About this listing
This is a private studio apartment and not just a room. It has a complete kitchen, full bath, sitting/dining area, A/C, TV, WiFi and a shared swimming pool. There is a queen size bed and we add a single bed when there is a third guest.
Our property sits on a hillside overlooking a lush green valley and the beautiful Pacific ocean below. It is very private and secure with a gated entrance and is still less than a 10 minute walk to town.
If El Rancho isn't available for your specific dates, please view our other 4 apartments that are spread out on the property. Simply click on our photograph and than look on the lower left side of the new page to see them.
This beautiful large 1 room efficiency is located over the open patio below, allowing it to catch refreshing ocean breezes and give you some of the most amazing sunsets ever!! It is very spacious and comfortable with a queen size bed, sofa, chairs and it's own bathroom and kitchenette. You also have your own private balcony, where you can relax and watch the boats move in and out of the harbor. For those rare days when the breezes and ceiling fan aren't enough just kick back and turn on the air conditioning, or go downstairs with your favorite tropical drink and cool off in our refreshing pool, or just doze off in the hammock.
When you do pull yourself away from our wonderful location, it's only a 10 minuet walk to downtown Quepos. There you will find restaurants, gift shops, clothing stores, pharmacy's, live music and more. You will also find taxi's and buses readily available. You can also visit our local farmers market on Friday and Saturday, where you can purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods and more. They set up right along the ocean's edge, only a 5 minute walk from our property .
We have many beautiful beaches in the area, including our world famous Manuel Antonio National Park. There are many other activities here such as, white water rafting, sunset cruises, surfing, horseback riding on the beach, world famous sport fishing and much more. We will be glad to help arrange your tours in sunny Costa Rica!!! We can also arrange transportation to and from San Jose for you.

Our stay at Marta's and Douglas' place was wonderful. The property is located up a hill overlooking the ocean. The pool is small but nice and clean. The sunbeds and hammock invite you to relax.
Our room was really cosy and super clean. The bathroom has a very good and modern shower. Moreover we had a great view from our balcony and could see the sunset and sunrisee while lying in bed. :)
A great thing about the place are the monkeys - we saw so many of them. In the morning we could watch them jumping around on our balcony. And Marta and Douglas attracted them with bananas - so we could get some nice pictures :)
All in all we had a very good time and would stay with Marta and Douglas again!
Our stay at Casa Pargo was amazing! You cannot beat the views from this place! Its about a 10 minute walk to the town of Quepos. The apartment does sit on a steep hill however is worth the view of the marina/ocean. The pool/bar area had the best views as well to watch the sunset. Martha and her husband were very accommodating if we had questions and had some recommendations on what to do. I work in a 5 star hotel and my perfect vacation is NOT staying in a resort. I liked the simplicity of having our own kitchen, we could cook if we wanted and felt like we lived in Quepos. The best part was the monkeys that came early in the morning on our balcony! We will definitely miss this! The apartment is clean and spacious for two people. We hope to come back again soon!
It was our 2nd stop on our journey through Costa Rica and the points which will keep in mind are the pool and the amazing view from our balcony (especially at the sunrise and sunset). It's a good place to stay for visiting the NP Manuel Antonio and if you want to stay a bit outside of the hustle and bustle within the center of Quepos. We liked that a lot.
If you choose to stay at Marta's and Douglas' place you should keep in mind that it's up on the hill. So it's a bit difficult to get there. But as I said the view is worth it.
The room is ok. Could get an refresher. Especially the kitchen. But the balcony is amazing! And the pool as well.
The hosts are really helpfully. Marta organized the tour to NP Manuel Antonio with the tour guide very spontaneous. Thank you so much for this!
The tour to NP Manuel Antonio was really cool. We've seen a lot of animals such as apes, sloths, crabs, butterflies and so on. And an advice for you - visit the park with a guide. You will see much more with him.
All in all we can recommend Marta's and Douglas' spot.
Marta was very gracious and helpful during our stay! The views are just breathtaking. I loved waking up and going out to the balcony and listening to the sounds of nature. We even saw monkeys hopping around the trees. We only traveled by taxi to and from the place. It's a bit of a hike to get up to the place but a small price for the gorgeous views. We also hung out in the pool once on a particularly hot day. We cooked our own food a lot in the kitchen. The AC is cold. Everything was great.
Staying at el rancho with Douglas & Marta was a wonderful experience the were very helpful and wonderful to deal with I would highly recommend them to anybody thinking of visiting quepos
Beautiful view of the marina and habor, we did not want to leave! Marta and Douglas did a great job welcoming us and provided very specific directions to get to the place. We rented a car and drove from San Jose (about 2.5-3 hours drive). Make sure to stop at Tarcoles and see the crocodiles. The hill is a bit steep getting to the place, but as we found out- that's just Costa Rica! The house is about a 10 minute walk to Quepos - there is a short cut to walk down the hill Marta pointed out to us. We drove into Manuel Antonio a few times, which was around a 15 minute drive. Marta and Douglas were not intrusive, yet around if we needed anything. They cleaned the place about halfway through our trip, which was a nice touch. You will hear noises at night - monkeys, birds, occasional roosters, etc. We got used to them pretty quickly, but just be prepared as this area is full of beautiful wildlife. We used one of Marta's tour recommendations and it panned out to be a great day! Would not hesitate to stay at Casa Parga/El Rancho again if the opportunity arises.
El Rancho appartement van Marta was een zeer fijne plek om daar paar dagen te verblijven. Zeer dicht bij het stadje Quepos en tegelijkertijd gelegen ook op een stille en mooie plek. Prima gastvrijheid en service.

About the Host, Marta And Douglas
I have a very outgoing personality and love to dance, cook and laugh. I enjoy meeting and helping people. I love to travel throughout my country and other countries as well. My husband Douglas and I have been married for 25 years and have two daughters, Bianca 23 and Sandy 18. Both girls attend the university in San Jose. Both Douglas and I were born and raised in Quepos and we think that with all of the lovely areas in Costa Rica, that the Quepos/Manuel Antonio are is the most beautiful.
I like to dance and cook as well. Although I am not as outgoing as my wife, I do enjoy meeting other people. I have worked for the national electric company "ICE for 27 years as a maintenance supervisor. I like to travel and enjoy seeing other areas of our beautiful country. We slowly built on our property over the years and enjoy sharing it with others. Now with the pool and rancho completed I think we are finally finished.
