Our (your) house is a small ,70 square meter, 4 floor monument located at the very heart of the Jordaan. This used to be a workingclass neighbourhood but the Jordaan has become area dotted with art galleries; speciality shops and restaurants.
The house is located in a quiet street in this lively neighbourhood.
The house has 4 floors but is small. It has 2 bedrooms which makes it a perfect house to stay with 2 children. It's NOT really comfortable to stay in the house wit 4 adults!
Since the house has 3 staircases it is onfortunately not suitable for disabled travelers.
Children under 4 stay for free. Children or grown ups exta (after 2 guests) pay €25.
Pets are welcome, but please keep in mind that Amsterdam is not a very dogfriendly city.
The kitchen is on the groundfloor. (the entrance IS the kitchen)
On the first floor is the livingroom with comfortable coutch and flatscreen TV.
The second floor has a toilet; bathroom with shower and a small bedroom with bunkbed. Babybed is available.
Third floor locates the masterbedroom. bed is 1.80 wide 2.00 long
I provide fresh towels and bed linen.

My husband and I got the chance to stay at Joke's beautiful home. I had lived a few blocks away several years ago and was happy that we could get to close to the same location! Joke's home was immaculate, decorated with amazing taste and is off the beaten path from the touristy area - but close enough to everything you could need.
We ate at la perla down the street twice, and enjoyed the markets on Saturday. Also enjoyed a little boutique called "unicorn boutique" just down the road. Found everyone to be very helpful and friendly.
Regarding Joke - she is super quick to respond to questions, was incredibly accomodating. Our flight was initially cancelled, and she allowed us to stay an extra night so we wouldn't miss a day in Amsterdam!
Would definitely stay here again, were sad to leave. Cannot wait to get back there, and have already recommended Joke's home to several friends/family members. THANK YOU for an amazing place to stay during our Amsterdam vacation.
We're Americans, husband, wife, daughter. We've been throughout Europe and Africa but never Holland - our first trip. This was in February and we had good weather, thankfully.
Getting there was easy: train from Schipol to Centraal, tram to one of two stops near her house. She'll tell you exactly how to do it. You'll be very, very sorry if you rent a car and plan to only stay in the city.
Joke was an excellent host, meeting us at the tram stop to guide us to her home. There were food and drinks waiting for us along with a great coffee maker and plenty of coffee (sorry we drank so much, Joke).
The house is really awesome. Sure, the square footage is small but it seems much larger. There was plenty of space for my wife, daughter, and me. Appliances, shower, etc. were all top notch.
The staircase could be intimidating to less-mobile people as it's quite narrow and winding. There are gates available if you have young children to worry about. We had no problem with the stairs.
The neighborhood is quiet and lovely, maybe the best in Ams for families. Plenty of really good restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance.
Our favorite restaurants:
L'Invite (newish, French-inspired)
Razmataz: more traditional french
La Perla: wood-fired pizza
Winkel: cafe with good food and apple tarte
Songkran: authentic, superb Thai food
The museums are comfortable walking distance, about 25 minutes along the canal. (website hidden) Maps is your friend. You can walk most anywhere then tram back if you're tired, which we often did. Joke also makes available two city bikes for you but we decided to walk everywhere so as to not miss anything. There is a Jumbo supermarket close by to stock up for your visit along with beautiful bakeries and delis.
The market in the Jordaan on Mondays is fantastic. Great values, very neighborly, fun. They start to pack up around 2, so get there early. Much better, in our opinion, than the Albert Cuyp street market which is more commercial.
We had an amazing time in Amsterdam, no doubt a lot because we felt so at home in Joke's place. If we had had our dogs and cats with us we might not have left!
What a great place to stay, joke was a great hostess very welcoming, and we where really happy with the house, Jordan is a great base from which to see Amsterdam, its residential and quite but with lovely little bars and cafes a short walk away. The house was beautiful and really tastefully decorated (lovely shower and hot water all the time!) I highly recommend joke house the area and joke herself, it was a lovely introduction to Amsterdam and Airbnb(ing!) in general, i'll definitely be back! Thanks Joke
what a wonderful stay and honeymoon we had at Joke's flat. I could not recommend it highly enough. A lovely, warm welcome on arrival and nibbles and wine to ease ourselves into our holiday. The house is so unique with the comfiest sofa in holland - we dozed off on there on the second night:)) wonderful markets, bars and arty shops in the area. and just mile down the road, the movies 1920's cinema, beautiful! we shall be returning as soon as possible. even the rain did not dampen our fantastic stay x
Wonderful accommodation! We felt right at home here, and didn't want for anything. It was a great place to come home to at the end of the day, and the wine, beer and snacks were a welcoming touch as well!
The apartment itself was very quiet (we had great sleeps) but a close walking distance to many great restaurants, cafes and attractions, and the neighbourhood felt very safe and friendly. The radiant heating in the kitchen floor was a nice surprise, and despite it being the middle of January, we were never cold. The stairs are typical of most places in Amsterdam, but we likes to think it helped us burn off some of the cheese and beer :) We would definitely recommend this apartment and hope to return ourselves someday soon.
We had a wonderful time in Jokes house.
The communication with Joke was very easy and friendly.
We had a very warm welcome when we arrived in Amsterdam and we immediately felt comfortable at the house.
The house itself is nice, quite and very close to center and Joke was a very wonderful host.
So if we come again, we really would like to stay here again.
Thank you Joke !!!
This house is just perfect. Great location, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Joke left wonderful snacks and drinks for us and a beautiful bouquet of tulips. There were also toys for our son, which he really enjoyed. The stairs are a bit steep, so we had to be careful with our two-year old. There is a gate on the 1st floor (living room), so it was safe for him to play there. There are several guide books and maps in the house. We really enjoyed our Christmas holiday stay!
My daughters and I had a lovely stay in joke's house early December 2013. It's in a great location, quiet, yet close to museums, cafés and bars and shopping areas. The house was really nice with a lovely kitchen and sitting room. joke made us very welcome, we were very pleased with her very kind welcome gift would definitely recommend Joke's house, I will certainly go again.
Our Weekend in Amsterdam was fantastic. Jokes house was just amazing, the perfect place; quiet but close to places we wanted to visit. Joke was very friendly, uncomplicated and we felt welcome.
Whenever we will visit Amsterdam again it would be great if we could stay at this place again.
Unfortunately we were not able to visit Joke's house due to illness. However, Joke was easy to communicate with, understanding and extremely helpful. We hope to visit her house soon.
