This cozy room has a comfortable queen-sized bed, a private bathroom, and your own entrance. Walkable to Downtown and the River Arts District. Very close to the Biltmore Estate and West Asheville. Easy parking. People of Color & white people welcome; LGBTQ & straight friendly. Dogs too, but not on the bed. (Read our pet policy below!)

The space

Simple, clean and comfy w/ queen-sized bed, private bath, good shower, fridge, microwave, coffee-maker, & wireless internet. Breakfast is on your own, but why eat in your room when Foodtopia awaits you?

We are LGBTQ and straight friendly. People of Color and white people are welcome.

Our home is an urban micro-farm in the making and a land partner in Patchwork Urban Farms. We are an easy walk or bike to the River Arts District (less than 1/2 mile) and Downtown (1/2 mile to Southslope, then another few blocks to Pritchard Park). It's downhill all the way home from downtown :) You can bike to West Asheville (less than 2 miles) or UNCA (about 3 miles). We're also really close to Biltmore Village and the entrance to the Biltmore Estate (less than 2 miles).

Pet friendly for dogs with well-behaved humans (**see notes below re: dogs). We do ask that you be prepared to to take your dog with you when you go out. We also ask for a 10.00 per day pet/cleaning fee.

We love Asheville & love to help others love it too. We're happy to offer guidance and suggestions or to leave you to have your own experience. Check out our guidebook for this listing.

Our place is simple and affordable but with the added bonus of a private bath and private entrance. You will be welcome and comfortable here.

(**A note for visitors with dogs: I love dogs. Absolutely love 'em. I don't provide a crate, and your dog cannot be on the bed. Yes, I will know. If your dog has never stayed in a crate before this won't be a good place to get him or her used to it. Try it at home first. I prefer you not leave your dog here while you're gone. They tend to feel stressed in a strange place, hearing strange noises. When you arrive there will likely be a moment of excitement when your dog meets our dog, Minnie. Expect barking and sniffing. It's a good idea to let your dog have a walk across the street after traveling and the excitement of meeting another dog in a new place. Asheville is a very dog-friendly town. Lot's of places with outdoor seating and a few that allow dogs inside. Thanks!)

Guest access

You'll have your own private entrance. I usually greet guests but if for some reason I can't be at home when you need to check in, I'll leave the keys for you.

There is plenty of well lit parking right out front. Please park on the street. My housemate and I park in the driveway. I've never had cars to be vandalized or harmed when parked on the street, though, you should of course lock it. If you have bikes, we can find space for them inside.

Please observe quiet hours between 10pm and 9am.

Interaction with guests

You'll be pretty self-sufficient and welcome to make your self at home in your space. Text me if you need anything or just knock on the front door.

Both the laundry room and my other guest room are downstairs but those spaces are separate from this space.

Other things to note

Please observe quiet hours between 10pm and 9am. Please note that my bedroom is also downstairs so if your doors are open, I can hear you.

Both the laundry room and Michelle's personal bedroom room are downstairs but those spaces are separate from this space.

I don't provide breakfast but there is coffee, tea, a French press and fridge so you can feel at home. You can walk to breakfast at Biscuit Head in about 5 minutes, Penny Cup Coffee Roaster in about 5 minutes and Ultra Café in 15 minutes. One of my favorite breakfast places downtown is Over Easy on Broadway. Green Sage, also on Broadway, is great too. King Daddy's Chicken & Waffles is amaze-balls in West Asheville (even gluten-free!)

There is a hair-dryer and an iron. I provide Dr. Bronner's soap. Otherwise you should bring your own toiletries.

If you bring your dog please be prepared to take him or her with you when you go out. And please don't let your pet on the bed in consideration of the guests who will come after you.

And, of course, no smoking in the house.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you!
Michelle and Minnie

You must also acknowledge
Potential for noise - We are in an urban setting, so you can expect to hear sirens sometimes. Minnie will bark sometimes, though not at night.
Pet(s) live on property - Minnie is a 12 lb. Maltese-Shit Zu mix. Adorable. Doesn't shed. Most people find her pretty irresistible.
No parking on property - Please park on the street. There's a street light right at the mailbox. I've never had any problems with cars parked on the street though you should
Amenity limitations - There may be an additional charge for use of washer/dryer. I don't include these in the listing to keep guest costs low.

A great private room located in the heart of Asheville. We were in town for a wedding and Michelle's location was perfect. I wish we were in town longer to have used all of her tour guide materials. Very clean and Michelle is a great host!

Clean, convenient, well-appointed room with a private entrance at the side of the house. Michelle is warm, welcoming, helpful and respectful; she recommended some great places to eat and drink, and was always communicative. The only drawback: We didn't realize that our room would be right next to hers. Just the arrangement made us feel like we had to keep our voices down at night, which was ok since we were dead tired but may not have been ideal had we come back after a night out.

It's just like a friend's basement that you are staying in. It is literally a few minutes away from the River Arts District main drag. It's super convenient to downtown. The house is under construction right now and looks that way. If you are here for a few nights and just come here to sleep, it's perfect. There is plenty of parking on the streets. Also, the host is super responsive via text!

I enjoy a a large and wonderful community here in Western NC. I live with my super-cute dog, Minnie and a flock of ducks.

I have two businesses. I have a Celebrant practice and a Consulting practice. A Celebrant is a ceremony specialist. I'm also an ordained Inter-faith Minister. ( So if you want to get married while you're here, I can help you out with that too! Find out more about that and the other types of ceremonies I help people create by googling Asheville Celebrant. My other business is Circle Forward Partners, where I coach, train and facilitate groups in collaborative governance.

I am passionate about urban sustainability and I'm a land-owner partner in Patchwork Urban Farms.

I love to hike and swim. I enjoy, sewing, yoga and spending time with my friends and neighbors.

I love my town so I'm happy to give you tips and directions or just leave you to your own devices. Look forward to meeting you in person!

Happy Day!
