About This Listing
Tiny cabin hidden under the canopy of a great oak. Cabin built to resemble a yacht with an upper and lower level. It has a full kitchen and full bath. Yes, cable, wifi, and all that you need for a fun and unusual stay between the beaches of the Atlantic ocean and historic downtown savannah Georgia. My guest love it's intimacy and return often for special escapes.
please leave it clean for the housekeeper to do their job. make us delighted to have you as our guest. no smoking.
Bev's cabin is a real treat. Fast wifi, comfy futon bed downstairs, functional kitchen and a little BBQ outside. Even laundry in the back building. The neighborhood is quiet and good for going on walks, and there's a tennis court close by, but otherwise there's not many sights/attractions but we thought that was a good thing. It takes about 20 minutes to get into downtown Savannah or to the beach at Tybee. There's also a Publix and drug stores about three miles away. Make sure to wear bug spray on the back deck in the evenings. The ceiling fans were usually enough to keep the place cool except on the hottest of days, and then the A/C worked well. Bev was very responsive and friendly and we really enjoyed our time in Savannah. Thanks, Bev!
Bev's cabin is delightful - and we found it perfectly described. I will add that staying on Wilmington Island was an unexpected plus. We spent much of our 3 days exploring Savannah (one of my favorite cities) and thoroughly enjoyed coming back to this small retreat for r&r. We took time to explore Wilmington Island and it was an added bonus as was the location - mid-way between Savannah and Tybee. I think that the cabin works best for a couple or folks with a younger crew - we found that the upstairs bed was a bit difficult for a 60+ year old person to easily use and the futon wasn't working so the 'nook' bed was the only option. But we managed the sleeping issue and enjoyed our stay. Note - a few other reviews noted some issues for folks over 6 feet - we noted that as well. When we needed some help from Bev on a few things, even though she was out of town at the time, her response was timely and the issues were quickly handled. We absolutely recommend this lovely spot and would stay again.
Bev was a very accommodating and attentive host. The cabin was as described and shown, although visitors should know the ceilings are lower than standard size, so taller folks might have a hard time negotiating the ceiling fan and bathroom door. There was a nice patio/deck off the rear of the cabin, with lounge chairs and tables that made for a nice sitting area since the weather was just too perfect to spend much time indoors. The place was conveniently located halfway between Savannah and Tybee. It was a comfortable, laid-back, established neighborhood, and a beautiful area. Bev seemed to think of everything, so even though the space is small, it didn't feel cramped and all the appliances are to scale and the necessities and conveniences were handy. We'd definitely stay there again! Thanks, Bev!
Cottage is in a great location in a lovely quiet neighborhood with easy access to Savannah as well as the beach. Small but nicely furnished and clever use of space.
Unfortunately i mentioned Susan as an unpleasant experience in hosting. We have since been in communication to clear up the misunderstanding. As a host, i recommend making a quick phone call to clear up property issues, i.e. wifi, and poorly functioning blinds so that the host can rectify the problem immediately. Susan is very much welcome to return to my property any time. Phone, not text is invaluable to host and guest. It is a real way of expression and eliminates problems down the road. I should have picked up the phone before i wrote the review.
We arrived later than expected but Bev had communicated ealier about how to get in. The location and accomodations were exactly as described. Nice quiet location. All amenities worked fine. A great location to get away.
Cute little cabin. Quiet location. Close to Savannah. We were in town for the Rock & Roll marathon where hotel prices are crazy expensive so this was a great deal. Only drawback was my husband is 6'2" and it is a small place (low doorframe to the bathroom, low ceiling fan, short shower). Contact with Bev was always quick and we will definitely consider staying in her larger space next time.
The place is exactly as pictured. It was very clean and inviting. Comfortable and would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful quiet retreat. Its still close enough to Savannah if you want to explore the city.
If you are over 6 feet you may have to watch your head coming out of the bathroom and with the one ceiling fan.

About the Host, Bev
Career of 30 years as a product designer. I started collecting resort property in 2000 using my eye for design with a story to tell. I starting hosting before that in the 70's with a Victorian resort hotel in the ozark mountins. So I guess you could say I've been serving up rooms with a view over half my life. I believe in the traveler and respect their needs for the comforts of home, cleanliness, and adventurous delight. I find pleasure in presenting my guest with good art, unexpected visuals, more amenities than home, sprinkled with a few hidden treasures that spark one's imagination or take you to a special place in your mind's eye.
