As an American I travel to see what I can learn from different societies, many with interesting and sometimes more effective solutions to the problems that beset my country. It's easy to forget how dominant the Dutch have been in past world wide history. Yke's place helps put America in perspective. The canals on which it is situated provide a cultured peaceful and delightful space that few American cities can provide. The furnishings and ambience of the apartment are a striking reflection of the intensely cultured character of the Dutch. In all it was not only a pleasure to stay at Yke's apartment, but also a privilege. It was the centerpiece of my flourishing admiration for the unique outlook the Dutch have on life.

Wonderful in every way. Freat location (just a few blocks from the Anne Frank house and trams), we were able to cook several meals and eat in, plenty of space for the family. Try Cafe de Klos for ribs and chicken while you're there.

Wonderful apartment! We came as a group of friends (two couples) to explore the city of Amsterdam, and ride bikes to other local towns, for a one week vacation. The apartment was perfect for our needs - very quiet, clean, comfortable, and is located in an excellent area. We were close to the center of the city and close to Central Station to take the ferry or train. The two beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the living room was beautiful and spacious. We loved the large, open window with the view of the street and canal. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this apartment to friends and family!

Our favorite spot in all of Amsterdam was the front window of this beautiful apartment!! Watching the people riding their bikes through the neighborhood and the boats in the canal was peaceful and very enjoyable after a long day sightseeing. Location is close to everything. Dam Square is just a couple of blocks away and there is a big food market close by with great selection of readymade salads, sandwiches and anything you need. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!

A wonderful apartment in a quiet upmarket canal street. An easy walk to Centraal train station, very close to tram stops and a great supermarket, lots of restaurants nearby. Lovely spacious living/ dining area, with big windows looking onto the canal. Sunny and airy living areas. Great kitchen, well equipped and easy to use. FABULOUS VIEW! Being a centuries old canal house, access is via a set of steep narrow stairs, which aren't very well lit. The two bedrooms are at the back of the apartment, and are quite dark, but very comfortable- and after all, they're just for sleeping. We felt very looked after, with plenty of advice and help when we needed it from Stejn, who lives downstairs. Checkin and checkout were easy and flexible, and we were able to store our bags after we checked out. We would return in a heartbeat, and recommend the apartment wholeheartedly.

Every bit of our stay was great, even the booking process. Yke would reply right away to any questions we had about the booking. When we got there we were greeted by his son, Styn. He was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was even better than we had imagined. We loved sitting at the open window watching the boats go by. The apartment was so cozy and beautiful. It was quiet and we slept so well in the comfortable beds. The shower was perfect. The neighborhood was charming and we found wonderful places to eat close by. Even a grocery store just about around the corner. Easy walking distance to just about everything. If we ever had a question, Styn would reply right away. The whole experience just made us wan to come back and stay all over again and we hope we get to sometime soon. Thanks for the wonderful stay!
