The room was as described, and an excellent little nook above Chinatown. I loved the location! Being able to go downstairs for delicious food and drinks in the morning was excellent. Also very conveniently located to the subway.
Terrible! The room was basic as described and clean which was fine, and location is good however unless you like sleeping with springs in your ribcage then take the same cash you'd spend here and find a cheap hostel. Seriously. I am used to travelling on a budget and staying in basic places but the bed here was so so atrociously uncomfortable that the floor would have been better (only there was no room to lie straight on the floor.) i had to get towels from the entrance room and lay them out carefully on the mattress to relieve the pain at 5am after hours of failed attempts to sleep. If you want to make cash from airbnb'ing the flat at least invest in the basics!
Hi Fairooz, I'm so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience! This is the first time I have heard that the bed is uncomfortable - as I don't sleep in it I wouldn't know unless someone tells me. I will take action immediately to replace the mattress. Next time when you stay with airbnb, do feel free to express your concerns directly to the host so they can help assist you or even offer a refund for your troubles.
My stay at the Yellow Room - Chinatown was excellent. The location is great and the apartment is super easy to find. All the amenities listed were made available and the room was cozy. If you're only in Singapore for a short visit and plan to spend most of the day out exploring, then this is a great room to come home to sleep and relax in. I really appreciated the host's detailed welcome packet and quick responses. I'd definitely recommend this Airbnb to a friend.
I stayed 2 nights at this small room located near Chinatown MRT(5 mins walk). The location is central and convenient. It is ideal for a short visit.
I didn't get to meet Sarah in person but her detail directions make it easy to locate her place.
First, Sarah provided an incredibly helpful word document with extensive directions. It made finding the apartment and checking in a breeze; plus she provided tons of commendations for food and sightseeing. The apartment itself is in a fantastic location, and perfect as a base of operations for exploration (or late night food runs). On varying days, I caught a bus out in front, descended to the metro steps away, and walked to a nearby attraction.
The room is small but certainly sufficient; the shared space offers room for relaxation if necessary. Given the Singaporean weather though, the most important feature outside the room might be the shower, and that worked with no problems. I saw other guests just once in the five days I was there, though the occasional flushing of the bathrooms and door noises suggests they were around. It was overall quiet.
Finally, Sarah was quick to respond in the affirmative when I asked a last minute question. So, all around solid experience. And the free wi-fi worked perfectly to boot, which is great if you find out your phone can't deal with prepaid SIM cards like I had planned on buying at the airport.
I wanted to mentioned three things about Sarah's place.
First, If you are really really tight of money, I recommend this room.
It's cheap. but you can't expect other things.
there's no toilet paper, sometimes you might experience air conditioner controller doesn't work.
and you have to know when you use elevator in this apartment. It can go up each 5th floor. ( that means Sarah's house is on 8th floor, You have to move with your stuff walking up or down two stairs.)
Second, If you expect to meet Sarah in person, don't do that.
In my experience, I haven't met her. I have used Airbnb several times. but it is first time not to meet host.
Last, Actually I stayed this room for 3days even though I booked 6days. because I felt uncomfortable. I am little picky about cleanness.
The room didn't seem to clean to me. So I changed my lodge.
But there's good things. It is near from MRT, Clakey, foodcourt. Don't get me wrong. I wanted to express my feelings about this house.
Description was accurate. Very basic accommodations. If you're low maintenance and need a place to sleep, this will be fine. Excellent location. Sarah provided a great list of recommendation and instructions prior to my arrival and responded in a timely manner.

Greetings from Singapore! I am an American who has been living in Singapore for over a year. I have travelled and lived extensively throughout Europe & SE Asia and love to hear others stories and dream on my next adventure as well! We have been very fortunate to find an apartment in the center of where everything goes on and are lucky to have space to share in a country quite tiny!
I love travel and love staying at places that feel like home. I am a very easy going host and willing to work with you in anyway that I can to make your travel/stay at my places easier. I love outdoors & nature, scuba diving, as well as the city life with checking out new restaurants and cocktail bars.
