  • Only stay here if it is your last option. Don't get me wrong the location is great, but host isn't very accommodating. First, when we arrived to the apartment there was half eaten leftovers in the fridge. Not a huge deal, but since you are paying a cleaning fee it would be nice to know the cleaners actually came. Malee told me the cleaners probably got confused and thought the previous guests are coming back, and wanted the food. Ok fine, but the next thing pretty much proved Malee theory wrong. I went into the bathroom and all the towels in the shower were soaked. For this reason I believe the cleaners never came in the first place. Or if they did, they should find a new line of work. Also, I had a little trouble finding the key to the apartment, so I decided to call Malee. Instead of helping me locate the key box, she yelled at me, and called me an idiot. Some quality customer service. One last thing, Malee told me I could checkout at 10:30 (although her listing says 11!). Fine. I had to meet and friend and decided to head out anyways. Malee showed up at 9:45 to get me out of the apartment. She claimed if was for the cleaners, but if you read my story above, who knows if the cleaners ever come.

  • We rented the first floor 1 bedroom.

    Let’s start with the GOOD:
    The location, THE END.

Now let me share the BAD:
-After Malee left I noticed there was Bleach Gel all over the hall floors and in the bathroom from the rushed $100 cleaning job.
-The bed is one of the most uncomfortable and noisy beds I have ever slept on with springs pushing into your body and the sheets are so thin you can see through them with sad excuses for pillows.
-The showers under the stairs is a little weird but I didn’t mind it besides the fact that with the door closed you can barely move around. What did bother me about the shower was the fan above the shower head was filthy with dust (for the amount we pay for cleaning how hard is it to wipe that down???) ---The shower curtain! How hard is it to get a pair of scissors and cut the bottom of the curtain so it’s not laying in bottom of the tub as you shower?
-Towels are old, cheap and thin and she only gives you two
-No hand soap, just dish soap in the kitchen
-Upon our second stay after we arrived and used the toilet it backed up, talk about killing the mood. With no plunger around Malee asked me to go to the store and buy one and she would repay me. I obliged and she did repay me for it.
-Noise from upstairs and the front gate slamming as idiot tenants come and go early in the am do not lend the place to a location to sleep in through the morning. You can hear everything above and outside your unit so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
-Scuffed walls and sparse furniture do not make this the most appealing rental. The walls are chipped, scuffed and dirty with cheap 1980’s garage sale art attempting to decorate the walls.
-Access key, its janky and needs finessing to lock or unlock the door.

The bottom line is this would not be my first or second pick, for the price it will do in a pinch but frankly now I would rather spend more money to have a better place with nicer accommodations. A simple investment on her part to get a better bed, paint the walls and add some simple hip pictures that actually fill the wall, get some nice towels at Target they don’t cost a lot and have some hand soap, bath soap and little shampoos for your guest it will go a long way and cost almost nothing. She could be charging more if she made some simple improvements.

  • Unfortunately, an extremely poor experience. No towels, hardly any linens, leaking toilet, DIRTY floors, no garbage bags, and a pungent smell of something rotting. Save your $ and go somewhere else.

  • Würde nicht mehr bei Frau Tang übernachten.
Kaum ist man vor Ort, ist man auf sich alleine gestellt.
Außerdem: Bilder entsprechen NICHT der Wahrheit.

    Would not go there again.
If you reach the flat and got the key, you wont get any further help from Malee.
Pictures are not what the flat looks like in reality.

  • For the price and location, the apartment was decent enough. The bed was pretty uncomfortable and really loud. The shower curtain didn't have rings that would stay closed so it would fall open a lot when you were showering which was annoying to deal with. If you're traveling on a budget and anticipate being out and about all day and will basically only use the apartment to sleep and shower in, its a good pick. But if you can afford more and want a more comfortable place to lounge and relax in, I would go elsewhere.

  • Overall good experience. I had a much different experience because I stayed for here 2.5 months while I was working in SF. I have additional pictures if anyone else is interested. Please message me.

    Pros:
    - Clean apartment with all of the basics (sofa, bed, sheets and pillows, kitchen with silverwear, fridge)
    - Awesome neighborhood near all of the major attractions

    Cons:
    - Smaller than I would've liked
    - Difficult to communicate with Malee at times

  • Malee was a very nice and welcoming host. After checking out she and her son went out of their way to drive me downtown and help me find a place to keep my bags for the day. They are both very kind and i highly recommend staying here.

  • The location was great! Walking distance to many restaurants, bars, Chinatown, and (a long walk) to the Embarcadero.

The place itself was a nice size, larger than any hotel room for the same price. It was very simply furnished, nothing more than you needed! Honestly, as with any vacation, we wanted to explore the city, not stay in a room all day. So it was great for our needs.

The bed wasn't the best. Very old, VERY squeaky mattress and thin pillows. I was able to sleep okay, but if you have back or neck problems, try the couch!

  • I've stayed in this place twice and the area is just amazing. So much to do and see in the immediate area (City Lights Bookstore is a favourite of mine), a small walk from the piers, and so very very many restaurants. The apartment is on the small side, and the shower is a bit awkward, but it's such a great area you probably won't care.

  • Great location, just up the hill a bit from City Lights bookstore and all its splendor, and a really lovely apartment. Well worth staying here if you're traveling solo and want to stay in an interesting neighborhood. There's more than enough to keep you busy nearby, all within easy walking distance.
