Our stay with IIkay was good. The apartment was comfortable and relaxing. The position is excellent as handy to Taksim Square and transport options across to the Sultanhamet area. It was good to return at the end of a busy day as quiet. Good food store nearby and close to a range of restaurants. Facilities good, especially washing machine and dryer. Had some great chats and info from IIkay.
Our visit in Istanbul in April was perfect! It was a very warm welcome and a nice flat. Perfect to start day trips and to go out in the evenings because it is located very near to the Taksim Place.
Serhat & Ilkay were very good hosts and were very welcoming and nice. The room is spacious and for a 3 day trip to Istanbul, it was perfect as the location meant that everything was in walking distance, including Istiklal Avenue.
Great hospitality from a caring and thoughtful host. The location was excellent, though I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have limited mobility (I had a foot injury at the time). No fault of the host of course! The bedroom was lovely and the bed very comfortable. Thanks for the extra pillows!
Ilkay was a really kind and helpful host. He was waiting for us when we arrived, and shared some great insider tips on places to eat and how to get around Istanbul. The location of the apartment is fantastic--close to Taksim and Galata, from where you can get anywhere else. The room itself is small, but clean and comfortable--and the same goes for the rest of the cozy, bohemian flat. One small issue however--though not the fault of anyone--is the thin walls and the resulting noise. The opening and closing of doors and any kind of talking or noise either from within or outside of the apartment can be heard very clearly from the room, so if you're a light sleeper or sensitive to noise, this is worth being aware of. Other than that, I agree with the many fantastic reviews for this place.
He is totally right about the doors. I've tried to fix them in many ways but that old stubborn doors are still causing some noise. I've kindly asked one of my friends who is very well experienced in restoration and renovation since the apartment is very old. Hopefully he is going to come and fix it when he comes back to city in a week or two. In addition, I rarely watch TV but that night while I was watching TV with a close friend visited me, I guess I turned the volume up by mistake and caused some noise. Next time you won't even notice if I'm home or not :) Take care!
Our stay was really confortable. The place is really good located as you can find Istliklal in less than 5 minutes walking and the tube around 10.
The owner help us as much as we needed and we really felt the house as our home.
Definitely a really good option to spent your time in Istanbul.
Staying with Ilkay and Serhat felt like sharing a flat with flatmates; easy, open, straightforward. For me, this was perfect! Thanks to both of you!
We stayed at Serhat and Ilkays place for two nights. We only met Ilkay - he was the perfect host. He made great turkish coffee for us and we spent out first evening (after returning from sightseeing) with him talking and ended up staying up too long because it was so much fun. The room looks in the pictures like in reality, the neighbourhood was very quiet, a supermarket close by and the main shopping area fast (5 minutes) to reach. The whole appartment was very nice and clean and the living room very comfy. I highly recommend this place! When we come back to Istanbul we will definitely stay there again! Thanks for the great hospitality, Ilkay! :)
This is to to expres our gratitude for the warm welcome we experienced at the place of Serhat and Ilkay.
The hospitality with which they opened all doors of their house at such a good location was great.
We enjoyed their enthousiasm for life and the good talks we had about it. The mutual interest in those talks contributed to a wonderful trip to Istanbul, as well as the practical tips and addresses they mentioned.
Thank you guys, Tinie and Jack
My short stay at Serhat & Illkay's place was just perfect: the location is very convenient to discover the city, really near the main pedestrian avenue, their flat is very clean and most of all, they were both very nice and helping, they try to make our stay as enjoyable as possible and make you feel like at home!
I would definiitely recommend it and come back again :-) !!!
