A castle in the Tuscan countryside. The ideal place for a holiday of relaxation, culture and good wine.

The space
the Castle is divided into 4 apartments: La Limonaia, La Loggia, I Veroni and Il Cantuccio
The apartment is on the first floor of the Castle.
It consists of a bright living room, double bedroom, kitchen and bathroom with shower. From the characteristic Gothic windows you can admire the view of the rolling Tuscan hills and the ancient towers of San Gimignano on the horizon.

A little history.....

The first certain date in the history of the castle is July 25, 998, when the Marquis Ugo of Tuscany gave it to the church in the hope of saving his soul from the impending end of the world of the year 1000. It was a very important Benedictine monastery, rich and powerful on the ancient route of Via Francigena, a must-visit for pilgrimages to Rome.
Due to its militarily strategic position, it was destroyed in the 16th century by the war between Florence and Siena and later rebuilt in neo-Gothic style in 1886.
Although after the rebuilding, the ancient structure remains nothing more than the cloister of the eleventh century, still today the walls, walkways, the lookout point and the crenellated towers maintain the atmosphere and charm of the Middle Ages.

Guest access
Walking through the ancient cloister, you can reach the garden and the swimming pool (17x7) surrounded by olive trees and dominated by the entrance tower.

Location

Poggibonsi, Siena, Italy

The Castle is located in Poggibonsi, a village, unfortunately destroyed by the Second World War, but which still retains traces of its ancient past in the alleys that intertwine in the historic centre or in the majestic Fortress of Poggio Imperiale, a beautiful example of military architecture from the fifteenth century.
In the center of the village there are some restaurants and taverns where you can taste typical Tuscan dishes without forgetting a good glass of Chianti.
