Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
This "far in the boonies" home is a great place to get away from it all! Large old farm home, well-kept and clean, family-friendly. Located far away from any town or city. Plenty of acres to explore. Miles of small roads and trails to hike. Plenty of lawn to stretch out and fields to romp through. Small creek on the property to wade & splash in. Explore the old barn and watch the stars at night. Great for your kids, family, pets, and small events. Many of our guests call it "Grandma's House"!

The space
This was my childhood home where my mom and dad lived for 55 years until their passing. It is a sturdy and happy home but it needs someone to visit it now and then. It used to be a farm until the mid-60s. A barn and shanty are still available for use. Granted, this home is a "throwback!"- my parents were no decorators so the style is very late 70's! But it is well stocked, clean, quiet, comfortable, and ready for your stay!

All 3 of the bedrooms plus the main bathroom are on the second floor. However, if one of your guests has trouble with stairs, we can convert the 1st-floor living room into a 4th bedroom for an additional $35 fee. (A half-bath is already on the 1st floor.) It will include a full-size bed from a fold-out couch with an extra memory foam pad , privacy doors, and a small dresser. If a 4th bedroom is something you would like, please mention it in your message to me when you make your booking reservation!

Guest access
Anything that is not locked is available to you! That includes all floors, cabinets and furniture PLUS all buildings outside! (The detached garage is not available.) Help yourself to whatever food happens to be in the cabinets, fridge and freezer. (Perishables like bread, fruit, milk and eggs should be brought by you if you want them.) Kindling and firewood are available for use in the fireplace or the outside fire ring.

Other things to note
Welcome "the boonies". Therefore....
-We get water from a WATER WELL. It is tested regularly and is OK to drink but some think it tastes different. Fresh purified drinking water is available from a water cooler in the kitchen.
- In the summer when it is dry, you may run out of water if you take frequent showers or flush often. (Only two guests ran out of water since 2017.) Please be considerate of your water usage.
-There is wifi from a cell hotspot in the den. It's not the best but it is the best we can get for our rural area.
-Cellphone service is weak but reliable for most mobile providers- about 3 "bars" outside and 2 "bars" inside. If you walk up the field behind the house, you get better reception. If you drive up the road to the top of the hill, you get GREAT reception!
-The HDTV is thru a rooftop antenna- about 32 channels- some channels are sporadic.
- A local farmer is farming our fields right up against the back lawn. Be careful around his crops. There are plenty of other areas where you or your pet can go where the farmer didn't plant anything.
- Smoking is permitted only outside

Neighborhood highlights

There's not much of a neighborhood. The nearest neighbor is 500 feet down the road and across the street. They keep to themselves. Past that is a family greenhouse operation. Up the road, the nearest neighbor is 1/2 away and he is pretty cool. The neighbor across the street from him is a super great family! If you bump into them, you will enjoy talking with them. Hungry? There is a nice back-woods family restaurant called "Grandma's Kitchen" about 3 miles away that is open only for breakfast and lunch.
