A very comfortable bed, cold AC, fast internet, and direct access to Singapore's unique food culture and points of interest - this room is unbeatable.

The Space

This room is the perfect spot to experience a unique and rare opportunity to stay in a charming, historic high rise building atop Singapore's first enclosed modern mall. This iconic building is located in the heart of it all with a lush park behind and both old world Chinatown and the sprawling new downtown just an elevator ride away. It is uniquely positioned for both culture and commerce.

It's not the Ritz, but I've taken care to provide everything you may need to have a relaxing and fulfilling trip in Singapore, whether it's to visit a friend, interview for a job or simply sight see! The bedding is all brand new. If there's anything additional you require for your stay, please just let me know.

Are you a foodie?! If you want the best access to Singapore's diverse food culture, look no further! Newly opened and sooo good, you'll find Chinatown Food Street 2 blocks away, offering fresh coconuts, laksa, popiah, chill crab and much more Also directly downstairs is Chinatown hawker centre for Chinese food, and a few blocks away you'll have many more options at Amoy Hawker Stall or Maxwell Food Center.

Located on the 22nd level of a high-rise commercial & residential building, the room offers a fantastic view of Singapore and gives direct access to literally everything:

The Chinatown MRT is in the basement of the building - two stops in opposite directions will bring you to Little India or access to Sentosa Island. Taxis are easily accessible at the taxi stand downstairs 24hrs.

++ Chinatown surroundings

++ Huge outdoor eatery (hawker center) downstairs selling delicious meals for a few dollars. Great for people watching!

++ Clarke Quay & the Singaporean River (10 min. walk) is a night life hotspot.

++ Club street (5 min. walk) sophisticated hot spot for food & drinks.

++ The business district, Fullerton Hotel, and the Merlion are about a 20 minute walk.

Too lazy to walk? The Chinatown MRT is in the basement of the building - two stops in opposite directions will bring you to Little India or access to Sentosa Island. Taxis are easily accessible at the taxi stand downstairs 24hrs.

*********************YOUR STAY*****************
The Room with a View is a great place to stay for short term transit or to book for a longer period to study or job hunt.

++ Internet is provided

++ Linens and anything else I can offer that you may have forgotten to pack

++ The bathroom is a classic Singaporean wet toilet and a few steps from the room.

++ A small kitchen with a stove suitable for cooking, as well as a washer & dryer is provided.

++ Many Breakfast options just downstairs in the food center!

It's is very charming & filled with local character. Many people who come tell me they chose the apartment because it's their favorite area in Singapore.

++ 24 hour security at the lift.

The building was the first shopping centre of its kind in Southeast Asia and set the pattern for later retail developments in Singapore. Occupying 1.0 hectare in the heart of Chinatown, the People's Park Complex was the largest shopping complex in the shopping commercial belt along Eu Tong Sen Street and New Bridge Road.

I'm glad to be able to provide a room for anyone who wants to get a taste of real Singapore and would love to help make your stay as comfortable as possible.

  • Perfect location.I haven't met Sarah but she is nice landlord. Will stay here next time if I come Singapore.

  • I had a great stay over at Sarah's apartment. It was very quiet at all times and everything you need is one stop shop away. The room is good enough for two people while the common are is always organized and clean. Washer and dryer are available, a kitchen, a cozy place, everything you need in a home away from home is right there. Sarah is very responsive and attentive and sort of omni present eventhough she was not there at the time.

Again, it's a great place to stay if you're a traveller on a budget.

    Thanks for a great stay,

  • I've been staying with Sarah for almost 3 months, because of an internship I did in Singapore. I liked the place, it's location is perfect. You can basically walk everywhere if you like. The room was clean and a maid was looking after the place on a regular basis. I had nothing to complain about. Thank you Sarah and all the best!

  • My husband and I stayed with Sarah for a few days over New Years. The apartment is in a fantastic location. You walk out the doors and you are in the middle of everything, but it's still a quiet apartment building. This place is a prime location to explore Singapore from. If you're a good walker, it's a nice walk to the bay from here.

The place was clean, decently spacious, had a washer and dryer, tv, and wifi. She even provided a chocolate at check-in :)

We only met Sarah once or twice really briefly, but we emailed her once when we wanted to keep our bags there after checkout and she was pretty quick to respond saying of course.

The only downside was that food past 8pm was harder to find in the area - with the exception of 7-11 and a 24hr McDonalds.

  • The location of this place is fantastic - just a couple of minutes' walk from Chinatown MRT so you can get anywhere in the city very quickly. It's right above a big shopping mall and food court where you can get good Chinese food and anything else you might want to buy very cheaply. The view from the 22nd floor windows across the city is great, especially at night.

The low price reflects that the bedrooms and bathrooms are quite basic - fine for a night or two but if you're staying longer you might want something a little more luxurious. Sarah is helpful and friendly when she's around but she and her husband are both busy working people so don't have a lot of time to entertain guests.

  • Nice owner, nice staying over at her place, near to MRT station very convenient to city area. Food can be find just below the apartment. Good recommendation to friends visit Singapore.

  • Great experience overall, she has a unique way of passing you the key so you don't have to face the hassle of matching each other's schedule etc. Location was great as it was literally at the Chinatown area with public MRT, cleanliness was pretty good too, room was alright, bed and pillow was okay but if you're expecting hotel-type bed and pillow then look elsewhere. All in all, it perfectly fits me in terms of price, comfort, location etc, I will recommend to people who are not too fussy about their accommodation, afterall Singapore is pretty expensive.

  • Very clean and sunny room in a great location. Feels like home far away from it. We enjoyed our staying in Singapore and definitely going to stop here for our second visit. Highly recommended for everybody, who's searching for a place to stay in a heart of a city.

    Thank you, Sarah!

  • I stayed at Sarah's for three months, so I had a different experience to someone who would just be coming through for a weekend or a fly by visit to Singapore. The location is great, right in the heart of Chinatown, with a myriad of food options just a lift ride away. I really loved Chinatown, the vibrancy of the area and the continual hub of activity. The Chinatown MRT station is right downstairs, and it is so easy to get around.

The room itself is very basic, but clean and tidy. Really comfortable bed. After some hiccups, the internet was great. If it's an authentic Singaporean experience you are after, and if location and ease of travel is important to you, then I can't recommend Sarah's place highly enough.

Sarah herself is lovely. She was an accommodating host, and I really enjoyed my time there.

  • Good experience. Sarah was a great and helpful host! She gave us more than enough information and a map to help us make the most of our time in Singapore. The apartment is in a great location, right above the MRT Chinatown station. It can be a little tricky to find at first but Sarah provides detailed instructions. It's a good set up too. Two bathrooms (both w/ shower) in case one is occupied. This particular room is a little small so make sure you really like the person you're staying with ;) Overall, I recommend Sarah's place for anyone wanting the most out of their time in Singapore!

Greetings from Singapore! I am an American who has been living in Singapore for over a year. I have travelled and lived extensively throughout Europe & SE Asia and love to hear others stories and dream on my next adventure as well! We have been very fortunate to find an apartment in the center of where everything goes on and are lucky to have space to share in a country quite tiny! I love travel and love staying at places that feel like home. I am a very easy going host and willing to work with you in anyway that I can to make your travel/stay at my places easier. I love outdoors & nature, scuba diving, as well as the city life with checking out new restaurants and cocktail bars.
