Walk/bike midtown: just blocks from lively restaurants, wine bars, brew pubs, art galleries, and coffee houses, your visit includes a comfy double bed in a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath bungalow in the "City of Trees." Set on a lovely tree lined street, the bungalow overlooks the greenbelt and is located in historic Boulevard Park amongst Victorian and craftsman style homes.
The home's living room features large windows with great views of the neighborhood offering a respite from the hustle and bustle. Relax on the sofa, sip a glass of wine, and gaze out on the lush foliage and passerby's.
Your bedroom, at 10' X 11' is the quietest room in the house. It connects to a Jack-n-Jill bathroom where you may shower. The half bath, nearby, is for your personal use. Also available, is a locked shed for your bike.
Within a few blocks you will find Old Soul Coffee house, a yoga studio, and delicious eateries (farm-to-table fare, Thai, Spanish, Mediterranean, Japanese, Mexican, Italian). Live music venues such as Old Ironsides, Harlow's, Torch Club, Fox N Goose, and Marilyn's are also nearby. I'd be happy to share more once I learn what you're seeking during your stay.
If your passion is biking, this location is perfect as the American River bike trail access is just a few blocks away. It's a smooth trail with plenty of squirrels and rabbits; some cranes and turkeys; and the occasional deer, coyote, and rattle snake.
Most likely, after the ride, you'll be ready for a cold beer and a hardy meal. I'll be glad to direct you to the perfect spot to fill the void.
Back at the bungalow you can sit on the porch or patio, meet neighbors, read, or play with house resident/pet Goldie. The kitchen and washer/dryer are available for your use if needed.
My home is in walking distance to the State Capitol, Old Sacramento, farmers markets, Governor's mansion, museums, and jogging parks. The bus stop is nearby and travels to downtown, towards Old Sac, and to Sacramento State University.
Fruit, coffee, and Nature's Plus flax-seed cereal on site (non-fat milk). Street parking with parking pass.
No television on site. Free street parking.
House, your own half-bathroom just off the kitchen & utility room, shared shower attached to the bedroom (Jack-n-Jill bathroom), washer/dryer, & shed to store bike.
Interaction with Guests
Whatever is appropriate and time alows. I enjoy communicating with guests and showing them around town when I am available.
The trees are wonderful. They are approximately 100 years old and provide needed shade during the hot summer months. In the fall their changing colors are lovely.
Public transportation picks up and drops off across the street, via Regional Transit. This is also a friendly walking and biking community. Many of my long term guests hadn't been on a bike in years, but they came to really enjoy riding around town or on the bike trail.
Other Things to Note
Independent & international films at a nearby movie theater. Also nearby, several good night clubs, coffee shops, live music spots, and really good live theaters with professional actors.
State ID or passport required upon arrival.
Clean up after yourself. Be kind to my dog and allow a few minutes to learn how to greet her.
Respect the neighbors, my home and belongings.
This is a scent-free home, no strong colognes/perfumes.
No smoking, drugs, or heavy drinkers. *No downloading inappropriate websites or illegal material using my wifi.
And of course, ENJOY!
Everything in the description was accurate and led to a good experience with this host. She was willing to adjust her schedule to accommodate an uncertain arrival time. The house has great old charm and it is so much nicer to stay in a place like that than a cardboard hotel. It is a full bed, which I missed in the description. While it isn't ideal for someone 6'3", I still had no problem sleeping.
Great, safe neighborhood within walking distance to the capital. Monica was accommodating and very friendly.
Great weekend stay with Monica. I was in Sacramento for the first time to see if I may want to relocate there. Even before I arrived Monica gave me some great suggestions on how to get around the city (I chose not to rent a car). The location is perfect in Midtown - I even walked from the Capital back to Midtown effortlessly.
Monica is a great host and Goldie is adorable.
Great room in a nice section of Sacramento. Very walkable, very quiet. Monica was a great host. Had coffee and even fresh squeezed oj in the morning, a true bonus.
Monica was an easy going and fun host. The room was spacious and quiet, and the bed is super comfortable! The house is centrally located with coffee shops, bars, restaurants and parks all within walking distance. I would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a place to crash in Midtown Sacramento.

I'm the tall smart pretty one. The one to the right is the very talented Chuck Prophet of the Chuck Prophet & the Mission Express. You will find I can be quite social, but I do value my solitude. I will try to be available as time allows if you like.

My contributions include mentoring, adopting a rescue dog, and community activism.
I also enjoy music of many genres; foreign & independent films; the theater; walking my dog; riding the bike on the American River trail; hiking, reading, traveling especially to the beach; and listening to Science Friday and Fresh Air with Terry Gross.
Some of my favorite destination spots include: Central Park/Manhattan; Lake Constance on the Bodensee; Waldbad, Anif; Salzburg; Boll, Croatia; Oaxaca, Mexico; the Big Island, Hawaii; Tobago, and Marin County. There are still so many places I'd like to venture to, such as Vietnam, Thailand, Norway, Ireland, Bahamas, and of course take in more of California and embark on several road trips across the U.S. We'll see how it goes.
When hosting, I share information with guests about my home town and the surrounding areas. You can be sure of having a comfortable stay in a cozy home with clean quarters. I offer nothing less than what I appreciate when traveling.
