Who'd like to experience to stay in a hundred years old apartment which is a beautiful legacy of Greek-Roman architecture? The apartment is located in the center of Istanbul; very close to the historical peninsula (Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace and etc.) and it's just 5 minutes walk to the heart of the nightlife in istanbul: Istiklal Avenue... (which is the most popular and live pedestrian street of the city).
*The room has a very comfortable double-bed, a wardrobe, and an antique armchair. Although the flat is right in the middle of the city, the street that the apartment located is very quiet and peaceful.
*Hygenic toilet covers, clean towels, clean snow-white sheets are provided.
*Full equipment kitchen. (stove, kettle, dishwasher, toaster, juicer, etc.)
*It's 7 minutes-walk to the metro station and the second-oldest subterranean urban rail line in the world after the London Underground. Just 3 minute-walk to the bus station. An "Istanbul Card" which you can use for your public transportation is provided.
*Guide books like "Istanbul Eats - Explore Culinary Backstreets of Istanbul" and "Time Out Istanbul Guidebook" is provided. Free city maps, rail line maps, and shopping maps are also provided.
*All the famous night clubs, bars, cafés, restaurants; and most of the historical places are walk distance away. You'll enjoy Istanbul nights and days and come home safely.
Flat in Beyoglu area, close to métro station, good point tu discover the old city. Little but comfortable room. Good sense of hospitality despite the fact that our schedule didn't match very often.
Ilkay is one of these host you can only warmly recommand! He made our trip very confortable, the room he's renting is exactely like on the picture, confortable bed, the flat is big, cute and well arranged. The location was very convenient to us, nicely calm but in the other hand close to a very dynamic area. And if its your first time in Istanbul you will be happy to live close to Itsikal Street, full of life all days and nights long!
We stayed at IIkay for five days and really enjoyed meeting IIkay. He is a very friendly, welcoming, very chilled out and cool host. The flat is cosy and nicely decorated, we felt very comfortable in it. It is very close to the trendy part of Istanbul (the main pedestrian street) and 15 minutes walk from the tram which takes you to the other side of the Bosphorus (Old city). At first we were a bit concerned about safety around IIkay's flat at night because of the small narrow and dark streets but I think that it is more a perception issue than a real safety issue. You certainly get a feeling of what local life is like in this part of town! So overall a very good experience. Teşekkür ederim IIkay!
Illkay is a very nice and cute boy. His apartment is very clean and good location. It's also easy to go anywhere you want. If you want to go to Istanbul I'll suggest you to stay here. It' very nice to meet our host . I hope I could come again one day :D
Our experience staying at Illkays appartment was great. Illkay was an good host, he helped us to find good restaurants and gave us good tipps for sightseeing.
The room is small but for a City-Trip it's enough. The location of the appartement ist great, it takes only 5 Minutes to get to the city. Also a lot of restaurants and bars are near to the appartment.
Our experience staying here completely lived up to the great reviews we read. Illkay was an accommodating host who was happy to answer all our questions about the apartment and Istanbul and help us better explore the city. The room is small but very comfortable--the bed is great and there is a wardrobe to organize your clothes.
The best thing about the apartment is definitely its location. We were able to get to the old part of the city near the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque easily, either via public transit or with a charming walk, and it is close to tons of great bars, restaurants, and shops. Definitely close enough to the things you'd want to see as a tourist but gives you a great sense of the city's flavor as well!
Ilkay's accommodation was OK, the room was small but clean. We didn't really use the rest of the apartment as didn't feel comfortable doing so as felt it was Ilkays personal space. Position was OK but we had trouble finding it which could have been our fault not his. Bathroom had a lot of mould in shower which needed a good scrub in my opinion.
While we didn't meet Serhat and Ilkay during our stay they arranged for a friend to meet us at their property. Our 5 day stay was fantastic with the property being exactly as described/photographed and in a great location for exploring Istanbul.
Directions to the property were good, unfortunately we were not the best at following them.
We stayed at Ilkay's for a few days for our first time in Istanbul. The room was as pictured in the photos, and is very close to Istiklal and all the bustling area of Beyoglu. It is very practical to get around in Istanbul. Ilkay was always available at any time to answer our questions but also to give us advice about things to visit, restaurants to try or transportation in the city - always excellent advice.
As previously mentioned, just be aware of the fact that all the walls are extremely thin - so if you are not a deep sleepers, just think of bringing earplugs !
