3 Casitas on the River banks with Queen sized bed, kitchenette & luxury bathroom. Sit on your porch and listen to the relaxing sound of the river tinkling by, and watch the hummingbirds flying by the heliconia in your beautiful jungle retreat
"Casitas Del Rio" (little houses on the river)
We offer 3 individual studio-style casitas, on the river near the Pacific ocean. We are located near Playa Uvita, a small coastal beach town. Each casita sleeps 2 people, so if there are 2, 4, or 6 people in your party, you can rent 1, 2, or all 3 casitas.
Each casita has a queen bed, dining table for 2, bathroom, and a small kitchenette complete with dishes and utensils, a 2 burner stove-top, mini-fridge, microwave oven, toaster, coffeemaker, juicer and sink.
Hidden in a private cove on the Morete River, surrounded by forests and nestled between tall mountains and the sea, our casitas offer tranquil river views and sounds of Mother Nature right from your porch. Bring your camera and binoculars -- flora and fauna abounds and surrounds. Each casita has all the comforts of home - a kitchenette, a quality queen bed and linens, a/c, hot water, and wi-fi.
Outside, surrounded by 2 acres of tropical gardens, each casita has a covered porch with a magical view of the river and forest. Listen to the sounds of the jungle, watch the toucans fly from tree to tree, dip your toes in the cool clean river right in front of your porch, or hike up-river to discover the natural swimming holes and a hidden waterfall.
We are conveniently located only 1 kilometer off the main paved Costanera highway. Our location offers quick and easy access to beaches, grocery stores, restaurants, banks, and adventures. From your casita it is a 5 minute drive to the small town of Uvita and the lovely beaches of Playa Ballena, Playa Colonia, and Playa Hermosa. Dominical, the infamous surf town with its funky bohemian-beach-bar-surfer-dude vibe, is only a 10 minute drive north.
Come and rest, relax, escape and enjoy a perfect little get-away. Do as much or as little as you like
IMPORTANT NOTE about our RATES: The nightly rate is $95 per night, 1 casita, sleeping 2 people. If you want 2 or all 3 units, multiply the rate accordingly.

Beautiful scenery, the place is very clean and stylish! Welcoming hosts.
Rachel & Steve provided us with excellent driving directions to their casitas. On arrival they were incredibly warm and welcoming hosts. The casitas are impeccable and very modern. The location is excellent and safe and the property is located along a river in which you can go exploring in. We were very impressed with our first AirBnB experience.
This was my first time using airbnb and scored a home run with Steve and Rachel. They are wonderful hosts. The cabins were clean and well equiped for travelers. The location was very private, quiet and with beautiful gardens and a stream for meditation. It was a great place to relax and unwind. I highly recommend staying here but stay at least 2 or more nights to fully appreciate the wonderful setting and the noises from the jungle at night.
Upon arrival my girlfriend and I had a couple cold beers served up while the cleaners finished as we showed up quite early .. was very nice they let us come early to just hang out .. the property is beautiful right next to a river which you can walk up to waterfalls which are private and really fun :)
Hosts are very accommodating and this was the best place we stayed in Costa Rica .. highly recommend to anybody it's a gem
The perfect spot and the perfect host. Rachel went out of her way several times to make sure my last minute trip for a friend's birthday went off without a hitch. The place is awesome and the surroundings beautiful. You have everything you need for a quite retreat or an adventure. I chose a little of both with sliding down a waterfall and jumping off a cliff...and one day I did nothing but enjoy the rainforest noises in the background of my Casita. I didn't rent a car but she arranged reliable transport when I needed it and I was grateful. Rachel even looked up places for my friends and I to eat being as though it was Valentines day and I didn't want to go too far without reservations. You have privacy and that's great! I would definitely recommend the Casita del rio and I will be back because I met lots of kind locales.
Steve and Rachel's riverside casitas are gorgeous! They were great hosts and greeted us with beer and snacks after our drive. The casitas are large and airy, and I was impressed by the modern finishings and how clean everything felt. The river and surroundings are truly stunning and we enjoyed walking up the river to the waterfall in the morning. It's a short drive to the beach, surfing, and lots of great restaurants. Thanks guys!
Rachel and Steve’s riverfront retreat is a little piece of paradise. We stayed there for three nights and found it to be peaceful and extremely beautiful. Rachel and Steve are gracious hosts who made us feel at home and then left us in peace to enjoy “our” place, but they were always ready to provide information and recommendations. They even left an extra pair of binoculars on the deck one morning for watching the hummingbirds and the monkeys in the trees across the river.
Hello we are Rachel and Steve, your hosts and very proud owners of Casitas Del Rio.
Having both recently retired from the British Army (Rachel as an Education and Training Officer and Steve as a Sports and Recreational Manager), we were searching for our next big adventure. We both love meeting new people, hearing their interesting stories and having new experiences.
In our personal life and careers we travelled to many places around the world and dreamed of finding the perfect place to settle down and combine our interest in people and nature and own a boutique guest house. Leaving the British Army after 26 years, Steve joined the Australian Army and served 3 years. On leaving Australia, in preparation for our next move, he re-trained as a professional butler at The International Butler Academy in the Netherlands. He was then employed at the world renowned Savoy hotel in London as a personal Butler to the rich and famous dealing with Royalty and Hollywood stars from around the world. His professional service as a Butler instilled the high standards expected for ensuring guests receive the service they expect.
When looking for the idyllic location to visit or settle in, everything we read about Costa Rica said we should come and explore this amazing eco-friendly country, so we did. After doing a bit of backpacking around and meeting the wonderfully friendly local people, we decided the beautiful Costa Ballena was the most exhilarating, charming, relaxing place we had ever come across.
We enlisted the help of the United Kingdom TV show called ‘A Place in the Sun’ (known as house-hunters International in warmer climates) to find us the place we had dreamed of. The research team combed the area and found the perfect place for us in Casitas Del Rio, just outside Uvita. We bought the place with the 3 gorgeous casitas in a heart-beat. from a wonderful couple who are now close friends and love the area so much they decided they want to stay and be our neighbours!
We fell in love with Casitas del Rio, the ‘little houses on the River’ the moment we saw them, and we are sure you will too. It is the perfect get away from it all; peace, quiet and tranquillity combined with the soothing sound of the river.
