb was amazing. They are very gracious and helpful hosts and the room was simply awesome. The bar downstairs was really cool and was priced pretty much like the store. Marta helped us get tours for a organic, biodynamic spice farm, which was in a booklet that we were showed upon our arrival. There is a hill and it can feel steep, but its not very far and walking to the middle of town takes five minutes. If the most to complain about is the hill, maybe Costa Rica was the wrong vacation. We had monkeys on our balcony almost every day. The view of the marina and Manuel Antonio was so great to wake up to. Marta and Douglas’s place was a great place to start our adventure. We would stay with them again in a heartbeat.
This was a perfect place for us to stay while visiting Manuel Antonio Park. The apartment is clean and spacious, and Marta just finished updating the bathroom which now has a new modern shower. The view from the balcony truly amazing. We spent most of our down time there. We also really enjoyed swimming in the pool after hiking in MA park for day. The AC worked great and really was necessary in the heat. It's a short 10-15 minute walk to town and yes the hill is steep but that's how you get the killer view! There's lots of restaurants, shops, grocery stores, ATMs, and the bus to MA in town. Town is pretty loud and busy though. Therefore we felt like Marta's place was an amazing find as we had our own little slice of paradise without the expense of staying on the road to the park or the hustle and bustle of downtown. Marta was very responsive with logistics and was waiting with lots of information for us when we arrived. I would absolutely recommend staying here, and would stay again if I return.
What a beautiful place! The view from our room was amazing. Every morning we woke up to the marina and sounds of animals scurrying around. We saw a few monkeys, toads, geckos, and some neighborhood roosters. Marta and Douglas gave us a map of how to get there and were very responsive. We enjoyed the pool and the accessibility to downtown Quepos and the farmer's market. We had a great time!
The check in and check.out were all very seamless. Even the room switch was hassle free. Many thanks
This Airbnb stay could have been better. I've stayed at other places on Airbnb and have had great experiences, however this was an exception. Marta was welcoming and the proximity of the jungle to our front door was incredibly enjoyable. There were a few things that were discomforting about this stay. The TREK to the location is horrendous. It is an uphill mountain climb. We didn't have much in terms of luggage but we were covered in sweat by the time we reached the location. Marta should be honest about that mountain climb to those visiting. You cannot walk up the mountain without getting winded and becoming a sweaty mess. In addition, the directions to the place aren't entirely helpful, nor are they accurate. We only found the location because of helpful neighbors who probably pitied us. The other thing I was unimpressed with was the housekeeping. The room was entered by "staff" only to shut off the air conditioning. Our towels were hung outside to air-dry. If "staff" wants to enter the room to shut off the air conditioning don't pretend to be cleaning the room. Just tell us you will be shutting the air off. Also, it wouldn't hurt to put a few water bottles in the fridge for guests considering the monstrous hike up the hill to arrive at the location. If I was to visit the city again I would probably stay at the Best Western. Marta also states that guests have the ability to make free calls to the U.S., this is only if you want to BORROW her cell phone. How would I find her at 10:00 PM to do such a thing? I don't think she should state she offers this feature if you can't do it from your own room; it's just midleading. The Internet moves at a snail's pace, I couldn't even use it while I was there. I would NOT stay here again.

About the Host, Marta And Douglas
I have a very outgoing personality and love to dance, cook and laugh. I enjoy meeting and helping people. I love to travel throughout my country and other countries as well. My husband Douglas and I have been married for 25 years and have two daughters, Bianca 23 and Sandy 18. Both girls attend the university in San Jose. Both Douglas and I were born and raised in Quepos and we think that with all of the lovely areas in Costa Rica, that the Quepos/Manuel Antonio are is the most beautiful.
I like to dance and cook as well. Although I am not as outgoing as my wife, I do enjoy meeting other people. I have worked for the national electric company "ICE for 27 years as a maintenance supervisor. I like to travel and enjoy seeing other areas of our beautiful country. We slowly built on our property over the years and enjoy sharing it with others. Now with the pool and rancho completed I think we are finally finished.
