My husband and I have never stayed in Waikiki before but really enjoyed how close the location was to shops and bus transportation. The property itself was a great deal with the amenities that were offered (Pool, hot tub, laundry room, convenience store) but there were a few things worth noting that could really catch someone off-guard.
The suite is located right next to the garbage chute which, as you can expect in warm weather can really stink. I would suggest bringing a can of Lysol to spray the area.
Having a full kitchen is great but the pots and pans are rusted, so don't expect to throw down often in the cooking department.
The furniture was worn, especially the papasans on the lanai-- huge holes with stuffing falling out.
An A/C should really be installed in the living room as it gets extremely hot when you aren't on the lanai or in the bedroom.
The A/C in the bedroom also leaks and has 3 catch buckets on the lanai that need to be emptied periodically to prevent overflowing.
The bathtub needs some caulking around the tub and maybe a deep cleaning of the couch but overall we had a pretty good experience.
Despite these issues we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider booking again if these issues are addressed. Again, its a good bargain especially with the building amenities.
With a little love and TLC this could be a 5 star winner.
This place has a really nice view and is in a good location for walking to Waikiki beach and the surrounding area. It's a nice sized apartment with plenty of kitchen space to cook any meals you'd like to have while there. We really enjoyed cooking breakfast each morning and eating on the patio. The price was considerably less than other hotels during our trip. Once we got past the bad this place wasn't terrible.
Owner doesn't drop off the keys until two o'clock on the day of your arrival so if you're coming in early you'll have to wait. In our case the keys were even later as they were very disorganized and there was a problem finding them so we had to wait about two hours+ in the lobby with our bags after our long flight to get the keys.
We wished this was the only problem. After arriving at the condo we walked in to find out the place was a complete disaster and hadn't been cleaned. We had to leave the condo again for about four hours while the cleaning lady fixed the place up. It still wasn't done right (bathroom was barely touched) and we had to clean much of the place ourselves which is not exactly what you want to be doing on the first night of your honeymoon in Hawaii.
There's no central air, just an ac unit in the room which is very loud and leaks on the patio, you had to leave it on all night or the house would be extremely hot.
The place generally needs a lot of attention, the walls are banged up, the bathroom is pretty gross, the floors need attention and the outside patio chairs (although comfortable) were all ripped up. Pretty much all the furniture and ac unit could stand to be replaced.
The management company was semi helpful but could have done much better or offered monetary compensation for the inconvenience which they did not.
Overall, this place was a reasonable price but not that much less than a normal hotel. The picture's are pretty deceiving. So, if you're staying in Waikiki, I'd say pay slightly more, maybe get a smaller place but have it be top notch. Thats what we'll be doing next time for sure.
This listing turned out to be a big disappointment. Though the location was outstanding and the facility itself had a great pool and lots of perks such as the convenience store and café, it was the condo itself that we found very lacking. Doors stuck, carpets were pretty nasty especially in the bedroom, we had loads of trouble closing the lanai doors as well as the window in the living room. The couch needs a serious cleaning, the bathroom fan didn't work, nor did the one above the dinette table which wobbled badly. The furniture on the lanai was all ripped. I think the biggest disappointment was the kitchen. It had no amenities--no salt and pepper, no coffee filters, the pots and pans were all scratched and unusable and it had hardly any dishes and glasses. We had to communicate with the lady who works for the property management company that looks after the place about a late check-out, and she asked how she could make our stay more comfortable so I told her about these concerns. She was very wonderful in that she actually went out and bought needed bathroom and kitchen towels and bowls and glasses and dropped them off personally within 12 hours of our e-mail. That was very impressive and greatly appreciated! But I'll never stay here again.
location was perfect， just 3-4 blocks to the beach，always can found a parking spot in the garage but parking fee was 25/day， kind of expensive. The a/c not working good, made tons of noise. The most important thing is room not clean like I expect, this was my first airbnb experience.
The location was great, just a few blocks from the beach. The communication regarding our arrival was confusing and inconvenient. The home itself was fine but did have the bare minimum that one might need while traveling. No back up toilet paper or blankets. A second key would have also been useful.
- smell from nearby garbage shute (only a few feet away from condo) is unbearable
- place was a mess (dirty/sticky floors, dirty matted area rug, unknown stains on couch, non-operational dishwasher, ripped cushions on chair etc..)
- loud A/C - you'll either be sweating all night because you have to turn the A/C off to get to sleep or be cool but await all night from the noise
- Margaret (the person representing the host) was very nice and tried to fix some of the issues described above but in the end we had to check out early because my wife got sick from the smell from the trash. Airbnb was able to assist with refund but lost a few days dealing with the above issues and finding alternate accommodations.
