Wonderful experience! The house was beautiful and kept clean. Graham, who takes care of the house, was often in the living room and gave us awesome recommendations. We had the best time and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Great weekend with Christo and the other kite boarders in Avon. Communal living but clean, comfortable, and friendly.
We really enjoyed our front canal room. Everything and everyone was quite laid back. We spent most of our time in the room or out on the beach. We especially enjoyed Graham's fun attitude and advice on the area. We even ran into him at one of the local bars and had a great time. We would go back for sure.
I've had a great time in Avon! Had a very warm welcome, everything went smoothly and uncomplicated. From communication, check-in, moving to another house (make sure you get the room with waterfront view, magnificent!!) and check-out. I have met wonderful people and the hosts regularly asked if everything was ok. Location super relaxing, room and bath clean and spacious. I certainly would recommend staying here!
We had a great time. The house is really clean and every one there is laid back. You really feel the beach spirit.
The house is a 4-bedroom with a spacious socializing area and a modern kitchen with all needed appliances.
The room is spacious, it has a bathroom shared with another room, which is not much of a trouble. Room opens to a patio overlooking the canal (ceiling-high windows are draped with thick curtains for your privacy and to protect you from sunlight in the morning).
It is a quiet setting with a 4-minute drive to town intersection with stores and restaurants.
At the time of our stay number of people in the house varied from 4 to 9. All other guests were very interesting intelligent people. We had several dinners on our own, two "communal" dinners and we went out together, spent time in the house and on the beach together. The setting allows for absolute freedom to choose privacy or socializing.
The owner (Christo) and house manager (Gram) are great people with a lot of passion for kite boarding (ask Christo about lessons and rentals once you arrange your stay).
Will definitely come back!
Christo & Melissa were fantastic hosts, exactly the kind you hope to meet on Airbnb. The room is lovely and cozy, and the house is tucked away in a quiet little enclave. This is the kind of place you go to to meet fellow travelers and share a meal with them. We met so many cool, international people during our stay, and everyone came together nightly for a seafood barbecue on the grill or at a nearby dock. You can't do much better for a fun, social experience at the Outer Banks!

Christo has been kiteboarding for over nine years. He has ridden and taught in the US (North Carolina and California) – as well as in some great spots around the world, including Bulgaria, Spain, Dominican Republic, Panama, Mexico and Peru – but he will be the first to reassure you that the best wind for kiteboarding is at Cape Hatteras. This is why he started thinking about opening a kiteboarding school on the island as far back as 2008, and has now set up Kite Club Hatteras as an official school in Cape Hatteras. Christo has a proven record of taking students to the best and safest spots on the island and providing them with a complete kiteboarding learning experience, taking beginners from the basics to becoming independent riders. Christo was a self-taught rider and uses his personal learning experience alongside his professional training to decrease your learning curve and increase your fun.
