This fresh, spacious and clean sanctuary allows you to unwind after a busy day on the medieval, cobbled streets of Edinburgh. Relax in a comfortable bed in a quiet area just minutes to the city centre. Hearty breakfast and ugly dolls also provided.
I would like to welcome you to a clean, spacious and pretty room which has a comfortable double bed, a dresser, bedside tables with great reading lamps, and a desk. It's also the biggest bedroom in my 2 bedroom flat (lucky you!).
My flat is a two-storey maisonette (kitchen/lounge/bathroom on the top floor) and has awesome views of Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags. Upstairs has the large living room with a fireplace, dining area, a fully-equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom with pedestal sink and bathtub. Hot water even comes out of the taps too! Overall, the flat is quiet, clean, tastefully decorated (if I do say so myself) and very central to the best spots. I love living here.
PLACES TO VISIT
No matter what time of year you come, there is lots to see and do in Edinburgh! And you will be super central: 8 mins to the Royal Mile, 12 mins to Waverley Station, 3 mins to Tesco, 5 mins to the University of Edinburgh, 15 mins to New Town and only 12 mins to the Castle! No public transport for you!
PLACES TO EAT
As a cost-conscious "foodie" myself, I know how important it is to find affordable but GOOD restaurants. Don't despair - I've done my research! Nearby are dozens of great restaurants for all budgets (Kebab Mahal has the BEST shawarma!) and I can recommend great spots for any time of day... I am an expert eater & drinker. It's a special talent of mine.
You will have your own key to come and go as you please. My flat has gas central heating, a washing machine, a microwave, fireplace, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, and free unlimited WiFi. Many guests have commented on my amazing, super-fast internet speed. Street parking is available too. Linens and towels are provided.
I provide an assortment of simple breakfast foods (depending on my hunting skills): salami, cheese, eggs, bread, bananas, coffee, tea, juice, milk, various cereals, porridge, jams, Nutella, etc, (though I do recommend a full Scottish breakfast at a great restaurant less than 5 mins away!)
You will have full access to my whole flat, with the exception of my bedroom. (But, c'mon, that would be creepy if I didn't say that).
Interaction with Guests
I've had some of the most unusual and fulfilling chats with my guests, ranging from Brazilian cooking techniques to Roman road-building methods in Britain in the 4th century. I tell ya, people are fascinating.
BUT: I am there as much as you want or need me! I will follow your lead, and let you decide how much interaction we have. I find that is the best way.
The area along the Pleasance is very central and very safe, with the St. Leonard's Police Station just a block away. The building complex in which I live is clean, safe but comparatively modern (looks like a grey communist block built by Jo Stalin himself) in comparison to the pretty 19th century tenements. But to be fair, what do you care what the building looks like on the outside, when you're on the inside? The views of Arthur's Seat are magnificent and I wouldn't change it for the world.
You don't need public transportation when you live in my flat! You can walk literally everywhere that is noteworthy, such as Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, Grassmarket, Calton Hill, Princes Street and New Town. The only time you need public transport is to visit the Highlands or Roslyn Chapel. Not bad, eh?
Other Things to Note
The building complex can be confusing. A week before you arrive, I will provide directions, outlining an easy route. Please look at the directions when I send them to you!!!!!!!! (They will help! Promise!)
***August 2015 FESTIVAL*** I am happy to accommodate 1 night stays (rather than the minimum 2 nights). Please message me to discuss.
This is a non-smoking flat, but feel free to smoke outside. Please clean up after yourself though!
No pets please, unless they're fish. No shoes, unless they're socks.
Only my guests are allowed in the flat unless agreed with me beforehand.
We arrived pretty late at night at Chelsea's place due to a flight delay and she actually stayed up waiting for us. Gave us some short tips on where to go before she went to bed with a map that she prepared herself. Room was clean, flat was really spacious. Chelsea is a real interesting person to talk to, and she is specially good in recommending on which place to dine on.
Chelsea was really good at corresponding with me prior to my visit and the entire time I stayed in her home. Her place was nice, and the room was excellent. Chelsea is a very good host and a good communicator. I had a very pleasant stay and always felt very comfortable. I recommend a stay at Chelsea's based on my experience.
Our two night stay in Chelsea's apartment was great. Chelsea was a very welcoming host. She gave us great ideas about things to see and places to eat. Like the best way to climb up Arthur's Seat and the delicious sticky toffee pudding.
The room was exactly as described. It was clean and comfortable, with two lovely ugly dolls. (P.S. I am a huge fan of green. I really fell in love with the room during our stay. lol) Location was good, it only took us a short walk (about 15 minutes to different tourist spots).
Would highly recommend if you are spending some time in Edinburgh!
A very pleasant stay. Wish we could stay longer. Chelsea was very helpful and informative.
Fantastic is the word I would use to describe this amazing flat! What a perfect location, Chelsea lives in a quiet neighbourhood, yet is very close to Edinburgh U and everything else. Her lovely home is a two level flat with an incredible view of the Seat of Arthur. With her encouragement we climbed up the morning we left the city and thus could appreciate the wonderful views of the city from the summit. We were taken as well by the rock exposure, the type section, where Hutton established modern geology. We met many friendly folks walking their dogs despite the early hour. Even more impressive were the runners going up and down the slopes repeatedly! Chelsea offered so many tips on all the great things to see in Edinburgh and as she recommends - do head to Edinburgh Castle 1st thing in the morning - and avoid the crowds. She'll let you in on where to eat and anything else you care to do. The flat is amazing, the bed exception for a good night's rest and do enjoy the wonderful art which I think makes this home extra special.
Our stay with Chelsea was great! Her apartment looks just like the pictures. Everything is clean and tidy. It is in a good quiet location with a great view.
Chelsea is a great host! She was very helpful and kind. She gave us plenty of reccomendations and opened her flat to us. Her instructions to the apartment and anywhere we asked about in the city were great.
We had a wonderful stay and highly reccommend her flat!
Our stay at Chelsea's apartment was really GREAT! The apartment was really clean, Chelsea ready did everything to make us feel at home, she was really flexible to meet us when we arrive, the room where we were staying was exactly like on the picture, really beautiful, cozy and quiet, the breakfast prepared for us was really good, location was perfect and apartment beautiful. We really had an amazing weekend and will definitely come back again. Highly recommanded for a nice, relaxing and really enjoyable stay. Thanks a lot Chelsea for making our weekend so lovely!!!

I am a Canadian completing a PhD in Second World War history at the University of Edinburgh. When I'm not reading my books, I am oftentimes down at the pub, shopping on Prince's Street or walking around Arthur's Seat. I love Scotland very much, and if I need a break, I visit the continent as much as I can. Loving Europe!
