Quiet getaway bungalow with seaview

Villa - Entire home/apt · Calle Bougainville, Tuineje, Canarias 35629, Spain

The Space

This holiday is for people who enjoy peace and quiet while having access to an uncrowded beach only 3 minutes walk away.

The volcanic island has mild weather all year round and dramatic scenery.

Giniginamar is one of the least touristy villages and the foreigners that are here are largely expats.

The house is located high up the hillside having its own garden and spacious terrace area with barbeque.

Having only one bedroom (with on-suite) it is ideal for couples. There is a bed sofa in the lounge so four could be accomodated short term.

There is a good restaurant in the village - Don Carlos and up to 2 other options for eating depending on the season but currently there are no shops at all. Luckily Gran Tarajal, the provincial town just a short drive away can cater for most needs, even here there are not many tourists.

For the energetic you can walk to Gran Tarajal over the cliffs with the reward of a fresh fish lunch.

The island is great for golf and watersports, especially windsurfing and hiking.

A car here though is pretty essential if you want to do any exploring, car hire is reasonably priced. Easy parking outside the house.

Internet dongle / modem supplied free against 30 € deposit. Works on a prepaid system adn can be credited from 10€.

  • The location of the house is of rare beauty. We would totally recommend staying here. Bettina was really nice to us and gave us all the tips we needed. We managed to catch an amazing sunset from the restaurant on the beach (5 min away, very casual, delicious, and reasonably priced) and a surprise sunrise over the mountain from the terrace. True, the beds could be a little more comfortable, and if you have allergies(as one of us does) you might want to bring along an antihistamine... Hope to come back very soon!

  • The cottage is charming, very comfortable, perfectly located, has all necessary amenities at its disposal. There is a huge and beautiful terrace which we enjoyed every sigle day. Morning coffe with amazing view over the small bay of Giniginamar was truly realxing experience.
The cottage is definitely for someone who wants a quiet gateway far away from mass tourism and artificial resort towns. Exactly what we were looking for with my partner.
In case you have any problems Bettina and Elmar are available to help you. They leave just 200 metres away.
If I had to picky I would point in the direction of the bed - the mattresses were a bit sagging which did not make for super comfortable sleeping and there were two sigle beds which we as a couple did not exactly like (but I am sure many will actually). But these were just minor points and did not really influence our superb stay.

Thanks Adnieszka - we will be reviewing the beds as you suggest!

  • We had a lovely week in this sweet villa in very rural Fuerteventura. This is definitely a good place if you want to unwind, but be aware you do need a car (approx 20 minute drive) if you want to go to shops or restaurant. Gorgeous BBQ area and everything you need for an well equipped stay on the island.

  • Situated in a calm little town directly at the beach the house offers a quite holiday residence without being exposed to mass-tourism or tourism at all. The house itself was very clean and friendly and provides all necessity for your daily live, you won't miss anything. It offers a great view over the beach and nearby sea. No other houses are disturbing your view since it`s located on hill. We didn't spend much time there since we where busy exploring the island. If you`re looking for a calm stay in a very nice house with an awesome view, Helens House should be your preferred choice!

  • A fantastic home, equipped with everything you could want. It is located in a quiet and charming place, with a wonderful climate protected from the wind (in Fuerteventura this is important!). The terrace is wonderful, we spent there some beautiful days and cooked fresh fish in the grea tbarbecue! helen's house is ideal for people who like a peaceful holiday in contact with nature. Furthermore has a convenient location for visiting the south part of Fuerteventura. We hope to come back one day!

  • We spent an amazing 10 days with our 1year old daughter at Helens place. the bungalow was perfect sizewise and we had everything we needed. the terras was where we mainly spent our time: it's HUGE, full of sunshine, shade enough to escape the heat on some days, nice breezes, an amazing view on the bay of Giniginamar and safe for our girl to walk her first steps without reaching the stairs. If for breakfast the sun was a bit too much (early morningsun reaches the covered part where the table stands), we moved to the back terras where there was enough shade to wake up at ease and get used to the temperature. Giniginamar is the perfect location to discover Fuerteventura by car. From the rough beaches and mountains of Cofete up to more touristical places like Corralejo, never further then a 1,5h drive. we recommend this place for people who like to discover Fuerteventura and the hidden treasures it contains without being trapped in touristical places or resorts. Giniginamar is quiet and cute. We loved it! Koen, Griet & Charlie

  • Ginginamar is a very quiet, charming little haven and the view from the terrace is just as nice as it looks in the pictures. So if you a looking for a quiet get-away, this is a good pick. The little restaurant in town, down on the beach, is also recommended. However, the house is clearly a smokers house - and it has a feel of not being anyones "real" home, aka "loved and taken care" of by anyone. If we had stayed longer, we would have tried to give it proper and thorough cleaning, but instead my husband opted for sleeping in the car the two nights, as the old, lingering smoke and tons of dog hair in the sofa made his allergies explode when he tried to go inside. So the place easily passed on location and view, but could definately do with a good cleaning, including the cuttlery where you could still see what others had been eating - and the dusty floor and furniture. Next time, I will remember to be more careful to check if it is a smokers and dog-home before renting and put time aside for cleaning up before moving in - but if you have no problem with these things, and you like a place where you can hear your own thoughts and the sound of the wind and waves breaking, this terrace and Ginginamar is for you.

    Response from Helen:

Thank you Line for your honest appraisal of the house as you found it. I can only apologise for the state it seems to have been in. This is clearly not the usual standard of accommodation we offer to our guests. We ourselves do not smoke and have no pets and we have a no pet policy and smokers are asked to only smoke on the terrace. So, I will have to investigate further into how it came to be that there was dog hair and smoke! I do not live on the island and so have to rely on others for cleaning but if you had let me know while you were there we could have done something about it immediately, either getting it cleaned while you were sightseeing or even moving you to my other apartment. I am so sorry that your holiday was spoiled to some extent and since you liked the setting ask that you consider one of my apartments, as opposed to the house next time.

  • We loved our stay in the lovely village of Giniginamar. The location is perfect for visiting any part of the Island.

The house, built on the slope of a mountain, has a big terrace out front overlooking the bay with table and chairs and a stone barbecue. The kitchen is well equipped (a house that has knives that cut and a whetstone is a good house!). Two steps separate the kitchen from the cosy living room. Dimmer switches on the lights were much appreciated. The sun comes in the bedroom window and the bathroom is just next to the bedroom. The washing machine is outside on the back terrace surrounded by the typical Fuerteventuristic garden (cactus, palm trees). We felt secure and comfortable and lucky!

Whether it be for the sunrise, the ocean, the mountains, the sunset or the stars at night, here is a front row seat.

There is a three minute walk down to the beach, which we mostly shared with seagulls. It is excellent for swimming.

You do need a car, as the host suggests, to shop. Gran Tarajal, the next town along the coast has all commodities – even a 24H grocery store and an internet spot that charged us 1 euro per hour. It is a nice place and the beach is good there as well.

The contact person in Giniginamar is very sweet and she and her husband live not far if ever there is a problem. The owner replied quickly and her enthusiasm gave us the feeling that this vacation was going to be fun. And it certainly was. We hope to be back some day.
